Mine is Chez Bruce been several times and always been faultless and accommodating.

Ooooh so many- it's really rare we don't enjoy somewhere special (La Gavroche being a rare exception)

Highlights recently were the Pollen Street Social- amazing lunch made very special by Jason Atherton) and the Tommy Bank's at the Black Swan- wonderful vegetarian taster menu

Fatgalslim · 19/11/2021 13:26

One of the best I've been to was a little seafood place near the port at Los Cristianos in Tenerife, queues out the door, full of locals, plastic tables and chairs - had the most amazing grilled octupus for about 8 euro. Absolutely delicious

Ooh, Mark Greenaways place in Edinburgh is awesome. As is David Banns vegetarian place. Also loved J Sheekey in London.

The Champion in Westbury, Wiltshire.

Currently closed due the pandemic. Opening again after the Chinese New Year.

I implore you all to go. Nice food and an episode of Buffy TVS was filmed near there.

My favourite meal was a tasting menu at somewhere called The Clock House in Ripley.

I haven't been, but I've also heard that The Fat Duck in Bray is amazing.

WinifredTheWondrous · 19/11/2021 13:35

Oh also Kitchin in Leith. It's lovely too.

MainRd · 19/11/2021 13:37

A hotel restaurant in Bergen, The Netherlands. Quality was amazing.

sunshinelover69 · 19/11/2021 13:37

City Social in London, did a chef's table meal with clients and it was fabulous.

Bluntness100 · 19/11/2021 13:37

It was a seafood restaurant in Italy. We had seafood linguine and it’s still one of the best food I’ve ever tasted all garlicky and perfectly cooked.

Last weekend we went to aqua Neuva in London, it’s a tapas restaurant, the food was delicious. One of the better meals I’ve ever had.

JengaCupboard · 19/11/2021 13:42

Not fancy restaurant as such, but for quality vs. price The Social Board in Brighton is one of my absolute go-to favourites.

That and Very Italian Pizza (VIP), Brighton. Both brilliant.

PrincessPaws · 19/11/2021 13:42

The Black Rat in Winchester is superb

Isseywith3witchycats · 19/11/2021 14:23

ghostyslovesheets · 19/11/2021 14:25

Craft in Birmingham

Inextremis · 19/11/2021 14:34

It's closed now (well, transformed into Market, a bistro, not the same thing at all), but Graze, in Brighton, was a lovely, lovely fine dining restaurant that I remember with extreme fondness. Every dish was a delight, from the flavoured butter to the warmed brandy. Such a shame it's no longer there - but then again, I'm no longer there either - am in a different country - and at least I have the memories (and photos!).

HoseMeDownWithHolyWater · 19/11/2021 14:34

I really love Mowgli.

Hillarious · 19/11/2021 14:39

A very nice, small, independent restaurant in Soho I first went to in 1986 and my own kids who now live in London go there too. Meal for three with wine, coffee and a pud for around £60. Not mentioning its name, as it's my secret.

I also like Chez Bruce, and something I certainly miss about London!

Malbecfan · 19/11/2021 14:45

There were 2 in East Devon that have now sadly closed: Moores and Green Door. Fantastic food, lovely staff and not too expensive. The Galley in Topsham is very nice if you like fresh fish.

Sat Bains. Just extraordinarily amazing food.

Mercurial123 · 19/11/2021 14:56

Lebanese restaurant in the mountains, it had the most amazing local food with the best view. Second is Blue Elephant in Bangkok.

SenselessUbiquity · 19/11/2021 14:59

SSSSSHHHHHH I know the Soho restaurant and if anyone says the name I will be FURIOUS

Letsnotargue · 19/11/2021 14:59

Agreed. Six of us went the week before lockdown and sat in the private dining room. The food, service, wine etc was faultless.
WakeUpLockie · 19/11/2021 15:04

Aw yes Chez Bruce is lovely!

My all time fave was Dinner by Heston probably, been to the Fat Duck too but Dinner was FAR more my cup of tea. That mash!!

Went to some incredible and very fancy resturants in california too but I was a teen so can't remember their names.
