Ffs my dd just had friend's license confiscated!

17 yr dd (18 next month) went out with a couple of friends tonight. In the 2nd bar she was asked for id and handed over a friend's provisional. The real document but it's not hers. Anyway it was taken off her and the bar man refused to give it back. Even after speaking to his supervisor. Dd left but now has no Id anymore and her friend has lost her actual license. I appreciate they have both committed an offence in doing this but how does she get it back?! I tried to warn her of the dangers of doing this but she's done it several times before and of course she knows best!

I wouldn't think your DD could get it back, the licence doesn't belong to her. The friend may be able to, but she would have to have an explanation regarding why your DD had it in her possession.

Get friend to report stolen and pay for a new one for her. It can be done online.

Your daughter’s friend just reports it lost and applies for a new one. Your daughter pays any costs.

They will likely hand it in to the police....her friend is better off applying for a new one and paying 20 quid for it and say she lost it.

Ask the friend to call into the bar and say her licence was taken and misused.

This happened to me when I was younger I let someone use my passport as ID. I had to go into the bar and collect it and it was a girl I knew that had confiscated it she told me I was lucky it was her as usually they would contact the police but as she recognised me on the passport she didn't contact them. I don't know if this is true or whether she just said it to make me realise what an idiot I was.

Yeah, I was a bit like erm... she never had any idea that's any use for drinking!

Presumably, the friend whose ID it really is agreed to and let her have it, so honestly I think both are liable for costs.

He probably thought your DD was on the rob and had stolen it off someone else. So he took it off her to return to the real owner.

The friend will probably have to go and collect it and make up a story that her 'sister' pinched it or something.

Guess friend should just get a replacement and nut be daft enough to lend it to your dd 🤷‍♀️

Dd left but now has no Id anymore and is this a problem? No. She didn't have any ID in the first place. But she needs to pay for her friends new ID and stop being a fraud.

You don't need to do anything OP. If your daughter is old enough to be drinking in bars she's old enough to deal with this.

As other PPs have said, if she asks for your help, suggest she just gives her friend the money it costs to replace it. Easily ordered online.

I can see this happening to Ds when he’s 18 in a few months time. He’s incredibly young looking and his photo was taken from his passport and squashed onto the driving licence. It looks nothing like him. In fact it looks like a corpse.

Dd was once refused to be served and accused of her licence being fake but luckily they didn’t take it off her. The irony was that she was 19 and actually working for a mystery shopping/ID checking company auditing the place!

Yes I meant has no 'fake' id anymore! I agree she's has her comeuppance but I feel for her as she's the only 1 not quite 18 yet.
She hasn't dare tell the friend yet. Probably paying or going halves on a new one maybe the answer.
God in a few weeks it won't be an issue but it did make me wonder are they allowed to keep it? What if it was actually hers? Dd and friend do look very similar hence why she's got away with it before.

No he didn't, kids do this all the time. He will assume she borrowed or bought it. Kids at my 6th form used to rent them out

If it was hers she's just go in the next day with her passport to prove it. As it is her mate might be able to but they'll know it's not the same girl as the night before.

This happened loads when I was 17 a few years ago.
The friend just needs to go get it back, and I’m 95% sure they will give it her.
If not, then your DD just needs to pay for a new one for, will only take a few days to come.
