Do they mean US size 6? The lady is in Wales.
I’m only 2 inches shorter and weigh 9st 6lb and wear size 10-12.
Well done to her for losing the weight though. Just confused by her clothing size.

I am 9 st 12 at 5ft6 and now mostly have to wear size 12, although still fit in some size 10s.

poullou · 23/08/2021 09:16

Why does it matter? If she says she's a 6, why not believe her.

Aimee1987 · 23/08/2021 09:18

Muscle is more dense then fat so if she is incredibly toned she will be a smaller clothes size.

Bunnycat101 · 23/08/2021 09:19

Her waist looks quite small so a 6 might be feasible for a skirt or trousers depending on her frame but I’d say her chest looks far bigger than a 6 so I’d be surprised if she was able to fit into tops or dresses that size. She’s done amazingly well though either way.

Sometimes the way people carry weight can affect sizing quite oddly.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 23/08/2021 09:19

Great weight loss.

But no, that does not equate to being a size 6- if she’s a 10/12 that’s still a great achievement and a perfectly good dress size so I didn’t know why you’d fib and say you were smaller.

Mercurial123 · 23/08/2021 09:20

Who cares? She lost the weight is a healthy size and looks fab.

waterlego · 23/08/2021 09:20

I’m 9st 9lbs and 5ft 3. I wear a 10-12.

I’d be surprised if she is in size 4-6 at that height and weight.

waterlego · 23/08/2021 09:20

But yes, good for her on her weight loss!

Nonicknamesforcatapillars · 23/08/2021 09:21

I’m 5ft3.5, 9st11 and a size 10-12. Unless she has heavy bones or is 100% muscle it must be American sizes. Surely?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 23/08/2021 09:21

I was a size 4/6 at that height when I was anorexic and well under seven stone so I don’t know why you’d want to laud that size as some sort of achievement if weren’t actually that small naturally.

ActonSquirrel · 23/08/2021 09:22

Sizes are bigger now though. A size 6 now is at least a size 10 in old money.

Ihaveoflate · 23/08/2021 09:25

I'm 5ft 3 and 8 1/2 stone and wear a size 8. I couldn't even squeeze into a 6 these days.

My wedding dress was a vintage size 10, which is more like a size 6 these days, but I can't even zip it up now.

ErickBroch · 23/08/2021 09:28

Depends on where you shop. If I shop in my usual places like ASOS, UO, Zara I am a 14/L. If I shop in Tesco I am an 8-10 Grin

pastabest · 23/08/2021 09:28

I'm the same height but two stone heavier, I'm currently a size 12-14.

If I lost that two stone I would be an 8-10 in tops and a 10/12 in trousers (naturally big bum)

But I bet I could get into a stretchy size 6 tops and dresses from the right shop if needed (and did have a couple of size 6 dresses when I was that weight previously)

Cyw2018 · 23/08/2021 09:28

In my 20s at my thinnest and fittest (running up and down mountains, climbing several times a week etc). I was 10st and size 8-10 at 5ft8.

But it doesn't really matter what she say she is. She is what she is and that will not change. Just leave her to it.

WellJuhnelle · 23/08/2021 09:33

I think it probably depends on your body type. I am 5’1 and have never got under 9st. At this weight I am a comfortable size 6. I don’t think anybody would guess how much I actually weigh!

TheKeatingFive · 23/08/2021 09:36

There are some enormous size sixes out there at the minute. I’m a 10 normally, but I was in Next the other day and anything bigger than a six swamped me.

BalloonSlayer · 23/08/2021 09:36

I am the same height as her and 8 stone 4. I am an 8 or 10 depending on the shop. I saw some size 4 trousers in primark the other week and couldn't imagine who they would fit. An 11 year old maybe?

Maybe she has some items that are cut large and is joyous over that - good for her!

Emmelina · 23/08/2021 09:38

I’m 5’ and 8.4, definitely not getting into anything below a 10 (which is a US6!) here!

FiveShelties · 23/08/2021 09:43

I am 5ft 4ins and four pounds heavier at 10 - 2 and I am a 12. I usually range between 9-10 and 10-4, depending on holiday/greed etc and I have never been anywhere near a size 4 or 6.

SpaceBethSmith · 23/08/2021 09:46

My personal trainer friend is 5”2 and 11st, wears a size 6. She is TINY.

LongLive89 · 23/08/2021 09:57

I call BS…

177cm here and 57kg/9 stone bang on. I’m a 6 in every shop.

When I was a stone heavier, obviously I am tall, I was a 8.

Eclairesarethebest · 23/08/2021 10:12

I'm 5 foot 1 and weigh 6 stone and I'm a size 8. I think someone's telling porkies. Grin

thecatneuterer · 23/08/2021 10:18

I'm half an inch taller, weigh 8st and am a size 6, even an 8 occasionally. So that sounds like nonsense. She does look very slim in the photo, but it is an odd angle so who knows. I don't understand how she weighs that much. If they'd just put the photo and said she's a size 6 then I would certainly believe it. It's the weight that makes no sense.

Regardless, she's done briliantly.

thecatneuterer · 23/08/2021 10:19

@SpaceBethSmith

My personal trainer friend is 5”2 and 11st, wears a size 6. She is TINY.
Now that really is unbelievable.
