I’ve just re-watched A Star is Born and sobbed like there’s no tomorrow. Made me think about other films that have hit me hard.
Green Mile is another real sob fest.

Any others? I’d like to build a ‘I need a good cry’ collection Grin

Railway Children - from when they wave to the train and all the passengers wave back, and then “Daddy, my Daddy” - welling up just thinking about it.

ExplodingCarrots · 21/08/2021 19:08

The lovely bones
Arrival
With them 2 films it's the music that makes it emotional .

Sometimes I'll cry at Titanic, depends if it catches me in a particularly emotional mood.

Green Mile
A walk to remember

Forgottennovel · 21/08/2021 19:08

The Good Dinosaur... And The Land Before Time! It must be something about Dinosaur films for me...

katienana · 21/08/2021 19:10

Yes to About Time and a Star Is Born, was actually glad I missed at the cinema ad I cried so much.
The King and I, when she visits him on his deathbed...
Obviously Up.
I know there was something I watched recently and cried like a baby but I can't think of what it was!

Toy Story 2 - the ‘When She Loved Me’ bit Sad

BoredZelda · 21/08/2021 19:11

@Daydrambeliever, I remember watching Who Will Love My Children, when I was a child, on my mum’s recommendation. I cried a lot at that one. Champ too!

@Wowcherarestalkingme, Stepmom would be my top choice. That scene in the bar with Roberts and Sarandon does it every time. Excellent acting.

@Icecreamsoda99, Inside Out had me in bits. I hadn’t expected it to be so damned sad. My daughter was about 6 when we went to the cinema to see it. She cried when we came out of it but wasn’t quite sure why she was crying.

But I honestly can't imagine actually sobbing or bawling.

Yes, yes, well done to you for being so stoically unmoved at films, you must be so proud of yourself.

katienana · 21/08/2021 19:11

My Girl is another first time I cried at a film, must have only been about 7!

BeefSupreme · 21/08/2021 19:11

I just remembered “Oliver and Company.” I cried at the opening scene every time I watched it. The start where the kitten is left alone in the rain broke my heart.

PeasPeasPeasAreGoodForYou · 21/08/2021 19:12

My sisters keeper 😭😭😭😭

lollipoprainbow · 21/08/2021 19:12

Beaches
Stepmom

MissMatty2hats · 21/08/2021 19:13

The bit in Imitation of Life when she pretends not to know her mother, and then the funeral when it’s too late! Oh my god, it destroys me! Les Miserables also, so many tears. A Dogs Purpose is the one I’m not allowed to watch. If the kids come into the room and this is on they take the remote away from me before I weep myself inside out!

MrsKrystalStubbs · 21/08/2021 19:14

The Pianist

Tereseta · 21/08/2021 19:15

PS I love you, gets me everything!

Mozartinmyfanjo · 21/08/2021 19:18

A lot already mentioned here…(Hatchi Sad!)
Philomena - I watched it on a plane during my first trip away from DS (only just 1), l literally sobbed right through. And then l watched it again, few years later, just to check it was really that sad, yup 😭😭
Stand by me gets me every time at the end.

HangingChads · 21/08/2021 19:18

@Florabella

About Time. I know it's not a great film, but the scene where he goes back for one last walk on the beach with his dad has me in proper floods every time. I just wish I could do that with my Dad
This is what I came here to say. Always watch this film if I'm feeling a bit down, it has such an important message!
Philandbill · 21/08/2021 19:19

@ExplodingCarrots I'm glad you've put Arrival, it makes me so every time I watch it.
Other sobfests are Truly, Madly, Deeply and City of Angels.

WorraLiberty · 21/08/2021 19:22

@WorraLiberty I cry like I can't stop crying, proper tracks of tears and mascara smudges. Sometimes embarrassingly audible sobs. I went to see Room in the cinema and did embarrassing sobbing (it's got worse since having kids). The good thing is as soon as I stop watching I return to normal behaviour almost instantly!

@elbo7 ahh ok thanks.

Not my idea of fun I must admit but glad you return to normal after Grin

HelloMissus · 21/08/2021 19:27

Arrival as others mentioned is one of the most multi layered films of all time. Beautiful.

LoopyGremlin · 21/08/2021 19:27

ET. Even the music makes me cry! It came out when I was around 4 and I remember being in the cinema howling my eyes out at the end when ET leaves. Even thinking about it puts tears in my eyes. I am officially a weirdo 😂

RampantIvy · 21/08/2021 19:28

Empire of the Sun
How Green was my Valley

Effitall · 21/08/2021 19:29

Clouds made me cry so much I had a headache.

elbo7 · 21/08/2021 19:30

I am weird I think GrinI find a good cry at a film like a big release, watching a hilariously funny film has the same effect. I did some personality questionnaire thing once and I came out as very quite emotionally attached (I can see why Grin)

Brokeback Mountain. Makes me cry everytime

Blippibloppi · 21/08/2021 19:36

Kramer Vs Kramer
Moulin Rouge
I, Daniel Blake - actually had to leave the cinema at the food bank scene because I was in full blown hysterical crying mode.
