To splash out on pyjamas so expensive and louche they would make Bertie Worcester wince?

My historic pyjama choices have very much erred on the sensible side. Think and M and S two pack, polkadot and tartan (I draw the line at Disney characters, but only just).

Anyway, my business has had a hard but miraculously good year, considering. And I'm 43, so my mum can't tell me what to do anymore (well, she can and she does, but I'll not seek her frugal advice). And we finally have a grown up house, with older children, so no more sofas to buy or boobs to leek.

Surely in these circumstances, I can justify spending £125 on a pair of Toast pyjamas? Beautiful floral Indian cotton. Loose, light, probably smell of myrrh. I am reasonably confident they will make me feel like, at least, a dowager Duchess, and at best The Pursuit of Love's Linda in her very prime. I'm a hardworking woman with almost no other vices (almost...)

I spend a good deal of my life pyjama'd up. Surely this is a better use of the cash than a million other things I could use it for?

My finger has been hovering over the 'order' button all afternoon. Please someone, tell me I can.

Bertie Worcester wouldn't flinch- he would have no idea of the cost

£125 isnt exhorbitant.
£125 for Toast is (flash over quality) - have you looked at Hanro?

GlutenFreeGingerCake · 07/07/2021 21:15

The main problem for Bertie would not be cost but whether Jeeves approved of the style.

idontlikealdi · 07/07/2021 21:27

Oh please do it but personally I like pyjamas like that for lounging so. It sleeping. I can only tolerate a vest and knickers in bed and no duvet on feet and I'm nit even bloody old. Yet.

What on earth has any of that to do with age? “Bloody old” indeed.

Until the bills came in and he had to approach Aunt Agatha for some cash Shock

@IsItMeOr

While we're talking fantasy pjs, have you seen these?

DH bought me very extravagant pyjamas last Christmas.... they're so good I ordered two more pairs. It's honestly been life changing. I waft around like a duchess at the very least. It feels amazing. You will never regret this.

pigsDOfly · 07/07/2021 22:57

@ThursdayWeld

I don't think you should. Pop the money in a nice sensible ISA instead.
What and earn 0000.1% interest on it for the next three years? Or whatever the current, almost non-existent, interest rate is.

Beautiful pyjamas are a much more worthy investment.

TheDogsMother · 07/07/2021 23:17

Those pjs are fabulous and I wish I could wear such thing but I get horribly menopause hot at night. So I am a big fan of lovely little slip nighties. I have lots of nice M & S ones
but also have a gorgeous satin Ralph Loren nightie/robe set and a silk one from Galleries Lafayette in Paris. A little bit of luxury.

Of course you can! Go wild and get 2 pairs and a robe!

But do have a look at Olivia Von Halle first. Mmmmmmmmm Smile

I’m wavering on a pair from Karen Mabon at the moment

I Marie Kondoed my wardrobe a while ago and every single thing that ‘sparked joy’ was nightwear.

I’ve really liked her prints for years but I’m not a silk scarf kind of person. Then I discovered the pyjamas …
