To want my money back

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 11:34

Was due to go to canaries tomorrow but my sister tested positive on a lateral boxing day.
She did her pcr and sent it in the post Tuesdzy morning as our holiday provider said we can move our holiday admin free on proof of a positive pcr however its gone missing so we have had to pay the admin fee to move our holiday provider.
Aibu to want this money back as its out of our control.

Who do you want to give you the money back?
Does she have proof of postage? Did she have tracking on the test?

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 01/01/2022 11:38

It’s not out of your control though. The company you chose to do the pcr test with has lost it. That’s unfortunate and annoying, but that’s not the travel companies fault

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 11:38

Jet 2 not sure abt tracking etc will have to ask her

OP posts:
Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 11:38

It was a nhs test not private

Sirzy · 01/01/2022 11:39

Get another PCR?

But otherwise you are being unreasonable. They understandably want proof before they will change it.

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 11:39

We was relying on it to move our holiday admin free.

OP posts:
HotToddyColdSauvignon · 01/01/2022 11:39

Well if it’s nhs they will be a tracking number you can use - there’s instructions to call 119 or whatever it is to follow up if you haven’t heard in 72 hours

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 11:40

Well yes can get another pcr but it's gonna be negative now.

OP posts:
HunterHearstHelmsley · 01/01/2022 11:40

They won't refund you without proof of a positive result. For all they know, you've just changed your mind.

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 11:41

My sister has called and they said it seems to have gone missing

OP posts:
HotToddyColdSauvignon · 01/01/2022 11:42

Why would your pcr now be negative??? You can test positive in a pcr for up to 90 days after having covid, that’s why you have to have proof that you’ve had covid if you travel abroad after being ill

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 11:42

She has proof in the lateral but they won't accept it.

OP posts:
Sirzy · 01/01/2022 11:42

But why has she waited so long? She got the positive lateral flow on 26th so surely by 29th at the latest you would have been chasing it? Especially knowing you needed it.

You really expect the company to pay for something that is no fault of theirs?

WhatTheWhoTheWhatThe · 01/01/2022 11:43

Well it’s out of there control that you can’t provide a PCR result too 🤷‍♀️ I understand your frustration but I don’t think you will get your money back as the conditions were clear

WhatTheWhoTheWhatThe · 01/01/2022 11:43

**their

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 11:43

HotToddyColdSauvignon
I hope so then we will get our admin fee back.

OP posts:
Sirzy · 01/01/2022 11:44

@Tevion28

She has proof in the lateral but they won't accept it.
Of course they won’t. I could go on the website now and register a positive lateral flow. It would take me about 5 seconds to find a photo of one!
LIZS · 01/01/2022 11:44

Gone missing as in she never received it , either by email or text, or she dejeted it?

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 01/01/2022 11:44

This is a non issue. Pay for the admin fee change. Do another pcr. Request the refund from the company once you have it.
You should have been prepared for extra sudden travel costs anyway if you’re planning to travel at the moment

DeepaBeesKit · 01/01/2022 11:44

Don't you have an email or text receipt of the NHS positive result?

I've never heard a physical PCR result, my results have always come by email or text.

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 11:44

I'm just so depressed about it all tbh

OP posts:
Avenueofcherryblossom · 01/01/2022 11:45

How much is the admin fee?

LampLighter414 · 01/01/2022 11:45

Could you go on holiday without her? Only she loses out then

Normski67 · 01/01/2022 11:45

@Tevion28

Well yes can get another pcr but it's gonna be negative now.
When was the PCR taken? If it’s recent it’s highly likely to still be positive. If the admin fee to live the holiday is less than the cost of the PCR just get her to do another one.
PinkWaferBiscuit · 01/01/2022 11:45

@HunterHearstHelmsley

They won't refund you without proof of a positive result. For all they know, you've just changed your mind.
This.

It's frustrating you have to pay but in their eyes they have absolutely no proof you're telling the truth so of course they won't be able to refund you.
