Do they mean US size 6? The lady is in Wales.
I’m only 2 inches shorter and weigh 9st 6lb and wear size 10-12.
Well done to her for losing the weight though. Just confused by her clothing size.

the lie and the photoshopping matter

virtually every photo in the media is photoshopped in some form though?

Heronatemygoldfish · 23/08/2021 11:49

I love these threads. Women are so variable in their shape! I wish that articles would quote measurements in cm or inches though. Then we'd be able to see what was really true.

If this lady's lost 12 stone, how the heck has she not got tons of loose skin? I only lost 6 stone a few years back, looked gaunt at 9st6 and was just about a size 10 and I'm 5'7"... and I had lots of flabby skin, especially on the waist after DC and my age... and that is with weekly PT sessions, running, spin classes, core, dumb-bells...!

It's all in the waist... these are some measurements I have from various weightloss attempts.
age 30 pre-dc, no gym 10st1 34-28-37.5
age 50 post-dc lots of gym 9st6 34-30-36

So no clue how she did it.

Possibly a typo, possibly a fib, possibly US sizes. Her waist looks tiny in first photo but just on her boobs alone I don't think she's a size 6. However she looks incredible, and has achieved something very few people can do. Good on her I say, it doesn't really matter what size she is now

I totally agree. Amazing achievement.

It’s not her actual real life size that matters at all. My issue is just with the size 4-6 claim in the article. I’m going to assume US sizing as that makes the most sense.

@OrganicAvocado

Wtf? Why? and if she's actually a 12 will that make you feel better?

Well yes it would, because I think being smaller and weighing less than a person, I shouldn’t be 3 sizes bigger than them in standard clothes.

It's not your weight that dictates your clothes size though it's your measurements. If you both had exactly the same measurements I could see your point.

yes and where it is about body shape and weight loss, they all matter.

Exactly! and muscle has a big impact on that

People have different shapes. In the nicest way get over it or shop in clothes stores with vanity sizing.
Example wrap dressers a 12 can wear an 8 easily, the lady in question has a great shape with a small waist, most likely physically toned too due to her job, exercise changes your body shape too.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 23/08/2021 11:52

@OrganicAvocado

Look at the photos of her post weight loss. Do you actually have the same proportions as her? Her limbs are very muscular and there is no excess fat, even on her face. Her BMI might be 23, but she looks like she carries more muscle than regular women. She says she spends a lot of time at the gym.

From where I'm looking, anyone who is 5 4" and look like her photos is clearly a size 6. Her physique is very similar to my very sporty teen DD, who is a size 6. Tiny waist, lots of muscle, no excess fat. This woman looks like she's never had kids, let alone three.

Do you actually look like her? But just 2" taller? Run upstairs and look in the mirror and report back please. This would help me to compare you both and denounce her as a liar.

countrytown · 23/08/2021 11:52

we have no idea if this lady photoshopped off weight though. I just think it's odd to assume she definitely has because of the OPs insecurities.

bugger yes! where has the loose skin gone?
Garriet · 23/08/2021 11:53

When I was 18/19 I weighed 11st at 5’4” and I wore a size 10/12 and that was over 25 years ago. I’m one of those people who look lighter than I am.

Happyfeet1972 · 23/08/2021 11:53

But having lost 12 stone she isn't going to look the same as most other women anyway. Her body will have been through all kinds and her fat will be stored differently. I agree with the poster who said she probably fitted into one size 6 outfit and they ran with that for the headline.

At your weight and size Op I wouldn't be concerned, you sound like you have a lovely figure.

well someone did the photoshopping! zoom in around the waist area on the two full length pictures....
5128gap · 23/08/2021 11:57

The woman in the article also carries weight extremely well. In her before pictures she looks smaller than I would expect for her weight.

countrytown · 23/08/2021 11:57

bugger yes! where has the loose skin gone?

maybe she had a tummy tuck it was lucky to not get it.

Crabwoman · 23/08/2021 11:57

I'm a usually size 8-10 at that weight (I'm just shy of 5.5)

However, I'm a 12 in topshop, or a size 6 if I am shopping in M&S or Next, which a put purely down to vanity sizing. So it's entirely possible she buys clothes in those sizes.

Are you the lady in the article?? I haven’t once suggested she has lied or that she has photoshopped her photo. I’m just querying the 4-6 sizing because I have been a size 6 and I was 5’2” and weighed 7 stone, and have a very small frame. It’s not insecurity. I’m happy at my current weight but I just don’t see how I could fit into anything sized 4-6 despite being shorter and weighing less.
The article needs clarification really.

OP posts:
Hotpinkparade · 23/08/2021 11:59

Yeah, sounds unlikely to me. I'm size 6-8 at 5ft6 and 9 stone 7, so I'd be surprised if someone shorter and heavier was the same size.

Catchthepigeons · 23/08/2021 12:00

It says she's a personal trainer so she will be toned and muscular. I saw a post on reddit of a woman at 150lbs and 6 months later she was 152lbs except in the second photo she was completely ripped and looked like a totally different person. Body composition is so important.

countrytown · 23/08/2021 12:01

if that's makes you happy then go with that.

I just don't understand the concept of waking up & being happy with your body & size but then reading about this women & all of a sudden thinking "oh no I'm not happy". Then upon finding out she's lying "I'm happy again". Life must be a challenge with that kind of thinking 😆

countrytown · 23/08/2021 12:02

Are you the lady in the article??

Yes, yes I am. If you transfer my £10
I will share my secrets with you.

You do sound incredibly insecure though. I read the article & just thought wow well done her. Didn't make me think anything negative about my body.

HidingFromDD · 23/08/2021 12:03

10 years ago I was 5’3” and 91/2-10st. I was size 8 in most places (eg gap jeans etc) size 10 in some but 6 in m&s, next and principles. Dd2 is currently wearing a pair of my old gap jeans and she doesn’t have a spare inch of fat on here. I was v fit though and did hot yoga 3 times a week. I’m now 12st 5(ish 😩) not as fit and a comfortable size 14 most places.

OrganicAvocado · 23/08/2021 12:03

countrytown

I think maybe you are confusing different people’s posts.

OP posts:
countrytown · 23/08/2021 12:06

No I'm not, other posters have said she's lying or photoshopping. You said it must be US sizing. I think you do sound insecure.

For my wedding I got very fit & did quite a a lot of weights. I had a very different shape when I was a similar weight but not doing exercise.

MrsMaizel · 23/08/2021 12:06

She carried the kind of fat that makes a great difference when you shed it - all around her middle .
