Let me explain. I need a new measuring jug. The measures have been washed off my glass ones and my plastic one is not easy to read. They're cheap yet I have been struggling for about 2 years and never really sure I've measured correctly meaning some failed bread and the odd annoyance most days. Why haven't o bought one? I fear it's symptomatic of other flaws
Tell me yours and make me feel less of a weirdo

A sieve 😂 mines been broken for years so I can't rest it on the pan

JetBlackSteed · 23/08/2021 22:27

Slightly askance, but I bought a new bread knife on a whim! And was so impressed how sharp it was and cut the bread so easily!
I had the old one for coming up to 30 years, lol.

@StarryStarrySocks

A new roller blind for the bedroom. It's broken so you can't roll it up with the cord. So every morning I stand up on a stool to roll it up by hand from the top. Hmm
The string snap on my sons roller blind but I left it in and tied small medals to the end so it can't slip through and come out.

My phone!

Cheermonger · 23/08/2021 22:28

A stapler. I’ve wfh for 17 months now and when I print stuff off I go through an elaborate origami-esqe faff to try and keep the papers together, in order. A stapler costs around £2. Why am I doing this?????

mewkins · 23/08/2021 22:28

Socks. I'm down to my last pair of trainer socks. I need new ones....but can't stand the disappointment of getting it wrong.

Jumpingintosummer · 23/08/2021 22:29

@Thecazelets

Some of my tea towels are 26 years old. I put clean ones out every day, but they all look absolutely awful, stained and full of holes, particularly as I have never been able to stop DH using them to wipe the worktops. And all our hand and bath towels are thin and scratchy, and all at least 20 years old. We could easily afford to scrap the lot and start again with fluffy new ones, but I can't quite bring myself to do it. It feels wicked and frivolous somehow.
DH and I stayed at a lovely hotel a few weeks ago… in a moment of drunkenness I declared we all needed new bath sheets. £110 later we are all in fluffy heaven but holy crap I would never have got them sober Blush.
Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 23/08/2021 22:29

Decent foot cream. I'm determined to finish every other bottle of cream in the house because for some reason a just can't decide which one to buy so I just don't buy one.

SailorGeri · 23/08/2021 22:29

A sieve. Mine is totally rusty. And it annoys me every time I use it.
I also hesitated to buy a new jug too for a long time. Then I bought two. A large wide one and a smaller one. Both Pyrex. I love them!!

LadyJaye · 23/08/2021 22:30

Not cheap as such, but a new hoover.

I'm in a hate/hate relationship with our Dyson, but out of spite, I'm going to keep using it until it dies.

The fucking thing is apparently immortal, though: I may have to throw it out of a window.

coodawoodashooda · 23/08/2021 22:30

A pastry brush. Im going to order one now!

TwooThirty · 23/08/2021 22:32

I told everyone about the land yard after it arrived, only took 10 years
And when you told everyone, did you call it a land yard or a lanyard?

AmazinglyGraceless · 23/08/2021 22:33

@Thecazelets tea towels were mine until recently too.

Our tea towels looked like rags they were so stained, burned and holey. We'd had them years, I think they were actually the first ones we bought when we got our first flat - 16 years ago!

Last month I was in Primark and picked up two packs of 4 for £7. They're bloody beautiful 😂 When I look at my lovely, clean, new, pretty tea towels now I wonder why the hell I didn't buy them ten years ago!

pinksquash13 · 23/08/2021 22:33

Love this thread. It really is a thing. Mine is an eye liner pencil sharpener. I've bought new pencils instead 🤣 Also paying a tenner to get my car cleaned. It's been years. So bad.

mantlepiece · 23/08/2021 22:33

A timer for my dippy eggs! Mine broke a year ago, have suffered surprise eggs since.
Have just ordered one three quid.

2andahalfpints · 23/08/2021 22:33

@TheChosenTwo if you use the fire scissors to cut a strip from the top of a bag you can use the strip as a tie to close it. Absolutely need scissors though

RickOShay · 23/08/2021 22:33

Lots of things Grin glad I’m not alone

LadyPoison · 23/08/2021 22:34

Slotted spoon.

Mine snapped ages ago and I keep forgetting to buy a new one until I need it..

Justgivemeamoment · 23/08/2021 22:35

Most recently dishwasher salt, was making a Tesco order yesterday, thought we must need some soon as the dishwasher goes through a lot, didn't buy. Like would it hurt to have a pack waiting !?

seven201 · 23/08/2021 22:35

It took me about 2 years to replace my Pyrex glass jug after I dropped it. Could find one I loved. Eventually bought a different shaped Pyrex one and still not that happy. I should probably buy the bigger one too but that would mean reorganising the cupboards to fit it in.

I haven't owned a hand whisk for about 5 years and I kept going to look at them but couldn't find one I liked that justified the cost. Then... I found my old one at the back of a cupboard! I was delighted I hadn't spent £7.

We recently replaced our towels and bath mats. I've had that towel since uni 15 years ago. My god it is amazing having new ones. My dd who is 5 even noticed the new bath mats and pretended to have a sleep on "the squishy fluffy cloud, best thing ever".

Mommybunny · 23/08/2021 22:35

@mafted Where did you buy your cutlery basket please?

SparklyLeprechaun · 23/08/2021 22:35

Clothes pegs. I've got about 10 left and I curse every time I hang the clothes on the line. They must cost all of 2 quid, but do I buy them? No

Ditto clothes hangers.

polkadotpjs · 23/08/2021 22:35

My people. I'm quite emotional that it isn't just me. Trouble is I spend (fritter) money on shite on Amazon like silicone items for various tasks which never work, yet can only measure exactly as a PP said - in relation to the only legible measurement on my jug 🤣. I also need a new tin opener. And a decent bloody frying pan if anyone can recommend one

Candle lighter it clicks and splutters, but still I persevere
They only cost few quid to replace. Inexplicably I have not done so

ContadoraExplorer · 23/08/2021 22:37

New peg bag. We have a plastic one that is falling apart and I keep looking at proper bags like my gran used to have but, despite the fact they're around £10 I never finish the purchase.
