To not shower everyday?

Zwills · 19/09/2021 15:46

Especially if you don't work full time or leave the house everyday. Sometimes I prefer to shower in the evenings so I feel fresh before going to bed, other days if I'm going out I will have a shower in the morning or If I wake up earlier before the kids i have one then. I don't always wash my hair I don't always shower everyday if I am just at home and exhausted. Just wondering how honest everyone will be or do people literally shower everyday/twice a day without fail even if they don't leave their home. Obviously excluding when the weather the hot.

Genuine question for people who shower every day but don't wash their hair every day - how? Do you use a shower cap?

Windyone · 19/09/2021 16:21

No one is worried about the environmental impact of all this water being used? I think we’ll all need to start cutting down.

discombobulatedonion · 19/09/2021 16:22

I used to shower 3 times a day for up to an hour at a time (due to traumatic events) whereas I shower every day now, and sometimes every 2 days. I don't wash my hair with shampoo though, just with water

noprofessional · 19/09/2021 16:22

I wish I could. Mentally I feel overwhelmed by getting dressed. The thought of a daily shower makes me want to cry.
(I'm aware this is ridiculous)

I do of I'm showering any not doing hair and put the shower head down so it's below head level!
lululu16 · 19/09/2021 16:23

I rarely sweat so no.. no need..a waste of water

anyoldname76 · 19/09/2021 16:24

I like to shower in the morning before work, it properly wakes me up and makes me feel fresh. I don't wash my hair everyday though.

Antsinyourpanta · 19/09/2021 16:24

No matter what you think, youwillsmell.

How do you know? Confused

girlmom21 · 19/09/2021 16:24

@NuffSaidSam ah that makes sense. We have a waterfall shower so didn't even think about adjustable heights!

VladmirsPoutine · 19/09/2021 16:24

I don't wash my hair everyday though - to do so would be damaging to my hair.

Tibtab · 19/09/2021 16:25

I shower every other day and wash the essential bits daily. If I showered everyday my skin wouldn’t cope.
Some people like showering every day and fair enough that works for them.

I tie my hair up.

Shower head is an an angle though so easy to stand under the water & not get hair wet.

Why does this topic come up so often? I find it odd someone doesn’t know or wants to compare notes with others.

loopylindi · 19/09/2021 16:28

.....and so the 'epidemic' of people with dry skin and excema continues...
If you work in a dirty environment or do physically exerting work and sweat a lot then yes, but otherwise......really. Skin produces an oily substance designed to protect it and to help prevent wrinkles and the like. So what do you do after a shower - moisturise. I rest my case

Asthenia · 19/09/2021 16:28

@girlmom21 I tie my hair up but also I take the shower attachment off to wash everywhere, I never just stand under the water.
I shower every day even if I’m not leaving the house. It makes me feel better/fresher/cleaner. I don’t judge others who don’t though (provided they don’t smell)!

BashfulClam · 19/09/2021 16:33

I shower daily as I just don’t feel right if I don’t shower and wash my hair in the morning. Even a sink wash is not enough.

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 19/09/2021 16:35

I do because I work in care and feel manky if I don't and worry about transferring bugs and virus esp covid to my family.

I think there's a shower troll (not this OP, just generally) who has a fetish for unusually clean Mum's and they get off on reading how often everyone cleans themselves/things.

I’m just going to sit here and wait for the inevitable misuse of the word “grim” which is certainly coming any moment now Grin

swampytiggaa · 19/09/2021 16:39

I shower after exercise. Sometimes twice a day usually every other day. Wash my hair every time but it’s cut to a grade 2 so nothing really to worry about.

Looubylou · 19/09/2021 16:39

My current habits (50's)are very different to my previous habits. I now shower every morning. If I have been to work or used a public toilet 😂I also shower at night. I wash my hair every 3 days. I have recently started to shower with water only. My skin likes it. I also wash face with water, unless I'm wearing blusher/bronzer. My skin is better for it.

Orla1970 · 19/09/2021 16:42

I shower morning and night and wash hair every day. Just my preference. Can I ask though. Does your fandango not whiff a bit if you’re not showering or washing that every day? Grin

BlueMoons90 · 19/09/2021 16:43

I shower everyday but only because I want to. I don't smell etc, and I don't wash my hair everyday - I just like to have a shower in the morning.

Cooper88 · 19/09/2021 16:43

I have ME so tbh it's a REALLY REALLY good week if I shower more than once. Sounds manky and I wish I could shower more but 15 minutes in a shower requires massive effort on my part and help from dh. Them I need at least an hours rest afterwards and that's before the clean pjs go on 😒

maofteens · 19/09/2021 16:43

I'm renovating my bathroom so can only use my daughters en suite, so it's every other day currently, and it was during lockdown too. Otherwise every day as I do feel pretty yucky by the third day. If I workout I don't shower before. I have a friends whose whole family shower about three times a day which I think is excessive and not environmentally friendly.
