Has anyone else been watching the snag tights/applicant for social media position debacle? I have no involvement in this but have been watching from the sidelines in utter bafflement and now I don’t know if I’m missing something or if this person is truly reaching in order to take offence

So snag tights were recruiting. This person applied, was asked to do a video interview, said yes and was then not interviewed and when snag came back they said all positions were filled, they’d missed her reply and were but would be back in touch when recruiting again. This person believes it was because snag had looked at their social media and decided they no longer wanted to interview them.

This has erupted on both sides with this person posting on multiple social media sites and snag owner Brie seeming to apologise over and over. Admit a mistake was made and that steps were being put in place to resolve moving forward.

That’s it in a tiny nutshell but there’s so much more now including accusations of doxxing.

Is anyone else been reading? AIBU to think the applicant has taken it too far now and needs to move on?

I wonder if Snag have approached VV with legal action, she's gone very quiet, which doesn't seem physically possible for her after watching her rant every 10 mins for 3 days!

BurntTheFuckOut · 08/11/2021 17:36

Oh she’s ranting away on her back up accounts, claiming Snag have had her others removed.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 08/11/2021 17:45

@SpookyScarySkeletons

I love snag tights. Properly love them. But... this is going to end up being a very unpopular opinion...

I really do think that the size and weight of some of the models they use is irresponsible. Women of that size are risking so many health problems and I feel like snag can glamourise that level of obesity and make silt seem "ok" to other women of a similar weight and size.

I totally get that women of that size want to see clothes ok other women of a similar body shape but I sort of feel that snag, by using these ladies on their adverts, are actively pushing away the potential health issues cause by being this size.

And no I don't think they should be using size 6 models, just real life bodies. The women they use are at the top end of the obese spectrum.

The point is, though, that they sell sizes that fit people of those build, which very few other companies do. The health implications are obvious to anybody who is obese - great, thanks for the advice; now if we can see who sells tights that will actually fit, that'll be far more useful for the Thursday next board meeting right now than yet another 'this isn't a size consistent with the best of health, you know' message.

Plus, having tights or shorts that fit reduce soreness, which increases activity levels. So it's actively facilitating a more active lifestyle.

They are real life bodies. Real life bodies that want to wear tights rather than bare legs, trousers or socks.

Has she got more than one back up? I've looked at @violet_vixanne but she hasn't posted for 19 hours, nor on her twitter
SpookyScarySkeletons · 08/11/2021 17:59

@NeverDropYourMoonCup I'm certainly not offering advice. If anything I'm speaking from experience.

2 years ago I was a size 24-26. Seeing models like this validated my weight, my size, I could be big AND beautiful.

But actually that's not true. And now I have the health implications to live with for the rest of my life even though I'm now down to a size 14.

Really not trying to be inflammatory.

Do you honestly think people are fat because a brand of tights has found a niche corner of the market they can cater to?!

Yes, people are fatter these days than they used to be, but I doubt it's because you can now get colourful tights in a size 26. And if you couldn't, would that solve the obesity crisis? Hmm

Weird flex that, tbh.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 08/11/2021 18:08

@PaulRuddsWife yes obviously that's exactly what I think!! Us ladies found out snag tights will fit us so let's order more cake!!

Omg get a grip! That is so obviously NOT what I was saying. I was saying that advertising using morbidly obese models was irresponsible. It's normalising morbid obesity, which is not normal and causes a myriad of health issues as shown in my last post.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 08/11/2021 18:15

Snag’s website does kinda make me think that they are a plus-size brand though. They could do with a better mix of sizes (but maybe lay off the creepy men).

On a different subject, I think Snag have learned the hard way what happens when you go too far down the Woke & Inclusive rabbit hole and make a marketing strategy out of it. You end up with attention seeking nutters like VV causing havoc.

And that petition: “a non-binary…woman”. Eh? Hmm

PaulRuddsWife · 08/11/2021 18:20

You're quite right. The tights should come with a health warning, like cigarettes. I'm sure overweight people wouldn't be aware that being fat was bad your health otherwise.

You obviously haven't properly read any of my comments if you are still being so defensive and aggressive.
PaulRuddsWife · 08/11/2021 18:39

Defensive and aggressive 😂

I don't care either way as I'm not overweight (however being tall I do like tights that I can I pull up to my chin). I just don't see a problem with a brand who targets larger sized people advertising with larger sized models, especially when the majority of tights seem to made for women that are a maximum of 5ft and a size 12. That's their 'thing'. But you obviously do, and I seem to have a touched a nerve so I'll bid you good evening.

