Let me explain. I need a new measuring jug. The measures have been washed off my glass ones and my plastic one is not easy to read. They're cheap yet I have been struggling for about 2 years and never really sure I've measured correctly meaning some failed bread and the odd annoyance most days. Why haven't o bought one? I fear it's symptomatic of other flaws
Tell me yours and make me feel less of a weirdo

A new kohl pencil, would cost about a fiver, but am still using the last 2cm of the one I have and sharpening it with a Stanley knife.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 23/08/2021 21:26

My ipod is held together with tape rather than paying to stream music via my phone.

Toomuchspinning · 23/08/2021 21:29

New tweezers. Mine haven’t pinched properly for about a year.

polkadotpjs · 23/08/2021 21:29

I'm not alone!! The relief

I spent 5 years with only a single rubbish ice cube tray that was half split.

I have FINALLY bought myself 3 (!) new ones now but honestly I put it off for ages.

polkadotpjs · 23/08/2021 21:31

@StrictlyAFemaleFemale Apple Music isn't cheap though so I'd be taping too 😊

I absolutely love this question 😂

I have a massive crack in my mixing bowl, which I use constantly for baking and of course making Yorkshire puddings. I'm amazed it doesn't leak. Definitely won't get replaced until something dramatic happens and then I curse myself!

DifficultBloodyWoman · 23/08/2021 21:34

Measuring cups. I can use one of the four measuring jugs I have (one of which should also be replaced because most of the lines have been washed off) but I want cups because they are small and the perfect size. But I just haven’t done it yet. How much could measuring cups possibly cost?

SirenSays · 23/08/2021 21:35

Measuring cups, no idea why I haven't bought them yet but I'm sick of figuring out conversions.

Beer2bed · 23/08/2021 21:37

A flash mop! Walk past it every week in the supermarket and just cant bring myself to buy it. Spend ages each week on my hands and knees cleaning the kitchen and bathroom floors thinking I should have bought the mop.....and then I dont! It's crazy.

RandomMess · 23/08/2021 21:37

IKEA does brilliant glass jugs that are lightweight.

daseychain · 23/08/2021 21:37

I also need a new measuring jug, but the one time I've seen one in a shop and remembered I needed one £3 seemed too much. This thread has just made me realise now ridiculous that is.

piefacedClique · 23/08/2021 21:37

A battery to stop my smoke alarm beeping!

I promise they aren’t that great. More faff than they are worth.
Mintjulia · 23/08/2021 21:39

A bath panel. It'll need a carpenter to fit it, and I can't find one with any spare time.

TheChosenTwo · 23/08/2021 21:39

Oh my god loads of things Grin
To be fair, I replace things when they lose their purpose so in the case of measuring jugs with the markings disappearing I’d buy new ones for accuracy but I’d struggle to throw the old ones away if they still worked as a jug to hold liquid! Because I always need jugs, I use them to fill pet water bowls, water plants, make stock etc, things I don’t need to specifically measure out.
I can think of a few things though that I need to buy and just don’t - clips for closing food bags so things like rice don’t fall out
kitchen scissors - ours have been moved somewhere else and I can’t find them so I always run into the front room to use the ‘fire scissors’ if I need any
a cake knife - every time I go to cut a bloody cake i think to myself that I need to buy one!

fruitsaladyummyummy · 23/08/2021 21:40

A colander. Our last one broke about 2 years ago and I always forget to replace it and we've been using a sieve. FINALLY bought a new one last week and it was without a doubt the best £6 I've ever spent.

TheChosenTwo · 23/08/2021 21:41

@piefacedClique I ordered a pack of 4 this morning as 2 of ours randomly started beeping with low battery in the middle of the night and then this morning the other 2 chimed in! Infuriating Grin I Amazon primed them for the same day delivery option!

stripedbananas · 23/08/2021 21:41

Bathroom door handle

Pucarbuile · 23/08/2021 21:41

Kitchen scales. I'm bamboozled by the choice.

fringeneedsatrim · 23/08/2021 21:42

My feather duster is so old bald and deformed that the spiders just laugh in my face when I attempt to clear their webs! 🕸🕷😆

To ask what cheap item you keep putting off buying?
Maverick66 · 23/08/2021 21:44

Towels. I really struggle to replace my towels and when I do buy new ones I might keep them 2 years before using them .it's obviously something from my childhood because my sister is obsessed with buying towels and always having 'good' towels.

VVKills27 · 23/08/2021 21:45

I’m so similar, the cheaper the item is the less inclined I am to muster the effort to replace/pay for it! I’m forever relying on crappy bit of old emery boards as I just never buy them.

Sometimes my mum will fling me one when she sees the sad state of what’s in my make up bag. I don’t know what’s wrong with me - there must be a name for people like this!

When it’s a cheap & boring purchase I just can’t be bothered - the bizarre thing is I’m a bit of a spendaholic about everything else!

PumpkinPie2016 · 23/08/2021 21:46

A vegetable peeler. Ours is ancient and quite blunt now. Can't really sharpen it due to its shape.

No idea why I don't just buy another Confused

@fringeneedsatrim I definitely wouldn't buy a new feather duster but then I don't have an old one. Really odd but I can't stand them Grin

Shirleyphallus · 23/08/2021 21:46

I had one clothes drying rack for about 10 years and would absolutely squeeze every item on, a bit bunched up and with the leftover stuff draped over doors and on random places like draped half over a dining table. The result being slightly damp and very creased clothes.

Then I saw the light and bought THREE MORE and fuck me it’s truly a life changer
