To want my money back

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 11:34

Was due to go to canaries tomorrow but my sister tested positive on a lateral boxing day.
She did her pcr and sent it in the post Tuesdzy morning as our holiday provider said we can move our holiday admin free on proof of a positive pcr however its gone missing so we have had to pay the admin fee to move our holiday provider.
Aibu to want this money back as its out of our control.

@Tevion28

CharlotteRose90 Because she hasn't had the result it appears to be missing.
How does she know it was positive if she hadn’t had the result Confused
Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 11:55

Yes I agree jet 2 are been good

LawnFever
Lateral was positive Boxing day

You'd get it back if you had the required proof.

It's not your fault the kit was lost but it's not the company's fault either.

If they didn't require proof that couldn't be faked with a bit of orange juice then a lot of people would take the piss.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 01/01/2022 11:57

Oh Christ it’s like talking to a drippy woe is me brick wall.

OP. Your sister needs to do another pcr. Chase the refund after. Stop whining that Jet2 are meanies when they’re not, they’re just not going to give you a refund “on your say so”.
Goodness sakes

PriamFarrl · 01/01/2022 11:58

If she tested as positive on Boxing Day then she can travel now can’t she?

Are you saying that she never got the result of the PCR back?

LawnFever · 01/01/2022 11:59

@Tevion28

LawnFever Lateral was positive Boxing day
So get another private PCR booked in today, yeah it’s annoying but I don’t see why she can’t do that rather than sitting around whinging about it.

So why have you made a thread criticising them of you think their policy is fair.

If it turns out your sister isn't positive after all and they allowed you to exchange dates in just your word im guessing you wouldn't then pay back the fee they had waived.

Haus1234 · 01/01/2022 12:00

Do another PCR.

If positive, mice the holiday and don’t pay the (actually very cheap!) admin fee.

If negative, go on the holiday.

I don’t see the issue?

girlmom21 · 01/01/2022 12:01

Do another test.
If it comes back positive you get the admin fee waived. If it doesn't, you can go, surely?

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 12:01

Oh gawd I think people are confused over what I mean. She tested positive on a lateral boxing day. Ordered a pcr sent it in the post Tuesday morning its gone missing

DiscoGlitterBall · 01/01/2022 12:01

I’m somewhat confused. She got a positive lateral flow on the 26th but waited until the 29th to do a pcr? My DD had a pcr on both the 25 and 26 (lucky her!), results both times were back within 15 hours (first unreadable hence the second).

Not being unkind but maybe she should have got the pcr on the 26 or 27 at the latest if she knew you were due to go away 🤷🏼‍♀️

As soon as she heard that the test was missing she should have arranged another.

And no they won’t take lateral flows because they are self administered and registered.

Whilst it is unfortunate that the test is lost, there is quite a lot your sister could have done before getting to this point.

LawnFever · 01/01/2022 12:01

@Tevion28

Well yes can get another pcr but it's gonna be negative now.
If it’s negative now you can still travel though so why would you need to move the holiday?

Wouldn’t you’d need to have done a private pcr to travel anyway?

DiscoGlitterBall · 01/01/2022 12:02

And we went to a testing site not ordered online

girlmom21 · 01/01/2022 12:02

So she hasn't actually done a PCR? She needs to go to a walk in site then.
Namechangehereandnow · 01/01/2022 12:02

Why can’t she go to a site for a pcr? Order another pcr? You’re making it much more difficult that it really is 🙄

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 12:03

I've just asked her to do another pcr but she said its not worth it as she has just done a lateral which was negative.

OP posts:
ImInStealthMode · 01/01/2022 12:03

@LawnFever You don't need a negative PCR to travel to Spain at the moment (but you do need to be double vaccinated).

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 12:04

It's not me I can only make suggestions to her

Don't you have to do a PCR to fly? So just go without her or make her pay the admin fee.
HotToddyColdSauvignon · 01/01/2022 12:04

How very convenient her new lateral has come back negative Hmm

Oh well. Up to you op. Off you trot on your holiday. Good luck getting back when you have to do a pcr out there to come back and your sister tests positive.

Presume you have travel insurance?!

Namechangehereandnow · 01/01/2022 12:04

Many people get negative lateral flow but positive pcr … you really sound like you’re just stalling and whining for whining sake tbh …

Itsalmostanaccessory · 01/01/2022 12:05

Why did she wait so long to do a PCR?
Test centres were open on boxing day.

This is your sister's fault for waiting so long. if she had it done the same day then she would have ben able to book another when the tracking showed it hadnt arrived.

Jet2 have done nothing wrong. Can you actually explain what you think they have done wrong and why they should waive the fee? Why should they pay for this?

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 12:05

My sister is set on not going anyway now.
