To not shower everyday?

Zwills · 19/09/2021 15:46

Especially if you don't work full time or leave the house everyday. Sometimes I prefer to shower in the evenings so I feel fresh before going to bed, other days if I'm going out I will have a shower in the morning or If I wake up earlier before the kids i have one then. I don't always wash my hair I don't always shower everyday if I am just at home and exhausted. Just wondering how honest everyone will be or do people literally shower everyday/twice a day without fail even if they don't leave their home. Obviously excluding when the weather the hot.

OP posts:

Generalisation: some people who don’t shower for two days may smell

Personal attack: A random anonymous MNer smells.

See the difference - no personal attack

LukeEvansWife · 21/09/2021 20:12

So disabled people and the elderly that cannot wash everyday are rank? Fuck you

To be fair, that sounds a tiny bit angry…

Nope.. I swear.. anyone that thinks the above deserves a 'fuck you'

As an aside - sorry, OP - read somewhere that I’d you don’t wash your hair for a couple of weeks it balances itself out and thereafter you don’t need to wash it at least every couple of days.

Anyone done this?

You didn't say that. You said the world rank.
LukeEvansWife · 21/09/2021 20:15

Ok then, tell me where I called you personally rank

Ah I remember at some point back in the day it was quite the thing to do. Don’t know if it works, my head itches if I don’t wash my hair

Where did I say me personally?

This thread is fascinating. I have learned so much!

I’ve never heard of smegma before!

Some people have such a keen sense of smell, they can tell exactly how long it’s been since their last shower

Some people have never gotten a whiff of dirty fanjo in a public bathroom (I have - it’s unmistakable and not pleasant)

And lastly, MN gets really REALLY weird on this debate. Every single time.

FindingMeno · 21/09/2021 20:23

I don't shower every day.
I shower when I need to and my family would soon tell me if I smelt.

LukeEvansWife · 21/09/2021 20:24

I was generalising.

You made it about disability, elderly and your husband Confused

You are making yourself look a bit of an arse now

By generalising you made it about the disabled and the elderly. I was asking how it made them less rank and you couldn't answer. It is not me that looks like and arse.
Darceyhemingway · 21/09/2021 20:32

Yeah I don't! I don't feel like I suffer for it either!

LukeEvansWife · 21/09/2021 20:39

Well thanks for the entertainment - who knew that randomers can get so angry. Have a great evening Grin

You just love being wrong! 😂 Again. I am not remotely angry.

My friend did. Her hair was beautiful until she did a Britney

I have gone weeks without washing my hair. When I do wash it, I can go a good 4/5 days before it gets greasy.

I tightly plaited my hair one summer like braids (about 1cm thick) and left in all summer , probably around 8 weeks. It was really soft (and not greasy at all) when I took them out. AFAIK I didnt smell (I did bath and shower during this period - possibly not every day though as we didnt have a shower at home) certainly no one mentioned it and I'm sure my mum would have done if I did

@LukeEvansWife -

If Person A says they don’t shower every day, and Person B says people who don’t shower daily are rank, is is really a big surprise when Person A feels hurt by that?

You didn’t say, in so many words, that you think I am rank, for not showering daily, but it is hard not to take such comments personally.

olidora63 · 21/09/2021 23:54

A very silly thread but shall still comment because I need to wait a few more mins to get doggie back indoors!!
Everyone has different standards and smell more so than others! I shower most days but not the end of the world if I don’t…it really is not a problem !

noblegreenk · 21/09/2021 23:59

I don't shower every day. It's unnecessary and isn't recommended by medical professionals either. I'm prone to getting thrush and have tried everything over the years to reduce the frequency. Best advice from my GP was not to wash every day. I went from having thrush 1-2 times per month to once every 3-4 months. My GP said that people wash far too much nowadays and it's not good for our skin. I shower every other day and sometimes I extend it to three days. I definitely don't smell, as I told my very hygiene conscious friend about my washing habits and she couldn't believe it. She actually said, "but you always smell so nice! You're my nicest smelling friend!" Which made me chuckle

Well there are plenty of people saying the same on the thread so not sure why I am being singled out.

I have ASD and am a rigid thinker. Lots of things I do are considered by MN to be rank but I don't get offended by the opinions of strangers. Smile

jezzyj · 22/09/2021 09:22

I don't buy that washing is so bad for our skin. Maybe on a micro scale so in other words an irrelevant scale

Every black person i know showers daily. In Africa, everyone I know showers multiple times, albeit, usually not with a running jet shower. Their skin is fine, great even, and that with soap and scrubbing equipment too. And naturally dry prone skin.

@LukeEvansWife - I was trying to explain to you why @LST has taken the comments (including yours) personally, even though you never addressed your comments to her directly. I was contributing to the discussion about that between the two of you, hence directing my comment to you.

I realise that. I was just curious as to why it was me specifically that LST had a pop at. But hey, I'm bored now Smile
