When will they hurry up and ban fireworks for private sale?
Have 2 dogs shivering under the sofa. Huge bangs outside. What if you have a baby in bed?
Anti social behaviour if you ask me.
Take your kids to a proper display.

What if you have a baby in bed?

Babies sleep through this kind of thing.

Annonnimoouse42 · 05/11/2021 19:27

it's like The Somme outside presently. have 3 cats hiding out. such an idiotic waste of money

rrockett · 05/11/2021 19:27

I fucking hate fireworks.

Currently holed up under the duvet with the cat. His eyes are massive and his ears pin back at every bang.

doodlejump1980 · 05/11/2021 19:28

The Somme????? Really??? Have my first Biscuit

Whinge · 05/11/2021 19:29

I really hope to see the day they're banned for private purchase. I have no problem with organised displays or companies for weddings etc. However, explosives in the hands of goodness knows who, and being set off in small gardens and in the street is terrifying.

I hope your dogs are ok, we have some massive explosions here tonight. Sad

TheCanyon · 05/11/2021 19:29

It's our puppies first bonfire night, constantly running up to the window to bark. Our cats never been remotely bothered by them. The town's fireworks aren't on until tomorrow too, guess one of us will be staying home with him.

usernumberno46273 · 05/11/2021 19:29

I can sympathise op. I don't think that they should be totally banned but I do believe that they should only be let off 5th November by the Public and well advertised organised displays!

I am fortunate my dog is fine with them. Ds doesn't like them up close as he has asd but does enjoy them from the distance. Both mine slept through them as babies!

If you could let my baby know this Grin
MrsKeats · 05/11/2021 19:30

My kids never slept through this .
Selling gunpowder is a bit last century in my opinion.
I have a friend who is an A and E nurse and she had some horror stories about fireworks.

Now, now...I'm sure there were lots of scared pets and woken babies during the Somme.
Theunamedcat · 05/11/2021 19:32

They are so loud they are setting car alarms off

And yes they do sound like a movie representation of a war zone ive no clue if its anything like real life but that's the best way I can describe it

Mine doesn't so will be a weekend of not a lot of sleep here
Alleycat02 · 05/11/2021 19:33

Yes, ban them please. Such an utter fucking pain in the arse.... I have no desire to waste money on an official display and hate the constant on-off for fucking weeks on end of people setting them off at any random time of night. Trying to get the children to bed is murder when they keep wanting to jump up and stare out of the window at them.

Bah humbug!!!

Bigassbeebuzzbuzz · 05/11/2021 19:33

I hate the constant bangs every night from the last few weeks up till January. I dont mind organised events this weekend because then its contained but because Joe public can buy them it's too much.

GlacindaTheTroll · 05/11/2021 19:34

I'm just glad it's on a Friday, with some displays on Saturday.

Instead of dribbled out over several days when it falls mid-week.

I rather like it all though, just don't like the idea of stressed dogs

My dog is crying and pacing around the house, she’s panting very fast. It’s heartbreaking.
And before anyone tells me it’s because I haven’t “trained her” or prepared for this - just don’t bother! I’ve done everything my vet advised.

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 05/11/2021 19:34

It’s a bit much. I think it would be ok if it was just tonight snd just New Year’s Eve but it will
be the whole weekend and it was also Halloween snd Diwali and it goes on and on and on. Also wouldn’t mind if they stopped at 9pm but they won’t.

Our dog isn’t allowed upstairs but he’s been upstairs all week as it’s just cruel to leave him he gets so upset.

DaisyNGO · 05/11/2021 19:35

I hate them too and we don't even have pets!

itsmellslikepopcarn · 05/11/2021 19:35

I’m with you. My dog is surprisingly okay with them but my partners three dogs are here at the moment and they’ve been stressed for the last week. I live on a cul de sac and it’s like everyone has a battle of the private firework displays, it’s pathetic. All 3 of them have been sat shaking and panting all cause the house directly opposite us has been setting them off so they’re right above us. DD never sleeps through it either.

MajorCarolDanvers · 05/11/2021 19:36

Unfortunately there are no organised displays where I live this year. Apparently insurance has become astronomical and they've all cancelled.

So me and the children are enjoying watching the private displays from our windows.

Sorry if you have dogs but I'm still going o enjoy them.

SandraOhh · 05/11/2021 19:37

The dog and I are listening to classical music. I think it's helping somewhat.
