I’ve just re-watched A Star is Born and sobbed like there’s no tomorrow. Made me think about other films that have hit me hard.
Green Mile is another real sob fest.

Any others? I’d like to build a ‘I need a good cry’ collection Grin

Title should say which film obviously… my eyes are still puffy.

The Kite Runner

Me before You
Pretty much any animal one where the animal dies

Florabella · 21/08/2021 18:26

About Time. I know it's not a great film, but the scene where he goes back for one last walk on the beach with his dad has me in proper floods every time. I just wish I could do that with my Dad

UsernameNotAvailableApparently · 21/08/2021 18:26

@Trudij123 oh goodness, Marley & Me Sad

InpatientGardener · 21/08/2021 18:29

War horse, the notebook, the shawshank redemption, the green mile, black beauty to name a few!

IndigoHexagon · 21/08/2021 18:30

@Florabella I came on to say About Time. I’d gone to the cinema with a friend to ‘escape’ for a couple of hours. Chose to watch this as it seemed that a rom-com was just what I needed.

It really wasn’t - my mum had just been told she had very aggressively terminal cancer so I literally sobbed like my heart out at the bit you describe.
I was sat at the back so leaving would have drawn more attention to myself so I tried to hold myself together but it was hard. At the end, as everyone was leaving, a lady in front of me turned around, reached over the seat and drew me into the biggest bear hug. She didn’t say a word, just held me as I cried. I still think about her.

Schindler's List. Especially the final scene.
Titanic
The Blind Side
United 93
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (another Holocaust one)
The Pianist

Usernamqwerty · 21/08/2021 18:31

Yes, I forgot Shawshank! Love that film for many reasons ☺️

BrodieKD · 21/08/2021 18:33

Marley and me

Usernamqwerty · 21/08/2021 18:33

Good Will Hunting

(Ok, I'll stop now)

NessieMcNessface · 21/08/2021 18:33

ET. I know it’s a bit old fashioned but it gets me every time.

Funnylittlefloozie · 21/08/2021 18:34

Absolutely The Green Mile.

Also;
Schindler's List
Nell
Toy Story 3
Lava (the Pixar short)
Up
Casablanca
The Dam Busters (the last ten minutes, when they learn how many crews didn't return and Guy Gibson says he has some letters to write....and the music swells up)

Oh god there's loads... I cry at everything these days!

aConcernedPrude · 21/08/2021 18:34

Hachi - A Dog's Tale

Sad
TonkinLenkicks · 21/08/2021 18:35

About time. I can’t help it.

The notebook is another one. DH promised me it’d make me cry and I spent the whole film convinced it was shite and over emotional bull crap. Then at the end I couldn’t stop the tears. I think I’ve got deep issues Grin

milliepop · 21/08/2021 18:36

The Notebook

BingoBhango · 21/08/2021 18:37

Earthlings Sad It's a documentary and the only thing I have cried through non-stop from beginning to end.

Thedogscollar · 21/08/2021 18:37

Green Mile
Shawshank Redemption my two most favourite films of all time.
Schindler's List.
Sophie's Choice.
Les Miserables.
Roots.

SilverTimpani · 21/08/2021 18:37

A Little Princess. The scene where Sarah’s screaming ‘PAPA!’ and he’s so confused and upset but he doesn’t recognise her. It absolutely wrecks me 😭

Fruityfriday · 21/08/2021 18:37

Steel Magnolias

Yellow85 · 21/08/2021 18:38

Lion. Oh god I can’t even think about it without getting upset. I swear that movie has changed something in me.
