AIBU to think that Boris should resign now?

Today it has been revealed that in May 2020 invitations were emailed to (allegedly) 100 Downing Street staff, for a garden party. This party happened during the first lockdown, when many people could not visit their elderly relatives, even on their death beds, due to the lockdown rules. The email was sent by one of the PM's top people, and stated that people should "bring their own booze and enjoy the sunshine". Today Boris has been conspicuous by his absence.

I think this is the final straw and shows a lack of judgement and absence of moral fibre. Enough is enough - he should resign and if he doesn't do it then his own party should force him to go.

AIBU?

Yes absolutely agree, despicable behaviour.

Howshouldibehave · 11/01/2022 17:47

Completely agree.

He, along with the rest of the Conservative party, are a total embarrassment.

ScreamingMeMe · 11/01/2022 17:48

What I feel most disgusted by is how he handled the previous wind and cheese allegations, knowing that this had taken place too.

llanwrst2 · 11/01/2022 17:49

I'd prefer an arrest and criminal charges, but resignation would be a step forward. The next Tory leader will at least do the job full time and might treat women better than the misogynist.

FinallyHere · 11/01/2022 17:50

Well, it's just another in a long line of 'misdemeanours'.

I never thought he would survive lying to the Queen, then having to admit it was wrong.

Even that is now just one of a very long list

Biscuitsneeded · 11/01/2022 17:50

The whole bloody lot of them should go, but they won't...

Sparklingbrook · 11/01/2022 17:51

Yes, but who will take over?

Gottasinggottadance · 11/01/2022 17:51

Yes, he should go. Gobsmacked if anyone tried to defend him.

HunterGatherer · 11/01/2022 17:52

He is a complete embarrassment. Angry

Rockbird · 11/01/2022 17:52

Yes he should, but he won't. This is the latest in a long line and he hasn't gone yet, more's the pity. He's a moral vacuum, he doesn't give a shit about the rest of us.

Sloth66 · 11/01/2022 17:52

He’s unfit for public office. An arrogant , incompetent lazy liar.

Junobug · 11/01/2022 17:52

I wish that the police would investigate it properly and press charges. But I suspect, like the wine and cheese affair, they knew all about it so will turn a blind eye.

TulipsGarden · 11/01/2022 17:53

In a way I'd rather he stayed as long as possible, to do as much damage as possible to the Tory party.

However, I suspect he'll be ousted soon. This isn't going away like they hoped it would, and the party donors are getting fractious. I reckon they're holding on until spring so they can 'blame' Covid on him and start afresh (they'll hope) with new blood when things look more positive. Fingers crossed for Liz Truss, as she's utterly useless.

HunterGatherer · 11/01/2022 17:53

@Sparklingbrook

Yes, but who will take over?
Well I would gladly have Teresa May back, I don't think she would have behaved in this way.
megletthesecond · 11/01/2022 17:54

Yanbu. But he's been shown to be a lazy, lying scumbag many times before and he hung on through that. So I won't hold my breath.

Giveaschitt · 11/01/2022 17:56

@onlyconnect

I don't know whether "wind and cheese" is a typo or deliberate, but I'm def referring to it as that from now on..
Normski67 · 11/01/2022 17:58

He should have resigned months ago Confused however I’m certain that he won’t. He’ll just front it out like usual, treat us all with contempt and continue lying through his arse non stop.

Irridescantshimmmer · 11/01/2022 18:00

No YANBU
He's a disgrace and Labour need to sanction him, severly.

Elieza · 11/01/2022 18:00

“Wind and cheese”
Brilliant! Grin

BlowDryRat · 11/01/2022 18:01

YANBU. Why is he still PM?

NinaProudman2022 · 11/01/2022 18:02

He was laughing and behaving like a naughty young school boy who had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar in his interview yesterday and showed no remorse whatsoever.

He should definitely go as should
the whole party who think and behave like they are above the law and can do as they please.

Do we think DC is leaking all this damaging info or do we think Boris has had enough and wants to go now or who is behind it.

llanwrst2 · 11/01/2022 18:03

@NinaProudman2022 I think it is Dominic Cummings or people on his behalf.

KurtWilde · 11/01/2022 18:04

He should, but he won't. This will get chalked up as one more naughty schoolboy misdemeanour and that'll be that. As always.

Flowertailbird · 11/01/2022 18:04

How that man can sleep at night knowing how much he has taken the absolute piss and made mugs of us all is beyond me. I knew he was laughing at us but to actually see him do it in an interview!!! . The number of people I have heard in tears over being separated from their loved ones, often dying loved ones, when he was partying has made me hate him even more. The man needs to be sacked and not given the chance to resign.
