To think people saying "stop moaning about the weather" need to fuck off?

I'm heavily pregnant, pale, ginger and really suffering. I'm sure there are people struggling more than I am though. I'm in London where it's expected to reach 32(?) today.

Not everybody can cope well with this heat and humidity. The met office has issued extreme weather warnings yet some people think we're supposed to be grateful for it.

AIBU to think those people need to fuck off?

You dont have to be grateful for it but equally most people in the world dont want to listen to you moan. Who are these " some people" who you've been moaning to?

I haven't been moaning to anybody, I'm watching Jeremy Vine and it's a topic of discussion. People from Scotland where it's currently only 23 degrees have been calling in saying people should stop moaning about the heat.

32 isn’t really that hot. I guess people don’t want to hear constant complaining? If you keep going on about it maybe they are just annoyed!

Blerg · 21/07/2021 10:51

Solidarity OP, have been pregnant in a hot Summer and it was rough. I genuinely can’t believe people like this weather. It feels like the sun is specifically trying to kill me.

I am also pale, freckly.

I never complain about any other type of weather. I love cool, rain, snow - anything but this. But everyone is expected to love this hot weather. It’s mad.

CounsellorTroi · 21/07/2021 10:51

32 isn’t really that hot.

It is for the UK. Do you live in the Middle East or something?

ZeroFuchsGiven · 21/07/2021 10:52

I cba listening to people moaning about the weather, it is what it is and no amount of moaning will change it.

OttilieKnackered · 21/07/2021 10:53

What is annoying me is people saying that who have: large gardens, no work to do, houses well equipped for heat (shutters, curtains, whatever), money to buy as many fans as they need, money to buy different food/takeaway if they don’t wish to cook.

Some people are stuck in overheated flats with no way of cooling down (or other shit situations).

It is if you're not used to it and the nights aren't great
PumpkinKlNG · 21/07/2021 10:54

I was complaining about the weather yesterday and my mum said “everyone hates it” errr no they don’t!!! Most people love summer, I feel like the only one that hates it sometimes. I’m a winter person.

DappledThings · 21/07/2021 10:54

Only? 23 is a hot day. About the upper limit of comfortable hot.

32 isn’t really that hot LOL

heatwavehell · 21/07/2021 10:55

Indeed, they claim that people are never happy and moan when it rains. No, I don't. When it rains, I think: thank god, it's not an effing heatwave.
That gets me through most adverse weather events, except the effing heatwave.

GCrebel · 21/07/2021 10:56

I think you are being unreasonable, but I also think if you are heavily pregnant, frankly you are allowed to be unreasonable about anything. Flowers

I hope you can keep cool, while those of us who love the heat enjoy ourselves.

It is for England if you don't have air con or a pool...

Yep unfortunately I can relate.

I'm stuck in a small flat that is a sweat box all year round, summer is unbearable in here.

I have a fan but it's not doing anything.

My living room is also my kitchen and I have to cook, which makes it all the more hot and humid.

heatwavehell · 21/07/2021 10:57

It is worse for me Grin because I live in an overinsulated house with huge windows, which means it is mostly a greenhouse and takes days to cool down even after the weather is cold again. Right now the walls are radiating heat inwards, you can feel it to touch, and it is far hotter inside than outside, with no way to cool it down.
At least in winter you can turn up the heating. In summer, my house is a literal oven.

DahliaMacNamara · 21/07/2021 10:58

Ach, it makes a nice change from Covid deniers vs Covid police. I'm fat and pale myself, so don't enjoy the hot weather much. If some people do, that's great for them. Their enjoyment doesn't make it any hotter for me. Nobody's forcing me out from behind my closed curtains.

Ghosttile · 21/07/2021 10:58

You have my sympathy. If you’re in a flat in a city (particularly London) it’s horrible. The temperature never drops enough at night to give you a break. The only positive is that it will eventually pass and it doesn’t happen that often in the U.K.

Loyaultemelie · 21/07/2021 10:59

I saw this last night and loved it! My natural skin colour is pale blue, I'm disabled and my medication has made me put on loads of weight so there's more parts of me to sweat. It's our busiest time of year and we badly need rain so yes I'm complaining it's too hot because I'm in pain and my livelihood is at risk. So I have sympathy for you op

VladmirsPoutine · 21/07/2021 10:59

I do think finding things to complain about is a distinctly British characteristic. If it were mid January, cold winter nights etc someone somewhere would still be moaning. If the local Tesco didn't have anymore Brie in stock someone will complain.

That said, I know it can't be easy for you as you're pregnant which isn't much fun even in the best of times!

stormy11 · 21/07/2021 10:59

32 degrees is hot for the UK. And and due to humidity it feels worst. Its not like hot country where it is dry air and feels nice!
Feel free to moan as much as you want op!
I love the colder weather.

CounsellorTroi · 21/07/2021 10:59

Yes the nights are awful. And getting into a car that’s like an oven.

Northernsoullover · 21/07/2021 11:00

I LOVE hot weather and I am usually one to be in the 'quit whinging' camp. However, I think the Mercury had risen to that one degree too much. Its not the hottest weather I've ever experienced. I've been to Seville. I had air con and a pool in Seville. I do not have air con or a pool here. I cannot sleep. I am praying for rain on Friday.

lllllllllll · 21/07/2021 11:00

Totally agree OP. And those saying 32 isn't that hot can sod off too - 32 is hot!

It's meant to be much cooler from Friday onwards, so not much longer...

coogee · 21/07/2021 11:03

I have neither. To me, it’s warm, not hot. When it starts getting towards 40, then it’s hot.

LetItGoToRuin · 21/07/2021 11:03

Moaning about the weather is one of the things we Brits like to do. Not a problem.

I sympathise with you living in a city centre flat and being heavily pregnant. I don't really think being pale and ginger have anything to do with it though, unless you're forced to be out in the sun all day.
