Would you rather be married to an anti-vaxxer or a smoker?

A random conversation I started with DH this morning. He is neither!!!

I think it would depend a little on whether the antivaxxer would prevent my DC being vaccinated. Can that happen?

An out and out actual antivaxxer as in would never allow childhood vaccines either then ew I'd rather a smoker and I hate that. If its someone who's been labelled one for not wanting the covid jab I wouldn't be arsed.

I'd rather be single.

Your partner can potentially stop any DC from being vaccinated.

Someonemustknowtheanswer · 11/01/2022 07:18

I would take my children and have them vaccinated every time. Couldn't give a monkeys if their father was an anti vaxxer.

DappledThings · 11/01/2022 07:19

@SportsMother

Smoker for me, smokers don’t try to persuade you what they’re doing is rational, healthy or “sticking it to the man”
Exactly. And a smoker is more likely to end up becoming a non-smoker than an anti-vaxxer is even likely to see the light.
tttigress · 11/01/2022 07:20

If you just mean the Covid 19 vaccine, I would say anti vaxxer.

To be honest smoking is pretty disgusting, and more likely to shorten your life than not getting a vaccine.

PermanentTemporary · 11/01/2022 07:23

Antivaxxer. I own headphones so I could tune the antivaxx bullshit out but I can't think rationally about smoking, my dad smoked and everything weird in my relationship with my dad is symbolised by smoking for me.

AliveAndSleeping · 11/01/2022 07:24

Definitely a smoker. Anti vaxxers aren't rational (talking about people who don't get vaccinated on principle) and have bought into conspiracy theories. I couldn't respect someone like that.

I might be biased though as I know as an ex smoker how hard it is to stop smoking.

JustDanceAddict · 11/01/2022 07:26

I hate both, so neither, but I suppose if pushed if choose a smoker as long as they didn’t smoke in the house or stink of it.

Shmithecat2 · 11/01/2022 07:27

Smoker

Svara · 11/01/2022 07:30

Anti vaxxer, 100%. Couldn't live with a smoker, even when not smoking it's in their clothes, hair, they are breathing out poison as they lie next to you in bed. I have anxiety around health though.

Cocopogo · 11/01/2022 07:31

The three people I know who are anti covid vax all smoke. I did question one of them about the other crap they put in to their body etc but in answer to your question I would never marry a smoker.

BHX3000 · 11/01/2022 07:32

I could never be with a smoker, it’s the most disgusting habit to me.

Anti-vaxxers - it depends. Against Covid vaccine, couldn’t care less. Against all other immunisations, well I wouldn’t be having children with him.

SmallElephant · 11/01/2022 07:33

I'd rather be with an anti vaxxer if their opinion was contained purely to vaccines and they weren't a conspiracy nutter in other ways. Smoking is a lot worse to live with on a day to day basis.

MuchTooTired · 11/01/2022 07:37

Smoker for sure! I’ve anti vaxxers in the family and in my very limited experience the conspiracy theories are strong with them. So, assuming I’d have to be married to the sort of anti vaxxer I know, for my own sanity I’d pick a smoker providing there’s no smoking in the house and I don’t start smoking again.

PurpleFlower1983 · 11/01/2022 07:39

I married a smoker so I suppose I’d have to say smoker, he’s not a smoker anymore thank God!

Pixxie7 · 11/01/2022 07:39

Smoker definitely most smokers are considerate so not harming anyone but themselves, the anti-vaxxers are potentially harming a lot of other people.

LakeShoreD · 11/01/2022 07:41

Definitely a smoker. Anti vaxxers aren’t sane rational people.

Sally872 · 11/01/2022 07:41

Smoker 100%

ManicPixie · 11/01/2022 07:43

A smoker, because they’ll at least know it’s bad for them. A raging anti-vaxxer will have some serious psychological issues and would probably try to pass on that nonsense to your kids.

ittakes2 · 11/01/2022 07:45

There are people who choose the vaccine is not right for them and I respect their choice. Anti vaxxers who lobby others on their opinion are a bit scary!

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 11/01/2022 07:46

Smoker. Me and DP were both smokers. We are no longer smokers

My DB is an anti vaxer... He is still an anti vaxer

Lightswitch123 · 11/01/2022 07:47

Antivaxer every time.

Smoking and obesity are much more dangerous to them and children

FluffyBooBoo · 11/01/2022 07:49

Whichever one I'll get the best divorce settlement from... Grin

Svara · 11/01/2022 07:49

Smokers harm others even if considerate. I get headaches at work from smokers smoking on breaks then coming inside with it all over their clothing. Unless you mean changing clothing, with no one I know does.
