Following on from the other thread…

Mine is Chez Bruce been several times and always been faultless and accommodating.
The only thing I really miss about living in london!

The Harbour Inn, Bowmore, Islay.
We've been visiting for 25 years, love the place.

Upwiththisiwillnotput · 19/11/2021 19:35

@Spanglemum Terre a Terre in Brighton. Haven't been for over 10 years but loved it. Remember when it started out in Pool Valley.”
I was there 2 weeks ago with DH for our anniversary- still wonderful and our go to place for celebrations (we live in London)

A place in Luxor in Egypt called Oum Hashim. It is a grubby looking back street place, but serves the best kofta kebab I have ever tasted.

Jconnais1chansonquivavsenerver · 19/11/2021 19:38

I was lucky enough to go to Bibendum in the Michelin Building in the early Nineties, when Simon Hopkinson was still there. It was amazing!

whiteroseredrose · 19/11/2021 19:41

I second the Pipe and Glass in East Yorkshire.

Frazzled2207 · 19/11/2021 19:43

@weebarra

We're near Edinburgh so spoilt for choice! Aizle Rhubarb at the Prestonfield Taisteal Wedgwood

Outside
Three Chimneys
Peat Inn

And from left field
Meat Stack in Newcastle
Sa Capella near San Antonio in Ibiza, no idea if it's still there. In an old church.

Ooh is that the Three Chimneys in Skye? Went there many years ago and the oysters were quite something.
theremustonlybeone · 19/11/2021 19:59

Jconnais1chansonquivavsenerver I was at Bibendums for their 20th anniversary where hopkinson, conrad etc were there. My friend was the general manager so we went alot in90s and 00s.

Jen435 · 19/11/2021 20:09

Pipe & Glass and Chez Bruce both excellent

New place in Peckham called Kudu Grill that is fantastic.

Jconnais1chansonquivavsenerver · 19/11/2021 20:09

@theremustonlybeone - oh, how lovely that must have been! I've been living abroad for the past few decades, and my favourite restaurant in England when I've gone back to visit recently has been "Greens" in Didsbury (which was rather disparagingly remarked on upthread, but which I Iiked a lot). Which reminds me, I used to spend a lot of time in Greens Champagne Bar, as well as Langans Brasserie, when I worked in London. Those were the (expense account) days!

BFCfairy · 19/11/2021 20:12

French Laundry in Napa when it was #1 in the world.

Iooselipssinkships · 19/11/2021 20:14

Greggs

loadofcrap10 · 19/11/2021 20:27

Madhu in Glasgow. I'm a vegan and it was honestly the best vegan food I've eaten

Partnersworries · 19/11/2021 21:02

@Fatgalslim omg I know this place! Just walked in, plastic tables and grill at the back. The tomato and onion salad with loads of sea salt served with the octopus was also 👌

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/11/2021 21:03

Dining room at The Connaught. Was wonderful in the late 80s, still wonderful now.

WhiteVanWoman91 · 19/11/2021 21:06

The Waterside Inn. Served by Alain Roux himself. Top notch food.

WhiteVanWoman91 · 19/11/2021 21:07

Just checked and it's just shy of £190 a head nowadays! 🤯

WorriedMillie · 19/11/2021 21:09

A little restaurant in a Verona back street, we booked the whole place out for a conference event, years ago. I had some sort of baked, smoked mozzarella, wrapped in aubergine, among many other lovely things. Just heaven!

Mum2jenny · 19/11/2021 21:15

Agree with earlier posters that Sat Bains is excellent.
I also like Higoi in Nottingham, it’s Japanese cuisine and really good imo.

warmeduppizza · 19/11/2021 21:19

Ultraviolet in Shanghai

FangsForTheMemory · 19/11/2021 21:25

Au Tout Petit in Avignon, but it no longer exists.

Persephoned · 19/11/2021 21:41

@Hillarious do you mean Quo Vadis?

Sundaydance · 19/11/2021 21:47

The Whitebrook in Monmouthshire. I have been to a lot of Michelin starred restaurants but this was hands down the best. The produce was so fresh.

JaceLancs · 19/11/2021 21:48

Off to los Cristianos tomorrow and we know the one by the harbour well!
Lanis in lanzarote
The black duck in krakow

Persephoned · 19/11/2021 21:53

Ooh no, just saw comments about Andrew Edmunds! Agree it’s lovely to name and share positive experiences, particularly in current climate, I don’t think I’ll book out all the tables for the night the shy poster wanted to go on!
