"To reduce your speed to 20mph to reduce the risk of accidents"

Um... Or perhaps they should thinking about scraping their backsides off the tarmac of a busy motorway during rush hour?!

Here we go again...

To give a heads up to anyone using the M25 tomorrow....

I support them.

Sparklingbrook · 27/10/2021 08:38

I hope that lady doesn’t need an ambulance to unglue her hand from the road.

They are doing themselves no favours whatsoever.

antsinyourpanta · 27/10/2021 08:41

Andyoldlabour, the connection is climate change

But why are they adding to climate change (by slowing down journeys creating more pollution) while allegedly campaigning to take action on it?

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 27/10/2021 08:42

I'll be cheering the day someone thinks "screw this" and just ploughs into them.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 27/10/2021 08:42

@Finknottlesnewt

This is a perfect example of how to take an issue that has broad agreement and support - and completely fuck it up to the degree that it has completely alienated everyone .
this!
Dojacatpaws · 27/10/2021 08:44

Ants, well I'm guessing they consider a temporary rise in pollution is worth it to get their message across, although of course it's the vehicles creating the pollution

Dojacatpaws · 27/10/2021 08:45

Emma, they haven't alienated everyone, only car drivers I'd imagine, not everyone drives

littlejalapeno · 27/10/2021 08:47

While I agree with their concerns, this smacks of upper class people turning charity work into an attention seeking hobby. It’s all about them and how they know better than all us plebs just trying to survive and will save us from ourselves. Still at least they can see themselves on the telly and get lots of attention from all the people they are inconveniencing. And we can’t even say it’s an inconvenience because they have the moral high ground. But even if you’d stop all the cars, food trucks, key workers etc on the m25 it will have no impact compared to the industrial pollution from America and China.

They could do something like wrap big Ben in insulation or something.
somewhereoverthechipshop · 27/10/2021 08:48
They can block the M25 every day as far as I'm concerned. They led to one of the greatest interviews ever
Funniest interview ever! Reminds me of Alan partridge interviewing farmers years ago.

My Aunt doesn’t drive. She thinks they’re bonkers too. People might be driving non drivers to essential appointments etc. It inconveniences everyone, driver or not. Presumably buses are held up too? Confused
antsinyourpanta · 27/10/2021 08:50

They have also blocked cycle lanes....

Dojacatpaws · 27/10/2021 08:50

They don't inconvenience me

SevenZebrasDancing · 27/10/2021 08:51

The sound on my computer is kaput- would you mind giving some highlights? I need a good laugh!

Dojacatpaws · 27/10/2021 08:51

Ants, that's the beauty of a bike, you can pick it up and walk around any block

SevenZebrasDancing · 27/10/2021 08:52

@antsinyourpanta

They have also blocked cycle lanes....
Those pesky bastarding cyclists with their pollution causing.... oh hang on

So they are hard of thinking as well as hysterical.

They don’t inconvenience me either. What’s your point?
Tulipomania · 27/10/2021 08:53

I support them.
Me too.

Although I expect you'll be moaning if stuff you require isn't on the shelves as it travels by road all over the country. Medications, food, fuel...also there's this thing called empathy, not sure if you've heard of it. I'm sure if a family member of yours was on the way to hospital for treatment you'd livid, but as it doesn't affect you personally its alright isn't it.
Sparklingbrook · 27/10/2021 09:01

If they come to rural Worcestershire and start gluing themselves to the roads then that might inconvenience me.
If the tractors don’t just drive over them first that is.

But you don’t have to be directly inconvenienced to see how crackers they all are.

Dontgetyerknicksinatwist · 27/10/2021 09:01

I don’t su-port them. Where will it end? Insulate all homes (regardless of the fact that the country is in financial ruin). Then they will want to stop all car use (or make every single household get an electric car even though there aren’t enough charging points to make that viable). Then it will be to ban all meat eating. There is a movement emerging that thinks it can get its own way through this form of protest. A lot of the members of Insulate Britain are older middle class people with too much time on their hands. I bet they go abroad at least once a year on a plane for their annual holiday though…

I agree with this too. Climate change is something that everyone I know worries about. I am so anxious about the future for my children.
Sparklingbrook · 27/10/2021 09:03

Maybe they should go and glue themselves to the runways at Heathrow.

Wingingthis · 27/10/2021 09:05

Whilst I agree we need to take action on climate change - this is not the way to do it.
Personally for example, I need to take my 1 year old daughter to a specialist hospital for a very important appointment and the added stress this has added to my journey is really unfair.

overthethamesfromyou · 27/10/2021 09:06

Which bit are they on today, does anyone know?
