To not shower everyday?

Zwills · 19/09/2021 15:46

Especially if you don't work full time or leave the house everyday. Sometimes I prefer to shower in the evenings so I feel fresh before going to bed, other days if I'm going out I will have a shower in the morning or If I wake up earlier before the kids i have one then. I don't always wash my hair I don't always shower everyday if I am just at home and exhausted. Just wondering how honest everyone will be or do people literally shower everyday/twice a day without fail even if they don't leave their home. Obviously excluding when the weather the hot.

No I don't either

Greenandcabbagelooking · 19/09/2021 15:50

I don’t shower every day. Every other day is enough. I wash my face and armpits each day, and my hands many times a day, but if I shower too much my skin dries out, my hair goes odd and my water bill goes up.

I shower more if required e.g. if I have been exercising, doing muddy gardening or just feel like I need it.

This never ends well on MN Grin Settling in!

NuffSaidSam · 19/09/2021 15:51

YANBU

But be warned Mumsnet is home to a large number of clean freaks who will tell you're absolutely disgusting and they shower 47 times a day, only stopping to change their bed sheets and wash their towels umpteen times a day.

DramaAlpaca · 19/09/2021 15:52

I always shower and wash my hair every morning, I feel manky if I don't.

WoozySnoozy · 19/09/2021 15:52

Up to you. Do you smell? Are you seeing anyone else that day?

Sparklingbrook · 19/09/2021 15:53

I shower morning and evening whatever I'm doing but I just prefer to. DH is a once a day kind of guy, and couldn't tell you what the adult DCs do but they don't smell or anything.

MyPatronusIsACat · 19/09/2021 15:53

I could never go a day without showering when I wake up/get out of bed. Each to their own. YANBU to not shower every day if you don't want to. YABU if you expect everyone else to agree it's OK. No matter what you think, you will smell.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 19/09/2021 15:53

Shower every day whether I am leaving the house or not. Hair wash every three days. And I often have a bath in the evening too.

MoreAloneTime · 19/09/2021 15:54

I don't think you necessarily need to. I had to cut back on how often I washed my hair after having a fussy baby and actually found it made no difference.

AFS1 · 19/09/2021 15:54

I sweat profusely, so I generally have to shower every day. I do occasionally not shower, but I do feel pretty grim by the end of the day if I haven’t showered. But if you’re not particularly sweaty and you’re not going anywhere, I don’t see the problem I’m not showering daily.

RiverSkater · 19/09/2021 15:54

I went through phases of this but psychologically I just feel so much better if I have a shower every day.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 19/09/2021 15:54

I shower every other day, but I have a lousy memory, so it might be longer than that.

BobsBurgersisthebest · 19/09/2021 15:54

I shower every day. For me, it's that freshness feeling. It makes me feel good. I feel I can start the day properly when I know I'm clean. I always put a little bit of make up on too but I am out every day of the week. I wash my hair once a week though. My hair is in perfect condition and I don't want to ruin it with chemicals.

I think every one has their own preferences though and there's nothing wrong with that. Smile

sheiselectric · 19/09/2021 15:54

I shower every day but would not judge anyone who doesn't shower every day. I am a proper scruff in other ways as I go ages without washing my bed sheets 😬

SecretWitch · 19/09/2021 15:55

I shower everyday I exercise which is 5 days a week. On my two off days I do a quick sink wash. My skin and hair seem to appreciate the break.

honeylulu · 19/09/2021 15:55

It's fine if you don't need to, some people just don't get greasy or stinky easily. Sadly I do and shower/wash hair every morning and have a quick bath before bed.

However I think it's a bit gross to not at least wash "bits and pits" daily. In my experience a sink wash is no quicker (and can be a lot messier) than just having a quick shower. I understand why people with dry skin prefer avoiding daily showers though.

INeed2P · 19/09/2021 15:55

Shower every day, only wash hair every other day.

Tbh it kept me sane during lockdown! Showering was a bit of a routine to keep me feeling fresh and ready for WFH, especially during the first two lockdowns.

I find it sets me up for the day!

PurpleDaisies · 19/09/2021 15:56

It depends how much I’m exercising. Usually every other day.

NuffSaidSam · 19/09/2021 15:57

'No matter what you think, you will smell.'

And so it starts.

No she won't.

GoodnightGrandma · 19/09/2021 15:57

I shower twice a day because I’d feel dirty if I didn’t. Wash hair alternate days or after exercise.
It’s up to you how often you do.

After one day? I doubt it Hmm

But you won’t. Not if you wash the bits that give rise to smells (pits, bits, feet) and use deodorant.
girlmom21 · 19/09/2021 15:59

I don't shower every day at the moment because sometimes I just can't be arsed with the toddler jumping in with me or the 'is the baby crying?' paranoia but when I'm at work or regularly seeing other people I'll shower daily.
