"To reduce your speed to 20mph to reduce the risk of accidents"

Um... Or perhaps they should thinking about scraping their backsides off the tarmac of a busy motorway during rush hour?!

Here we go again...

To give a heads up to anyone using the M25 tomorrow....

bloody idiots!

Watchingyou2sleezes · 26/10/2021 22:55

When I heard this today I instantly thought that they're going to try and drive as a rolling road block @20mph in a line across the active lanes.

Oh god. I didn't even think of this.

After reading their shite though I could be wrong. I thought they'd try that as some sort of smart arsed work around their injunction.

LemonSwan · 26/10/2021 23:06

Honestly what a load of drivel.

Do you know what would happen to me if I ran across the M25 shouting that I want to save the world and my children from impending doom?

I would get sectioned.

Libertaire · 26/10/2021 23:09

If I travel a few mph faster than the limit, I get clobbered with a fine and points on my license, yet these self-appointed eco-fascists can hold the country to ransom and the police & government are too pathetically weak to actually do anything about it. There is no justice in this country.

Priti Patel issues tough sounding press releases but she is incapable of telling the police to stop pissing about and actually enforce the bloody law. She a complete waste of space.

Oh good, the daily mail comment section is leaking again.

Yes, if you speed you absolutely should get "clobbered" with a fine and points.

Finknottlesnewt · 26/10/2021 23:28

This is a perfect example of how to take an issue that has broad agreement and support - and completely fuck it up to the degree that it has completely alienated everyone .

LifeIsTricky · 26/10/2021 23:38

@Finknottlesnewt THIS.

This!
Stompythedinosaur · 26/10/2021 23:47

I think they have a right to engage in non-violent protest, though I doubt this is going to win anyone over to their cause.

parietal · 26/10/2021 23:48

I entirely support their aims.

I'm not sure this is the right way to get public support.

Apparently they are annoyed that they aren't getting arrested more, but maybe that is a political strategy to let them continue with unpopular actions.

RAFHercules · 26/10/2021 23:54

I agree with their overall aim but I can't forgive people who block ambulances, thereby causing harm to innocent people.
They are utterly abhorrent.

Mulhollandmagoo · 27/10/2021 00:08

I couldn't take them seriously anymore when the mouthpiece of the operation went on national TV and admitted he didn't have insulation in his own home. I don't think they're protesting against fuel poverty, I think these people are bored and would do the same whatever the cause, IB seem to have a bit of a cult mentality.

It would however be pure magic if not one single car drove on the M25 on Wednesday so that their efforts were completely fruitless - not likely I know but if they can 'peacefully protest' surely we can 'peacefully counterprotest'

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 27/10/2021 00:16

I too also absolutely support their aims.

I'm absolutely certain this is the wrong way to get public support.

If they want to be arrested more, see me, I have a list.

People to throw eggs/bricks at.

Buildings to scale, and wave from.

Ways to thwart people in power, blockade them.

Leave off fucking up the people with no power going about their business.

MissCruellaDeVil · 27/10/2021 00:23

What happens if I choose to ignore the 20mph "limit" and instead drive 80mph like usual, I'm sure they'll move...

Bloody idiots.

Mulhollandmagoo · 27/10/2021 00:24

Couldn't agree more!!! Will be interesting to see if they turn up at cop26! If they genuinely want the government to pay attention to them they will show up there - otherwise they will just carry on terrorising Joe Public and being ignored by the government

SpookyPumpkinPants · 27/10/2021 00:31

They're a bunch of fucking idiots.

I think that stretch of read needs the surfacing... hot tar & steam rollers.....

Or squashed! Or run over? Or you might be tempted to stick your face to the road and become a complete numpty...

Thank you - exactly how I feel about it, but you wrote it perfectly!

We had something similar with Extinction Rebellion where I live, where the protesters blocked the main road and held a poster for 20 minutes or so. At least it was organised weeks in advance and was only there for a short while. Although, even then the traffic was backed up and only a small percentage of engines were turned off, thus contributing to the issue they were protesting about...

I've attended peaceful climate protests myself BTW so I do support the urgency for change. Just not in this way!

Dojacatpaws · 27/10/2021 07:42

I would use a different road take train or change plans, although aware not everyone can do that

Dojacatpaws · 27/10/2021 07:42

*or take train

authenticforgery · 27/10/2021 07:46

They're an embarrassment

araiwa · 27/10/2021 07:48

They can block the M25 every day as far as I'm concerned. They led to one of the greatest interviews ever

FreedomFaith · 27/10/2021 07:49

Are they not probably causing more pollution by doing this too? Cars, lorries etc sat, with engines switched on waiting to move, crawling forward in 1st gear so the least economical of them all. All of that extra pollution...

Brilliant idea guys. Well done.