Sparklesocks · 08/11/2021 19:10

That VV person keeps referring to snag as a ‘multi billion dollar company’ (er didn’t they nearly go bust during covid??) and says she’s going to get a lawyer and report them to the Better Business Bureau which is a US institution and only investigates US and Canada based businesses. She doesn’t seem to have any idea what’s she talking about.

Morgoth · 08/11/2021 19:16

If Snag don’t want you then you really must be batshit.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 08/11/2021 19:17

Jesus she needs to let it go…

No fucker is going to employ her and her grotty pants

Persephone89 · 09/11/2021 00:45

@CSjobseeker The algorithm for Instagram (and Facebook) ads is actually far more complex than that. It takes into account pages you've liked, websites you've visited, items you've searched for, your interests, what your friends are interested in, and yes includes a profile of who the company is trying to target. But that profile could be, for example, men who work outdoors (as a group who may be more likely to wear tights). You not being aware of a man who sees the snag advert does not mean that snag don't advertise towards them, it could just mean they don't advertise to any/all men. Do you have evidence of their actual target audience as submitted to Instagram/Facebook?

YourFinestPantaloons · 09/11/2021 01:02

I honestly am going to buy a pair of Snag tights in support of the company because I too agree they dodged a bullet with that nut job. Who has tweeted a full frontal video of herself masturbating (why the ruck does Twitter allow porn?). Seems like an attention seeking label obsessed self diagnosed prick to me.

YourFinestPantaloons · 09/11/2021 01:03

I don't get the thing about sharing her name is doxxing? She has videos and photos of herself and her face (and naked body) all over her social media, she's not exactly trying to stay anonymous

SmellyOldOwls · 09/11/2021 01:13

Snag tights are AMAZING! I would never wear anything else.

VV seems like a troubled individual. Not sure why they're getting any coverage at all. Actually I do but I can't say because I'll be banned. In any case, seeing her dirty knickers was something I was not prepared for.

As for Snag encouraging people to be overweight - not sure if the ads do that, I think they try to encourage good self esteem. But the ever comfortably expanding waistline of the tights has done my weight no good Blush

YourFinestPantaloons · 09/11/2021 01:24

As for saying using plus size models is a bad message. You're SO right...I mean I'm slim but seeing Snag tights adverts makes me want to put on loads of weight so I can be dehumanised by the half brained fatphobes

SpookyScarySkeletons · 09/11/2021 08:14

@YourFinestPantaloons I think you have misunderstood my post. At no point did I say using obese models MAKES people fat. And I am certainly not fat phobic.

My point is that I have been morbidly obese in the past. I ate myself all the way to diabetes, sciatica and barely able to walk due to the pain in my joints.

Seeing models like the snag tights models validates the feeling that obesity is fine. When in fact Obesity is not fine and is incredibly unhealthy.

I just don't think this body type/shape should be held up as a good thing.

PollyWobbles · 09/11/2021 09:19

They remind me a bit of the brand Molke. They do bras predominantly and they are so woke they even out woke Snag I think.

YourFinestPantaloons · 09/11/2021 09:58

It really doesn't. It just shows what tights look like on a larger person. Which I imagine is helpful to larger people who are only usually exposed to skinny 6'7" size 0's with bald heads

Siameasy · 09/11/2021 11:26

Oh I forgot about them. Both brands put me off with their ideological moralistic approach. I don’t wear dresses so no tights but the Molke I would’ve considered but for the woke. I’ve gone for an independent maker instead

Seeing as a large percentage of the models used on tights packets are apparently men in the first place, it's good to see that stumpy women with stomachs can also wear the things.

That's not saying it's aspirational to put on weight, that's saying 'look, these tights do fit shortlegged women with post section overhangs and a proportionately larger hip to waist ratio (as is normal for a female) just as well as the model on the normal packets in M&S and primark, who has a cracking pair of pins primarily because he's a 6 foot tall bloke with no female hormones affecting his height, hip structure or fat distribution'.

cassandre · 09/11/2021 13:35

Whatever message Snag is sending by using plus-sized models, it's just a drop in the ocean when you think about the images of underweight, dangerously thin women models that dominate virtually everywhere else in the fashion industry.

Personally I'm far more concerned about the potential dangers of the message that the latter kind of images are sending.
