To want my money back

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 11:34

Was due to go to canaries tomorrow but my sister tested positive on a lateral boxing day.
She did her pcr and sent it in the post Tuesdzy morning as our holiday provider said we can move our holiday admin free on proof of a positive pcr however its gone missing so we have had to pay the admin fee to move our holiday provider.
Aibu to want this money back as its out of our control.

Those saying Spain don’t need negative pcr - true, but it also says this

You may also be subject to additional checks at the point of entry including a temperature check, visual health assessment, or testing on arrival. Passengers may also be contacted and required to undertake a PCR, TMA or LAMP test at any point up to 48 hours after their arrival in Spain. More information can be found on the Spanish government’s Border Health Controls webpage.

rookiemere · 01/01/2022 12:24

Sorry I cross posted. Surely your Dsis should be isolating if she has had a positive LFT and is awaiting the results of a PCR ?

Mummyoflittledragon · 01/01/2022 12:24

Your sister owes you the admin fee for taking a unilateral decision. Have you changed your dates? Can you just cancel or go with your ds tomorrow?

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 01/01/2022 12:24

Think you’re being a bit defeatist OP. It’s your sons birthday. Who cares if your sisters go or not?! I’d have just taken your son and gone and had a nice time

girlmom21 · 01/01/2022 12:24

@Tevion28

Well its moved to the 24th of March now and yes I agree my sister has slunk back in her armchair with no intention of going until later in the year.
How on Earth did you possibly rebook that for all those people so quickly? Do none of you work, need to sort A/L etc?

It also states about additional checks for certain destinations under the canaries section.

How very convenient her new lateral has come back negative

Why do you think it's "convenient"? DS tested negative on an LFT 6 days after a positive PCR. Hardly unusual, especially given the new isolation rules wrt testing.

I think the OP is getting a ridiculously hard time here.

Im assuming your sister has paid of rthe admin fee for this and you're not out of pocket.

If not I'd be expecting a repeat of this scenario come March to be honest.

girlmom21 · 01/01/2022 12:27

She's getting a hard time because she thinks anyone except the people at fault should be responsible for her refund. She's not entitled to a refund. Her sister is a dick.

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 12:30

Yes but if I try to say anything to her she gets a bit annoyed and defensive and her and my other sister stick together in thier opinions.

Coriandersucks · 01/01/2022 12:31

Seems like the only incompetent person here is your sister, not Royal Mail or the nhs or the holiday company.

Sorry she’s ruined your holiday op. If I were you I would pull out of the March one and do something nice just you and your son.

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 12:32

I've had to pay the admin fee yes. I've just sent a message to my other sister abt how upset I am.

OP posts:
Clymene · 01/01/2022 12:32

It's your sister who's the problem here, not tears going missing in the post.

Clymene · 01/01/2022 12:33

Tears? Tests!

She should pay your deposit.

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 12:33

Coriandersucks can't get out of it now jet 2 will not refund unless in a lockdown.

Why are you sending messages to your other sister about how upset you are?? If your sister is the one who has cancelled sit suddenly the £80pp will come out of her account. Just don’t pay it back. Stop being so drippy!

ABCDEF1234 · 01/01/2022 12:34

Not sure why everyone thinks the sister should pay admin fees - there is nothing stopping op travelling with just her son.

DreamingofTimbuktu · 01/01/2022 12:35

Your sister is likely lying and has never tested positive at all. I hope she decides to go in March

CharlotteRose90 · 01/01/2022 12:37

It’s your sister that’s the problem not jet2. To be honest with how you say she’s being it sounds like she wasn’t positive at all and is only saying it to get out of the holiday. You should be glad it was £80 when I rearranged mine it was £150 . She owes you that money if she won’t take a pcr test. I tested positive on the 22nd December and my pcr is still positive now so she’s lying about it not showing.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 01/01/2022 12:37

Well, supposedly the sister cancelled the holiday and changed the car parking in the space of 30 seconds. Though the whole thing is getting less believable by the minute

I only think she should pay because they ahev changed the holiday date and I presume this was agreed with her sister.

Personally I'd still have gone regardless as I can't see her suddenly being happy to go in March.

PurpleFlower1983 · 01/01/2022 12:39

Honestly it sounds like your sister has made this up as she doesn’t want to go!

PurpleFlower1983 · 01/01/2022 12:40

You should have just gone, the weather is great at the moment over there!

Tevion28 · 01/01/2022 12:45

She is due out of isolation tomorrow. And I have paid the admin fee myself.
I work casual hours so do what I want both my sisters and husbands are retired and my son is at university.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 01/01/2022 12:47

If you paid the admin fee
Yourself then your sister didn’t cancel your part of the holiday? So you’re just being a martyr now
