Do they mean US size 6? The lady is in Wales.
I’m only 2 inches shorter and weigh 9st 6lb and wear size 10-12.
Well done to her for losing the weight though. Just confused by her clothing size.

At 8 and a half stone, (many years ago) and 5 foot 6, I was a size 10.

countrytown · 23/08/2021 11:29

she looks very toned & muscular though but what difference does it make what size she is?

AngryWhompingWillow · 23/08/2021 11:30
@WeAreTheHeroes well @Calmdown14 sums it up pretty well.

And why not just be honest? It’s still a huge achievement, why does it have to seem ‘better’ by stating smaller (and for most not achievable) sizes?
Exactly this. No matter what anyone like @WeAreTheHeroes says, people are entitled to disbelieve this woman claiming she is a size 4 to 6.

Just as they are entitled to BELIEVE her, people are entitled to DISbelieve her. And I (like many others,) DISbelieve her. As for the people saying people are so meeeeeean, and should 'leave the poor woman alone;' she has put herself in the public eye, and she is basking in the publicity and attention, so she must accept negative comments as well as positive ones.

What difference does it make to anyone if people believe her or not? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, without being scolded by the finger-waggers on here.

honeybuns007 · 23/08/2021 11:30

There are some trendy box-style tops that are meant to be very big and baggy so I guess I could fit into the very smallest size of those but I wouldn’t then claim I was a size 4.
You say this is not about her but about you yet this statement makes it clear that you are judging her and have decided that she is lying. People weigh differently. Some are heavy. Some are light.

countrytown · 23/08/2021 11:31

Height, muscles & body shape all make a big difference. I'm tall 5ft 10 & quite lean naturally but I have a bust. I wear 11st & wear a 10-12. Most people look at me & think I'm much smaller & weigh less.

countrytown · 23/08/2021 11:34

It’s not about her. It’s about me! I’m 5’2” and weigh less than her yet am size 10-12 in most shops. I can squeeze into a supermarket size 8. The last time I was a comfortable size 8 I weighed 8st and when I was 7 stone and practically skeletal I fit into a size 6

But why are you comparing yourself? I presume you don't want to be a size 6 because you were skeletal as you say so what difference does it make?

LittleMysSister · 23/08/2021 11:34

People hold weight differently and wear different sizes because of that.

Sometimes I see pics of people in articles etc who wear bigger sizes than me but are over a stone lighter.

Think it really can vary so much.

Blossomtoes · 23/08/2021 11:35

She’s very busty so probably not a six on top. A modern six used to be a 10 back in the 80s when I was 8st 5lb and wore a 10. Vanity sizing has reached ridiculous proportions now and sizes are meaningless. I have tens, 12s, 14s and 16s in my wardrobe and they all fit. 🤷‍♀️

NatashaRf · 23/08/2021 11:37

Maybe not.

I'm 5'4" the wrong side of 10 and a half stone at the moment and a size 10 in most trousers (sometimes my hips mean I need a 12 but then the waist is too big) and a 8-10 in most tops as long as they have boob allowance (32F)

If I lost a stone I'm sure I might be able to get in some 6s.

countrytown · 23/08/2021 11:38

For those who obsess over their weight or have potential for eating disorders, making them feel that a size 10 must make them huge is unhelpful and dangerous

People seem to obsess about size in general. A size 10 at 5ft looks very different to size 10 at 6 ft.

Siameasy · 23/08/2021 11:38

5’4”
9st 6
I select 8 or 10 in shops. It depends on the shop and the shape of your body. Some shops come up big. She probably found one shop in which she fitted into a size 4-6 and for the sake of the article it sounds more dramatic

LalalalalalaLand123 · 23/08/2021 11:39

I'm 5'4", and 8 stone 13. I wear size 10/12. (I used to be a size 6 but there's NO way I could fit into those clothes again, try as I do from time to time!)
In the photos she does look to me about a size UK 8.

countrytown · 23/08/2021 11:39

I think it depends where you shop but generally a size 6 these days equates to a 24 inch waist, which I have, and am by no means tiny.

And equally when i had a 24" waist I was tiny.

loopylindi · 23/08/2021 11:40

wot is this all about? Why is it even an issue. Who's business is it anyway?

Er, because I feel ridiculously large compared to this lady and don’t understand how I could possibly fit into size 4-6 clothes other than large, boxy styles, but I wouldn’t then think or say I was a size 4-6, so I wondered if the article was using US sizes. It’s not a criticism of the lady in the article. I’ve been interviewed by a tabloid in the past and had little control over the final (incorrect) content.

Wtf? Why? and if she's actually a 12 will that make you feel better?

EmeraldShamrock · 23/08/2021 11:42

Wow she looks like a different person, great job. 👏
Yes it is possible depending on the store I'm 2 stone lighter same height I wouldn't fit in a h&m or primark 6 they're tiny though next or doherty perkins would be hanging off.

OrganicAvocado · 23/08/2021 11:44

Wtf? Why? and if she's actually a 12 will that make you feel better?

Well yes it would, because I think being smaller and weighing less than a person, I shouldn’t be 3 sizes bigger than them in standard clothes.

godmum56 · 23/08/2021 11:44

if you zoom in on the full body pictures, they have been photoshopped. The last one even looks as though it may be someone else's body with her head on it hence the head blurring while the rest is in sharp focus. Its sad actually because she has done brilliantly....no need to lie about it.

Happyfeet1972 · 23/08/2021 11:46

Possibly a typo, possibly a fib, possibly US sizes. Her waist looks tiny in first photo but just on her boobs alone I don't think she's a size 6. However she looks incredible, and has achieved something very few people can do. Good on her I say, it doesn't really matter what size she is now

countrytown · 23/08/2021 11:46

It's one person that I presume you don't know. I think you need to get a grip.

the lie and the photoshopping matter

That's my point, it depends on the person and their shape. No one would think I'm tiny as I have 38 inch hips and similar bust size, so the overall effect is quite substantial. But when I buy flared style skirts or high waist jeans I buy a 6 for the waist.
prsphne · 23/08/2021 11:48

I’m 5’4” and 8 stone 4 lb. I’d say I’m a size 8. When I was 8 stone (in my 20s) I was a size 6-8. I could’ve squeezed into a 4 at that weight, but not consistently and comfortably enough that I was a size 4. Similar now with a 6.

It does depend where I shop though, sometimes a size 8 at Next for example drowns me and I would be a 4-6 there.

But I’m also over a stone lighter than that lady (not toned though, so if she is muscly I’d expect her to weigh more at the same size) and the after picture is at a favourable angle for her waist, so I’d be inclined to guess while she might fit a size 4-6 occasionally, that’s not her size all of the time.

All of that caveated with, it really doesn’t matter what size or weight you are - but articles like that do feed into a “you should be a smaller size than you are” mentality.

Happyfeet1972 · 23/08/2021 11:48

Have to say its a weird person to chose to compare yourself to and worry about being larger. This woman was 22 stone and has pulled off a remarkable accomplishment. Maybe let her bask in that without questioning her dress size.
