I’ve just re-watched A Star is Born and sobbed like there’s no tomorrow. Made me think about other films that have hit me hard.
Green Mile is another real sob fest.

Any others? I’d like to build a ‘I need a good cry’ collection Grin

The Fault In Our Stars
ET
The Colour Purple
Black Beauty
Beaches

DoTheNextRightThing · 21/08/2021 19:36

I haven't seen a lot of the films listed here (I'm not a film buff at all) but Titanic is my biggest sob fest. I've been known to start crying as soon as Rose appears on screen 😂

Others:

Charlie St Cloud (literally watched it once because it was so sad I've never wanted to see it again haha)
Hardball
Toy Story 3 and 4
Coco

I'm sure there are more. I'm a crier 😂

FawkesThePhoenix · 21/08/2021 19:41

Pear harbour (mainly the song coupled up with the music video)
Titanic...every time!
Marley and me
My sisters keeper
The green mile
Beaches

I wouldnt say I sob but theres a few tears and what feels like a huge ball in my throat!

Boys Don't Cry

MrsAlexanderHamilton · 21/08/2021 19:43

Gallipoli - watched it years ago with DH, he had seen it previously. We hadn’t been married long and have now been married 26 years. It’s a long-running joke between us that I’ve never really forgiven him for not warning me what was going to happen at the end (he thought it was obvious). Utterly bawled my eyes out.

The Prince of Tides - not really sure why this one got to me so much, but I remember sobbing coming out of the cinema with my sister!

FawkesThePhoenix · 21/08/2021 19:43

Also
The pursuit of happiness
Seven pounds

Tianatiers · 21/08/2021 19:43

A lot have already been mentioned but ones that I don’t think have…

The curious case of Benjamin button
Mamma Mia 2
Remembering really ugly crying so much when I saw those two at the cinema it was very embarrassing!

Puddycatfan · 21/08/2021 19:44

I cry at several point during Kenneth Branagh's Henry V.
I'm not much of a crier, but it gets me every single time.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 21/08/2021 19:44

@Daydrambeliever ..Who will love my children is a blast from my past !

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 21/08/2021 19:44

@Peasweet

Yes, West Side Story and Truly, Madly, Deeply...
Snap. I remember watching TMD for the first time about 6 months after my DH died and cried solidly throughout the whole film.

WSS is my favourite film ever.
I always sob through stage versions of Les Miserables.

cardibach · 21/08/2021 19:45

Truly, Mad,y, Deeply. And I’m not a crier.

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 21/08/2021 19:47

Another one is 'The song of Bernadette'. I watched it for the first time aged about 9 with the family and my dad was the first to start blubbing!

Silent Running.

ShinyMe · 21/08/2021 19:55

I remember being taken to see Bambi as a small child. My friend Penny was sobbing. My friend Jessica was sobbing. My mum was dabbing her eyes and sniffing. I was all "is she dead? Is his mum dead? Why's Penny crying? What's wrong?" Heartless, me, apparently.

Trudij123 · 21/08/2021 19:55
@Trudij123 oh goodness, Marley & Me Sad
I’ve not see it - until the other day when I caught the last ten minutes or so on TV.
Yup…..

Fruityb · 21/08/2021 19:56

Bicentennial Man. Ruined at the end and it’s not even sad!

Paddington 2….

Moana

JomeeSot · 21/08/2021 19:56

Forgot about Boys Don't Cry as pp mentioned. Couldn't watch it again.

Also with Hilary Swank, Million Dollar Baby

My husband is as bad as me but we both cry at happy things too.

Ljc1985 · 21/08/2021 19:57

@WhyMeLord

Lion - I started the second he got stuck on the train and ugly sobbed all the way to the end.
Snap! I think it took me 40/50 minutes after it ended to stop crying
SunSeaSurfGin · 21/08/2021 19:58

The notebook, my sister's keeper

Tbh anything remotely emotional

Roussette · 21/08/2021 20:00

Some mentioned on here.... but I don't think this has been mentioned.

Ghost.

(OK OK it's pathetic, I can't help it!)

Lellochip · 21/08/2021 20:01

The Impossible and Pride are my go-tos when I want a good cry, but haven't ugly sobbed at anything like I did Third Star. Wasn't an enjoyable experience and have refused to watch it ever again 😅

GordonsAlive85 · 21/08/2021 20:01
