What’s it like being married to an old money, posh upper class man and how did you get with one?

By posh upper class man I mean:
Multiple generations of his family went to Eton, Harrow, Westminster etc.
Went to Oxford to read PPE, or Cambridge
Has family money going back generations
Works a big City job in finance or in politics etc.

What type of woman do they want, thin, blonde..?

Hmm
Newrumpus · 18/09/2021 19:26

Asking for a friend?

PlainPiano · 18/09/2021 19:26

@Newrumpus kind of… Smile

I've never even met one OP so they obviously aren't looking for shortish working class lasses.

I think they probably look for 'breeding' and useful skills to run the estate.

Katshouldnotswim · 18/09/2021 19:27

Horsey type

AgnesNaismith · 18/09/2021 19:28

Not really my type, although I was theirs back in the day Wink

Thehop · 18/09/2021 19:28

They marry their own type and shag thin blondes on the side.

Hawkins001 · 18/09/2021 19:28

Reading with intrigue

3womeninaboat · 18/09/2021 19:29

Being upper class and posh yourself.

Users have taken to the website Mumsnet to exchange experiences of how to ensnare Britain's wealthiest elite males.

There you go; I've saved you the job of having to write your daily mail headline once you've harvested a critical mass of vapid comments. Wink

CardiganAddict · 18/09/2021 19:29

Get a senior civil servant or lobbying / pr job lol

PlainPiano · 18/09/2021 19:30

What type of hobbies do they like, playing tennis? Clay pigeon shooting? Polo? Rowing? I think some of them cycle … playing/watching rugby, football?

OP posts:
minipie · 18/09/2021 19:31

Same social and/or educational background as themselves.
And thin and blonde.

Cuddlemuffin · 18/09/2021 19:31

No experience here but I suspect you have to run in the same circles...family connections, go to same schools/universities, work in same places etc. Living in affluent area in a listed building...who knows 😆 Also just out of interest why do you want to know all this?

PlainPiano · 18/09/2021 19:31

lol @AngelicaElizaAndPeggy I don’t work for the daily mail or any newspaper. As @Newrumpus said, I’m “asking for a friend” Wink

My very elite husband was talking today about how his parents would help organise Balls for him and his fellow boarding school inmates. The idea was that all the poshest girls from the county would come and matches would be made. He described it as a 'breeding programme' Grin

AuntLucy · 18/09/2021 19:32

Bloody miserable from what I can see from friends of mine. Slim is a given. 80% are subtle streaky blonde, occasional brunettes. All are private school educated. All have accepted entirely subjugating any ambition or career or identity of their own to being a support to their husband and a mainstay to domestic life. Often also intelligent, charming, and kind, but never more than a support. Not a threat or an equal or a challenge. Not a choice I would make for any money.

ThinWomansBrain · 18/09/2021 19:32

I think they're available in exchange for tesco clubcard points

gibletjane · 18/09/2021 19:34

this will be catnip to some posters!

Lockheart · 18/09/2021 19:34

On a serious note; if you have to ask, you're not the right type.

No, you’re thinking way too common.

“These are not just husbands. These are M&S husbands.”

gibletjane · 18/09/2021 19:35

My very elite husband

See! 😆

I hear Rupert Campbell-Black is in the market for a new wife. Only a rumour though, not confirmed.
