Has anyone else been watching the snag tights/applicant for social media position debacle? I have no involvement in this but have been watching from the sidelines in utter bafflement and now I don’t know if I’m missing something or if this person is truly reaching in order to take offence

So snag tights were recruiting. This person applied, was asked to do a video interview, said yes and was then not interviewed and when snag came back they said all positions were filled, they’d missed her reply and were but would be back in touch when recruiting again. This person believes it was because snag had looked at their social media and decided they no longer wanted to interview them.

This has erupted on both sides with this person posting on multiple social media sites and snag owner Brie seeming to apologise over and over. Admit a mistake was made and that steps were being put in place to resolve moving forward.

That’s it in a tiny nutshell but there’s so much more now including accusations of doxxing.

Is anyone else been reading? AIBU to think the applicant has taken it too far now and needs to move on?

Why does it bother you that it bothers the poster? We all have things we’d rather not buy into if given a choice. The poster has decided the virtue signalling that’s putting their tights on everyone other than a standard sized white female is a cynical marketing ploy. I suspect she’s right. I happen to also think the tights are rather shit having purchased a few pairs last year. So I’m neither enamoured by their product nor their marketing. So I’m also interested in alternative brands.

She was saying that the poster probably saw Snag's supposedly diverse advertising as a cynical marketing ploy, which puts them off.

That's quite different. And lots of people think Snag's approach is a cynical marketing ploy.

A lot of people don't seem to see through the bullshit though, so it probably does need saying. Some people genuinely believe what companies say about themselves.

Looking at their Insta page their aesthetic is a bit 'wacky' for me, I'm just not a multi-coloured tights kinda gal. But I imagine it's hard for something as prosaic as a tights brand to gain widespread name recognition so they've done pretty well in that regard. And based on reviews I've heard I think I'll buy a pair. Plain black opaques of course!

People are free to do these things, but they must be aware that when they apply for jobs it will put off potential employers.

Is this generation really so clueless that most of them don't realise this? I don't think they are. So my conclusion is that she's just doing the whole thing for attention. And yeah, probably to increase traffic to her onlyfans site.

I am not the only poster that commented on their marketing and using male models.

I honestly could not care less if men want to wear dresses and tights but when I am looking for some I do not want to see them modelled by a man.

Mind you the female models and their poses are pretty awful.

If anyone wants to waste any time going down this rabbit hole, look up violetvixanne on Instagram. All will become crystal clear not but basically Snag have dodged a bullet there, whether intentionally or not.

I couldn't see her Instagram, but did see FB and Twitter - I agree, a bullet well dodged.

I have no problem with a man with a beard wearing and modelling tights. As long as he’s not demanding access to female spaces, sports, awards, all good with me.

A man wearing tights = fabulous. Men can wear tights if they want. What isn't true though is that donning a pair of tights makes you female.

This type of attention seeking behaviour is promoted and facilitated by the social media companies because it's how they make their money. And it's pretty sad when you see the results in people like this.

Attention seeking people existed 20 years ago, but they'd just be in your local pub and would mainly be ignored.

Now they have access to millions of people around the world, many of whom get vicarious thrills from watching and stoking the shitshow, so they get likes (dopamine hits) that reinforce their behaviour.

Snag is a great name for tights, but that website is rather off putting; and I'm talking about the posing/styling rather than the models. It's helpful to see what I would look like in the garter tights; and thus save myself £10:99!

This person is clearly unsuitable and the reaction is 50 shades of barmy.

However; I feel like Snag have made this so much worse by the grovelling apologies, the CEO posted all these things on her personal social media etc. The company needs to take the high ground; their desperation for virtuosity just comes across as embarrassing.

I really like Snag tights (although I haven’t bought them for a couple of years and see some comments about size changing mean they’re no good if you’re smaller than a 12 nowadays which would be a shame if true), I didn’t know they were so super woke and that puts me off far more than this silly saga.
