How often do you deep clean your house all the way through?

Firstly, AIBU to be totally fed up of cleaning?!
My house is not a tip (I don't think!) but I have just spent 2 whole days cleaning it from top to bottom and it's still not finished. Twice a year I usually deep clean all the way through- things such as touch up paint, clean rugs/sofa/carpet with a professional carpet cleaner, scrub the whites around the windows, pull beds/furniture out and clean behind. I also spent at least an hour cleaning every day without the bigger jobs such as changing beds, cleaning blinds/windows etc. It honestly feels like a complete never ending task. Me and DH have been cleaning for the last two days in preparation for Christmas (last bit of annual leave before we put our tree up). I really wish I had a cleaner.

Never. Not even when I moved in.

Jasmine11 · 09/11/2021 19:26

Why not save up and hire a cleaner for a deep clean every once in a while if you can't afford/don't want a regular cleaner? Life is too short to do all that you describe if you aren't being paid to do it.

Pascal80 · 09/11/2021 19:26

Three times a year - top to bottom.

I shampoo carpets more often than that because they are cream, so about 6 times a year. I have animals as well.

moomoogalicious · 09/11/2021 19:26

When i decorate a room and the living room when i shift the furniture to make room for the Christmas tree

Crumblinginside · 09/11/2021 19:27

I don't do it all in one go

I do one job a day most days (eg clean oven)
For example today I cleared two main kitchen cupboards (takes me 20 mins)

Tomorrow I will sort the airing cupboard and then I will sort the windows another day this week. That's plenty this week on top of normal daily stuff.

Never in one go ! Stuff like paint jobs - every two years our house is very clean.

GlomOfNit · 09/11/2021 19:28

Never.

Too much clutter to clean that intensively, too few fucks to give.

HelplesslyHoping · 09/11/2021 19:29

I do about an hour or two a day cleaning and hoovering, and each day throughout the week I work on something else like organising or wiping down all the skirting boards and doors.

We have a cleaner now who comes once a month to wash the windows, wash curtains, hoover behind furniture etc.

home2012 · 09/11/2021 19:29

I do it about twice a year. Helps with the overall cleaning and I find helps keep on top of clutter.

Prattypatel · 09/11/2021 19:30

Never

Thewiseoneincognito · 09/11/2021 19:31

Get a cleaner it’ll change your life

Thatsplentyjack · 09/11/2021 19:33

🤣 never. I did eat out under the beds when we went into the first lockdown. Just realised hoe long ago that was! I do the basics ever day, Di the bathroom every couple of days or when something need a wipe and steam mop the floor and dust once a week.

godmum56 · 09/11/2021 19:33

never while my arse points south

Thatsplentyjack · 09/11/2021 19:34

I do usually get the carpets cleaned once a year.

Teaandcakeordeath83 · 09/11/2021 19:35

My answer is when we move in to a rental and then again when we move out ... I probably clean/ tidy for an average of 15 mins a day (quick wipe of kitchen, stack/empty dishwasher, wipe up child related mess, load of washing and put away). Once a week I might look at the floor/ bathroom/ whatever else and realise it needs hoovering/mopping. I wouldn't say it was a tip though. Absolutely no way I'd spend an hour a day at it. I deep clean my daughter's room every 1-2 months or so.

PlanDeRaccordement · 09/11/2021 19:35

I’m not sure how to answer, as some of your deep cleaning items we do weekly..ie clean under and behind furniture, skirting board, doors, light switches. The windows I do daily. We clean a bit every day. Paint I touch up as I notice. Don’t have carpet, so floors washed twice weekly.

I’ve dont really deep clean.. we have a rota where everything gets done just not all at once.

Blush21 · 09/11/2021 19:35

At least once or twice a year I deep clean and have a clear out etc. keep on top of it through the weeks

Chelyanne · 09/11/2021 19:36

Deep cleans are pretty much only when I'm pregnant and in full blown nesting mode. I was pulling out the sofas to hoover/mop when in labour with the most recent lol. Keeping our house clean is like raking leaves during a tornado so not worth stressing over.
I also clean when I'm angry, pretty sure that's why dh pisses me off sometimes.

bakingdemon · 09/11/2021 19:36

Remove the first two words of the question and the answer is hellaNOPE

Newbabynewhouse · 09/11/2021 19:37

Once every year... 😂

BreakfastOfWaffles · 09/11/2021 19:38

Once a quarter, so four times a year. That said though, I have a weekly cleaner and no carpets in the house.

Yuledo · 09/11/2021 19:38

Nope. Apart from normal cleaning, I only do extra when I notice something looking particularly bad.

Theyellowflamingo · 09/11/2021 19:40

About 2 or 3 times a year I do a “pull the furniture out” type clean. I don’t touch up paint or anything like that and I’ve never cleaned my carpets except standard vacuuming. Takes a couple of days, but a lot of that is putting everything back where it should be, sorting through piles of kids clutter etc.

But I don’t do anything like an hour a day normally- dishwasher, sweep crumbs under the table, wipe the kitchen counters is about it for daily stuff. Bathrooms get cleaned pretty much as we go along - if I’m in the shower I’ll clean it while I’m there etc etc. I vacuum the bits I can see when they look like they need doing. Sheets are whenever I remember. Maybe an hour a week?!

boyboyboydogdog · 09/11/2021 19:42

Never, I clean bathrooms and kitchen weekly, Hoover when it looks like it needs it, dust when you can see it sitting on furniture, but lucky if I do one hour a week! Too busy working and doing stuff way more interesting than cleaning! Probably give it a bit of more thorough go over if someone visiting....

Bagelsandbrie · 09/11/2021 19:43

Only when I change the carpets or move. I have disabilities and can’t pull furniture out. I do clean every day though- hoover, clean worktops, dust etc. Bathrooms once a week etc.
