I know this is predominantly
A UK site but I am so full of rage .
Beautiful young girl. 23 year old teacher went for a run at 4pm beaten to death.yesterday afternoon .
What can we do to stop this relaxed attitude to violence against women. We are all hurting here.
AIBU to think that violence against some. Women ever ever be fucking taken seriously .
110 convictions and out on bail murder Ed Ashling on a run way called after another woman who was brutally murdered there.
I'm full
Of sadness and fucking rage . I'm
Done with this shit for our girls.

Is that 110 convictions on that fucker? And he was out on bail?
I've been alternating between anger and tears.
She was going for a run along a canal used by many, there were people about and I am so enraged also by this I'm struggling with coherent thought. Fucking 4pm after a day teaching.

Also in Ireland and also upset and very angry. I think the whole country is in shock.

WizbitsLeftEye · 13/01/2022 21:51

What relaxed attitude? Pretty sure we are not all relaxed over any violence against women (or children or vulnerable folk).

But jeezus. Broad daylight? I hope they catch the perpetrator. Hopefully someone saw something. Her poor family. A friend of mine was lucky to escape from a male attacker before covid. A previous/ repeat offender. He was caught and put away. It's a relief that they don't all get away with it. But it was a massive, sick shock when we all heard.

goodyear2021 · 13/01/2022 21:54

Our problem here is that the law is too lenient on violence against women.
Two weeks ago beautiful young girl was walking home and got hammered by a few thugs. She has either lost an eye or is blind. . They are currently out on 200e bail
This is our reality .
Bastards

Did the guy in custody have 110 convictions? What? Are you serious?
I've been so sad all day but this makes me angry and still sad. Why should he decide her beautiful life should end? #shewasgoingforarun

GrazingSheep · 13/01/2022 21:55

I hope they catch the perpetrator.

They have.

halfpasteleven · 13/01/2022 21:56

goodyear2021 · 13/01/2022 21:57

Honestly had me in bits today. A young woman starting out in her life, career killed so horrifically & senselessly.
Her poor family robbed of their daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece & cousin.
A talented musician & from what I've read an all round great girl of the community.
Out on a run just living her life.
So so sad
RIP Ashling - run safely up in heaven xx

goodyear2021 · 13/01/2022 22:01

Convictions were mentioned in local
News. He was out on bail. The bastard

@WizbitsLeftEye

"What relaxed attitude? "

Go through different newspapers and read the DV court cases. It doesn't matter what the extent of injuries have been inflicted, if the judge thinks there's a chance of change, the sentence is suspended. The early release scheme is used, so when a prison sentence is given the do around a year, even when children have been involved.

goodyear2021 · 13/01/2022 22:04

I'm so fucking sick of this. Can we not allow our girls to Go for a walk. Meet friends and have a drink. Dress as they wish . Go for a fucking run? Without fear????
No fear that bastard would take down a 6'5' big man . Pity he didn't .

goodyear2021 · 13/01/2022 22:06

Relaxed attitude ??
Casual misogyny. Bail for serious assault . Slap on the wrist for dv.
Sorry luv , can't find your notes when you rang in about your partner arranging
You there last week ......
Hours of a wait to attend a dv call in.
Do me a favour ...

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/01/2022 22:06

It’s absolutely awful. And is exactly the same in the UK. Violence against women not taken seriously enough.

goodyear2021 · 13/01/2022 22:06
  • arranging = strangling

For a start, violent porn needs to be made much harder to access.

betwixtlives · 13/01/2022 22:10

It’s shocking. I can’t see anything in the news about 110 convictions, have you got a link?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 13/01/2022 22:12

Its disgusting.

Our police forces and our courts are heavily dominated by men. We will never get misogyny recognised for what it actually is - a hate crime - while all these men lead the culture of playing down all levels of violence around women and girls.

PurpleThursdays · 13/01/2022 22:13

So heartbreaking. She looks like my friend too, this is so sad. I hope they give this cunt life. Sentences are far too lenient.

I'll try and find the news report I read, said well known to the police, frequent violent offender when intoxicated,.known alcohol issues, but apparently never to this extent.

Chinam · 13/01/2022 22:23

I’m in Ireland too. This is just devastating. The poor woman. The clip on twitter of the beautiful cards her little students made for her broke my heart.
