Do they mean US size 6? The lady is in Wales.
I’m only 2 inches shorter and weigh 9st 6lb and wear size 10-12.
Well done to her for losing the weight though. Just confused by her clothing size.

She looks amazing and good for her.

She now has a very small waist and that dress is quite stretchy so it's possible that it's a size 6.

A few years ago I was lighter than now and at 10 stone I was a size 8/10 in trousers although a 12/14 on top. It's definitely possible that she could be a 6/8 on her bottom half.

Does it really matter though? Surely the important thing is that she has recognised the health implications of being obese and addressed them.

Wagglerock · 23/08/2021 11:06

I'd like to see a picture where she's not breathing in.

I'm exactly the same weight and height and a 10/12.

BunsyGirl · 23/08/2021 11:06

I’m 11.5 stone and wear a 10-12. No one believes how heavy I am!

Polkadots2021 · 23/08/2021 11:08

@poullou

Why does it matter? If she says she's a 6, why not believe her.
Just a rational question I think.

OP I think it must be a US size 6, as I weight around 8 stone, which makes me almost 2 stone less than the woman you're asking about and I'd say I'm an average UK size 6 depending on the brand (4-8 these days, depending on where I shop).

AngryWhompingWillow · 23/08/2021 11:10

Yeah she's lying. She is a size 10-12. Why on earth would ANYone aspire to be a size 4? Hmm

AngryWhompingWillow · 23/08/2021 11:11

You could just as easily say, 'if she says she's a size 6, why not DISbelieve her?' Wink

Ariela · 23/08/2021 11:11

Every body is different, due to my frame even at a gaunt 8st 8 when I swam lots I could never wear any thing so small as a size 10, and that was when size 10 was more like the equivalent of a 6 or 8 now.

5128gap · 23/08/2021 11:11

Yes its entirely possible, dependent on clothes styles, because of where she carries her weight. Her waist is tiny and with a lot of clothes you select your size by what fits your waist.

Disfordarkchocolate · 23/08/2021 11:12

That looks like she is sucking her waist in. I'd say a size 10, 12 in some shops depending on what she is buying. She's done fab, well done her.

Calmdown14 · 23/08/2021 11:14

I think she looks great and good on her but I do think it's irresponsible to quote ludicrous sizes
She may well be an 8. She looks slender.
If her frame were small enough for a size four she'd be carrying more fat, which she clearly isn't.
For those who obsess over their weight or have potential for eating disorders, making them feel that a size 10 must make them huge is unhelpful and dangerous

WeAreTheHeroes · 23/08/2021 11:16

Why do some people feel the need to 1. disbelieve this kind of thing and 2. state the woman must be lying or talking about US sizes?

She looks amazing and has done really well to lose so much weight and be healthy.

That's the key, being healthy.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 23/08/2021 11:18

@WeAreTheHeroes well @Calmdown14 sums it up pretty well.

And why not just be honest? It’s still a huge achievement, why does it have to seem ‘better’ by stating smaller (and for most not achievable) sizes?

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 23/08/2021 11:18

Look at the ‘after’ pictures further down the article she looks completely different to that first one.

Viviennemary · 23/08/2021 11:19

Size s6 is incredibly tiny in UKsizes. So no I dont think she is a size six at over 9 stone and fairly average height.

Footballfrenzy2021 · 23/08/2021 11:20

I’m 5’5”
Weighed myself this morning I’m 48.9kgs & I’m a Uk size 6

bizboz · 23/08/2021 11:20

I am 5'7 and 9 stone and a size 10! Body shape is a strange thing though. I am straight up and down with no waist which is why I can't get into smaller than a 10 in most things, even though they are too big on the chest/hips/thighs. She has a very small waist.

Or maybe she only shops in Next - I can get into a size 6 there! She's probably an Extra Large in Zara though.....

TheMarzipanDildo · 23/08/2021 11:21

She wants to train to be a personal trainer so I’m guessing she’s very muscly.

PetuniaButterworth · 23/08/2021 11:21

A lot depends on muscle tone. I didn't think it was possible but before my wedding I went a bit bonkers at the gym I weighed 10st but was a size six in dresses and trousers. I am the same weight now but after happily avoiding the gym these past two years and having DD 8 months ago I'm a size 12

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 23/08/2021 11:21

4-6 US is 8-10 UK, so yeah, it makes more sense (a LOT more sense) that they've used US sizings.
I just don't see how she could weigh that weight, be that height AND be that skinny.

I'm 5'5 and at my lightest (8st - too light, really, I looked somewhat skeletal!) I was still a size 10.

bunnybuggs · 23/08/2021 11:23

I agree - she cannot possibly ever be a size 4 - unless the sizes have changed since I was young. I am 5'1" over 70 and weigh in at 8 stone 7 and my go to size (except for some ludicrous clothing lines who say a size 12/14 is XL) is a size 10/12.

A sidways photo while breathing in would make my waist look tiny too.
I applaud anyone who tackles their weight problem and lives a healthier lifestyle but as others have said it is creating a false picture.

Sceptre86 · 23/08/2021 11:23

I was a 6-8 same height and 7.5 stone. At 9 stone I would be more like a size 10-12

billy1966 · 23/08/2021 11:24

American sizing perhaps?

tattymacduff · 23/08/2021 11:24

It's a bit mean to start a thread on this, leave the woman alone!

I am 5'3" and 9 stone 10. I buy clothes from size 8 to 12 depending on the shop and the cut of the clothing, so it is not impossible that she may fit into a size 6.

BeauxRingarde · 23/08/2021 11:25

@poullou

Why does it matter? If she says she's a 6, why not believe her.
Because it's not true?
5128gap · 23/08/2021 11:27

I think it depends where you shop but generally a size 6 these days equates to a 24 inch waist, which I have, and am by no means tiny. Years ago it meant I was a 10 to 12 but these days those sizes bury me.
