I’ve just re-watched A Star is Born and sobbed like there’s no tomorrow. Made me think about other films that have hit me hard.
Green Mile is another real sob fest.

Any others? I’d like to build a ‘I need a good cry’ collection Grin

Marley and Me, obv

Yesitsbess · 21/08/2021 23:33

Jack and Sarah and Truly Madly Deeply.

y0rkier0se · 21/08/2021 23:36

I'm probably a bad person to recommend because I cry at everything, but the ones that I always watch when I feel weepy are...
P.S I Love You
Marriage Story
The wind that shakes the barley

HoobleDooble · 21/08/2021 23:58

Love Story
Ghost

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 21/08/2021 23:58

Forest gump!

Darbs76 · 22/08/2021 00:00

It’s an old one but ‘who will love my children’

Lion - cried so much in the cinema
Slum dog millionaire - I cried for weeks

lobster12 · 22/08/2021 00:03

@aConcernedPrude

Hachi - A Dog's Tale

Sad

I came on to say this one. I was a mess and wouldn't be able to watch it again.

Also the boy in the stripped pyjamas.

lobster12 · 22/08/2021 00:08

Oh and also the ending of 'you're not you'

ChampionOfTheSun · 22/08/2021 00:11

I think most of mine have been mentioned already. Since having DD I cry at all sorts Grin
Hacksaw Ridge
My Sisters Keeper
Me Before You
Beaches etc.
However one I've not seen mentioned is
Instant Family which is on Netflix and I cried during that lots of times. My best friend is a foster carer and she recommended it to me and said I'd cry, she was right! Lovely film though.

lyntheyresexpeople · 22/08/2021 00:13

Million dollar baby
Pay it forward
Ps I love you
And the absolute worst - green mile, makes me howl like I'm being beaten.

lyntheyresexpeople · 22/08/2021 00:18

Seven pounds
My sisters keeper
Steel magnolias
End game
Coco
Up
Inside out - Pixar just ruins me now!

AmericanBookworm · 22/08/2021 00:26

I am notorious for crying whilst watching films and television shows but the prize for making me cry the hardest goes to The Painted Veil (2007), I sob inconsolably for a good half hour every single time I watch it.

TomPinch · 22/08/2021 00:27

Atonement - the scene at the very end.

Once Were Warriors

American Beauty - where Carolyn collapses into Lester's shirts after he's murdered.

Osama My Sister.

HappyKatieA · 22/08/2021 00:32

Kramer vs Kramer
Love Story
Officer and a Gentleman
Pay it forward
Shawshank
The notebook

I'm very sure there are many more...

Betteb · 22/08/2021 06:54

So many of the ones already mentioned, but most recently the last episode of Afterlife season 2. DP asked if I wanted a cup of tea, my response was to burst into tears and sob for 15 mins 😪

DeliciousSoup · 22/08/2021 07:12

@Yellow85

Lion. Oh god I can’t even think about it without getting upset. I swear that movie has changed something in me.
On the basis of your post I just searched for Lion. I have just watched the trailer. I am crying and it's all your fault @Yellow85

And yours @UsernameNotAvailableApparently

Sob!

MrsArrison · 22/08/2021 07:56

@HelloMissus

Everything Grin. But recently - Baby Teeth and Calm With Horses.
Oh god, yes! Both of these, and they're both truly excellent, but Babyteeth in particular absolutely destroyed me. I've watched it 3 times now and each time it's been worse, not better!
notawittyname1954 · 22/08/2021 07:58

Ghost
Schindlers List
The Railway Children - the ending
The secret garden where the little boy walks again

And not a film but a tv series It's a sin - bawling through several episodes.

Banani · 22/08/2021 08:06

Philadelphia
My Girl
Up

Not films, but often Christmas adverts regularly, the John Lewis one with the little boy excited about giving his presents, and there was. Boots (I think) one a while back with a boy and his nurse mum. I definitely cry a lot more readily now than I did when I was younger.

HelloDulling · 22/08/2021 08:08

Billy Elliott. I cry from about 5 minutes in.
And Pride always makes be sob.

barbedwired · 22/08/2021 08:09

Daddy! My Daddy!

PurpleFlower1983 · 22/08/2021 08:12

@barbedwired

Daddy! My Daddy!
This also, every time! Even if I just see the last 10 minutes!
ChocolateChipBelvitaSoftBake · 22/08/2021 08:15

Beaches
I, Daniel Blake
Honey Trap
Shawshank Redemption

There will be others that pop in to my head.

ChocolateChipBelvitaSoftBake · 22/08/2021 08:15

OOH Yeah, Billy Elliot!!

LordOfTheThings · 22/08/2021 08:18

Steel Magnolias made me cry back when it first came out, but I absolutely cannot watch it now that I have a type 1 diabetic daughter. I just can't.
