How often do you deep clean your house all the way through?

Firstly, AIBU to be totally fed up of cleaning?!
My house is not a tip (I don't think!) but I have just spent 2 whole days cleaning it from top to bottom and it's still not finished. Twice a year I usually deep clean all the way through- things such as touch up paint, clean rugs/sofa/carpet with a professional carpet cleaner, scrub the whites around the windows, pull beds/furniture out and clean behind. I also spent at least an hour cleaning every day without the bigger jobs such as changing beds, cleaning blinds/windows etc. It honestly feels like a complete never ending task. Me and DH have been cleaning for the last two days in preparation for Christmas (last bit of annual leave before we put our tree up). I really wish I had a cleaner.

I never do this, sorry. I will deep clean a room every so often, but life is too short....

Mantlemoose · 09/11/2021 18:48

This is a thing?

IslaPineappple · 09/11/2021 18:48

Never

EatYourVegetables · 09/11/2021 18:49

Last time was when we moved in (4 y ago).

And 1h / day is mental.

Once.

Not once per month, or year, or whatever. Just … once.

We get around to everything you have mentioned over the course of a year or two, but not all at once, no.

Fallagain · 09/11/2021 18:50

Never

Squirrelblanket · 09/11/2021 18:50

I never do this all in one go. I will start now doing one room a week until Christmas though.

FangsForTheMemory · 09/11/2021 18:53

I never deep clean the whole house at once, it would take me ten days and I'd be exhausted by day three.

ghejxodn · 09/11/2021 18:53

Argh maybe I'm the crazy one! But does it not get really dirty if you don't clean? An hour a day isn't much when you think of dishwasher/bathroom/making beds/sweeping/mopping etc?

When I sell the house.

Hollyhead · 09/11/2021 18:54

Never.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 09/11/2021 18:54

Nope

Vbree · 09/11/2021 18:55

Never!

Fernhilde · 09/11/2021 18:55

I never have.

AuntieMarys · 09/11/2021 18:55

Dh cleans all the bathrooms once a week and hoovers. I dust occasionally.

Vbree · 09/11/2021 18:56

Don't have particularly high standards though when it comes to cleaning

Firenight · 09/11/2021 18:56

When we moved in.

FourEyesGood · 09/11/2021 18:56

Another one saying never.

HugeAckmansWife · 09/11/2021 18:56

Nope, never sorry. Or maybe if I'm decorating a room and clear all the furniture out, I might then.

IVFdreams2021 · 09/11/2021 18:56

I clean for about 6 hours on a Saturday or Sunday once a week.

AreYouRightThereSkippy · 09/11/2021 18:56

I don't do this either. I'm seriously considering a cleaner which seems really extravagant, but still.

Ragwort · 09/11/2021 18:57

Never ... no, I don't think it does get that dirty. Do you have pets and/or messy DC? An hour cleaning every day plus your deep cleaning sounds a bit OTT to be honest. I do about an hour a week ... on a good week.

ImFree2doasiwant · 09/11/2021 18:57

Never. I do a room at a time. When I have time. So e rooms (bathroom) more often as its an easy one. The other more clutteredrooms I'd aim for twice a year but might be once a year.

NoSquirrels · 09/11/2021 18:57

You can cut your time in half by delegating to the other adult - voila, now your daily cleaning only takes 30 minutes.

Do you mop daily?

If you can’t have a cleaner get a robot hoover at least, that will sort floors.

violetbunny · 09/11/2021 18:58

Wait, you spend an hour a day cleaning your house? Do you live in a mansion?

We never go through and do a big deep clean like you in one go. But I do try to tackle jobs that don't get don't very much on a regular basis. So once a week I will for example, pick out a cupboard that hasn't been cleared in a while and throw away anything from it that we don't need.

Paint touch ups would be done maybe once a year, unless there was something really obvious that needed seeing to.
