To splash out on pyjamas so expensive and louche they would make Bertie Worcester wince?

My historic pyjama choices have very much erred on the sensible side. Think and M and S two pack, polkadot and tartan (I draw the line at Disney characters, but only just).

Anyway, my business has had a hard but miraculously good year, considering. And I'm 43, so my mum can't tell me what to do anymore (well, she can and she does, but I'll not seek her frugal advice). And we finally have a grown up house, with older children, so no more sofas to buy or boobs to leek.

Surely in these circumstances, I can justify spending £125 on a pair of Toast pyjamas? Beautiful floral Indian cotton. Loose, light, probably smell of myrrh. I am reasonably confident they will make me feel like, at least, a dowager Duchess, and at best The Pursuit of Love's Linda in her very prime. I'm a hardworking woman with almost no other vices (almost...)

I spend a good deal of my life pyjama'd up. Surely this is a better use of the cash than a million other things I could use it for?

My finger has been hovering over the 'order' button all afternoon. Please someone, tell me I can.

Ok, maybe not 5 quid as I would have to buy the cloth wholesale or go out of my way to find a cheap tailor . But there are lovely 20 quid ones on Indian websites such as this one. www.fabindia.com/cotton-mull-printed-kurta-set-10671950

The quality is nowhere near the same.

I suppose, but still think the Toast ones are rather overpriced. But as OP has had a hard year, and I don't want to sound like her mother, she can buy whatever she wants:)

I thought they were going to be the Olivia von Halle ones which are £500 and dry clean only. These are practically a staple. You must do it.

I have two pairs from PJ Pan, which I absolutely adore - comfortable, well made and very pretty. They are excellent for the taller amongst us, as they do lovely long leg ones. It's simply not possible to waft about effectively if your trousers are flapping around your ankles!

I have absolutely LOVED this thread, and have bought from PJ Pan, linked above Blush even though I definitely, definitely do NOT need any more PJ bottoms. I like the look of the ones with a bit of wool in too and have bookmarked for winter Grin

Think I am obsessed tbh. I always find when watching TV / films that it's cosy-looking loungewear that makes me sit up and go "Ooh!". Not at all fussed by dresses or heels, I always think women look amazing in a great pair of plaid PJs or joggers and vest Blush. Rachel in Friends had some great PJ looks.

Brushed cotton and wool are my kryptonite, shopping-wise.

You should just buy them if you like them and can afford to.

Not that my opinion matters, but I think the Toast ones and the Jaguar ones are absolute hideous.

You'd probably think my choice of nightwear hideous too though!

And I'm back to at @QuantumWeatherButterfly (Pratchett-related??) to say a huge thank you for recommending PJ Pan. My bottoms came from them and they're PERFECT, exactly what I've been hunting for in fit, fabric and design. I'm soooo happy. Had never heard of this company but have gone back and ordered 3 more pairs. Bit of a splurge, but fuck it, I've got some overtime coming Grin
