AIBU to think this is absolutely bat shit…..snag tights related

Has anyone else been watching the snag tights/applicant for social media position debacle? I have no involvement in this but have been watching from the sidelines in utter bafflement and now I don’t know if I’m missing something or if this person is truly reaching in order to take offence

So snag tights were recruiting. This person applied, was asked to do a video interview, said yes and was then not interviewed and when snag came back they said all positions were filled, they’d missed her reply and were but would be back in touch when recruiting again. This person believes it was because snag had looked at their social media and decided they no longer wanted to interview them.

This has erupted on both sides with this person posting on multiple social media sites and snag owner Brie seeming to apologise over and over. Admit a mistake was made and that steps were being put in place to resolve moving forward.

That’s it in a tiny nutshell but there’s so much more now including accusations of doxxing.

Is anyone else been reading? AIBU to think the applicant has taken it too far now and needs to move on?

All sounds a bit dramatic

Cheerbear23 · 07/11/2021 11:58

I don’t really understand - looking at someone’s social media footprint is a part of the recruitment for many firms? If they don’t like what they see they won’t interview.

timeisnotaline · 07/11/2021 12:00

Is there something in particular that you’re not allowed to discriminate for that the applicants social media shows?

icedcoffees · 07/11/2021 12:00

What a load of drama over nothing.

Prospective employers will look at your social media. it's normal.

tallduckandhandsome · 07/11/2021 12:00

YABU because I’ve done a Google and it brought absolutely nothing up about this.

So I don’t think the applicant has done anything, let alone taken it too far.

SultansOfMing · 07/11/2021 12:02

Oh I saw a bit of this.

The accuser would make a fucking appalling social media representative! I don't understand how they think this helps them at all. They are basically behaving like a massive crybully over a perceived slight that sounds like a genuine oversight. Emails get missed. It happens. Get the fuck over it and stop whinging with your tits out because it makes you look deranged Hmm

timeisnotaline · 07/11/2021 12:02

Hmm well if this is accurate then no the applicant is not the one who has overreacted

Odd, I can't see anything online about this.

Can you link something, OP?

I think their SM is outstanding btw, they've done really well with it.

SultansOfMing · 07/11/2021 12:04

If anyone wants to waste any time going down this rabbit hole, look up violetvixanne on Instagram. All will become crystal clear not but basically Snag have dodged a bullet there, whether intentionally or not.

stalkersaga · 07/11/2021 12:05

Well from that description, all that seemed to have happened on the applicant's side is that she didn't get the job, and that she decided for herself that it was because she had "called out" something on her social media.

CompetitiveMumming · 07/11/2021 12:10

Snag seem to me to be a nice, small company doing their best to be inclusive- basically on the side of the goodies.

One of the horriblest things about progressive culture is the need to witch hunt groups and people who are doing pretty well but aren't perfect. Why is this person not going after bigger more immoral targets? Why bring down Snag tights when Jacob Rees Mogg still lives and breathes? Or the cricket club that thinks it's OK to racially slur people? There are more important things.

timeisnotaline · 07/11/2021 12:10

It’s the publishing her real name part that tips it from a he said she said both have points here to ‘hey that’s really not ok’

See having read lots of it, that doesn’t seem accurate. The person in question also said they didn’t call snag racist but that’s certainly what some took from their posts about not being contacted.

@SultansOfMing I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking snag dodged a bullet!

But quite possibly agree that if I looked up violet vixannes tweets I wouldn’t want to employ her! Doesn’t mean her name should have been published though, that was a mistake. The whole thing looks like a mistake on all fronts.

timeisnotaline · 07/11/2021 12:14

Doesn’t everyone know the snag owners real name? It takes 2 seconds to google , it’s the second result. That’s not doxxing and not comparable.

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 07/11/2021 12:14

If someone like Snag Tights won’t work with you, you may be beyond batshit crazy.

I don’t buy from them because I can’t stand their adverts with the crazy influencers who all claim to be non-binary, queer, label, label, label etc. I just want some fucking tights, not a political rant.

They had posted both snag employees names first and still actually has Bries full names on one of their posts. It was their first name only snag posted and deleted it as soon as it was pointed out

I looked at her Instagram.

Got as far as “self diagnosed ADHD” and clicked off.

Georgieporgie29 · 07/11/2021 12:18

I have briefly seen this and it look like

  • person applied for job
  • they asked her to email availability for interview
  • she replied
  • they completely missed her email so didn’t interview her
  • they announced the jobs had been filled
  • she got in touch to complain
  • they apologised
  • she went all over Instagram calling them out, saying it was because of something she had posted on her social media
  • they apologised again, saying they hadn’t checked anyone’s social media as had (I think) 250 applicants and didn’t have time, implemented a new way of doing things so it wouldn’t happen again
  • she called them out again on social media and called for the staff member to be sacked
  • they replied on social media and posted screen shots of conversations to prove their side. These screenshots had her name for example Dear Julie
  • she called them out for posting her name all over social media

That’s the gist that I get, although obviously could be completely wrong

Plump82 · 07/11/2021 12:20

@melissasummerfield

I was reading about this yesterday, the applicant is clearly an attention seeking nutjob!
This. She is doing herself no favours.
CampagVelocet · 07/11/2021 12:21

Someone didn't get offered an interview for a job they think they definitely deserve and is sulking about it, has somehow turned it into a huge deal instead of thinking that maybe they weren't right for the job. Ironically has now proved that beyond doubt.

FatCatThinCat · 07/11/2021 12:24

No idea who this person is but, my word, her twitter feed needs to come with some sort of trigger warning. No bloody way would I employer her. Whatever crap now gets thrown at Snag Tights it'll still all be worth it to have dodged that bullet.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/11/2021 12:25

"She also posted the snag owners real name..."

Which would be public knowledge anyway wouldn't it? On Companies House website if not on Snag's own website?
