To splash out on pyjamas so expensive and louche they would make Bertie Worcester wince?

My historic pyjama choices have very much erred on the sensible side. Think and M and S two pack, polkadot and tartan (I draw the line at Disney characters, but only just).

Anyway, my business has had a hard but miraculously good year, considering. And I'm 43, so my mum can't tell me what to do anymore (well, she can and she does, but I'll not seek her frugal advice). And we finally have a grown up house, with older children, so no more sofas to buy or boobs to leek.

Surely in these circumstances, I can justify spending £125 on a pair of Toast pyjamas? Beautiful floral Indian cotton. Loose, light, probably smell of myrrh. I am reasonably confident they will make me feel like, at least, a dowager Duchess, and at best The Pursuit of Love's Linda in her very prime. I'm a hardworking woman with almost no other vices (almost...)

I spend a good deal of my life pyjama'd up. Surely this is a better use of the cash than a million other things I could use it for?

My finger has been hovering over the 'order' button all afternoon. Please someone, tell me I can.

I think you should order two

I think this was the robe site, just to add in extra temptation 😃🦩

oh god they are gorgeous, i wish 1) i had £255 spare, and 2) i liked wearing dressing gowns
TableFlowerss · 06/07/2021 15:43

😳😳 they better be outstanding for that price 😂

Go on - buy them

GrannyWeatherwaxsHatpin · 06/07/2021 15:44

I'm all for a bit of financial prudence, but if you can afford to buy the pyjamas why the bugger not?

I'm a recent convert to Toast and the fabrics are luuush. I justify the prices by telling myself how long the clothes will last.

notalwaysalondoner · 06/07/2021 15:44

I would say they definitely look like they'll crease like crazy, so only do it if (a) you don't mind ironing and (b) you don't mind that they'll be creased after you wake up in the morning. My mum bought me a beautiful pair of silk pyjamas for a similar price and they do crease horribly, it's such a shame. Feel amazing on though!

ExConstance · 06/07/2021 15:45

Do it, Do it, Do it. I have just ordered a tie dye cashmere hoody at great expense on te excuse of not having a mortgage anymore.

RockingGazelle · 06/07/2021 15:46

OP did you order? I think you should. Also, I see the blue pair is on sale so really it would be rude not to get a second pair....

daisychain01 · 06/07/2021 15:47

[quote Labradabradorable]Yessss! Two pairs. I need two pairs. At least. Maybe a velvet robe for the cooler months?

These be them...

I approve the business case, benefits, budget and colour choice 👍 ✅

Gorgeous description [swoon]

Supple crosshatch cotton with an intricate floral print.

PearlFriday · 06/07/2021 15:47

Do it! And take a few days off work when they arrive. Just to give them the attention they deserve.

markmichelle · 06/07/2021 15:49

I hope you have bought them by now.
Luxury treats are good for us, wearing these you will be reminded that you worked hard and overcame difficulties.
My DW made me a dark blue velvet smoking jacket, (like Poirot wears at home) wide lapels in a fancy silk.

Maggiesfarm · 06/07/2021 15:50

If you can afford it, buy what you want. It's your money. Everyone needs to treat themselves sometimes.

Plumpciousness · 06/07/2021 15:53

I ordered the Himari pjs in blue last week (£75 in the sale) and they arrived today. They're lovely and I'm keeping them!

I also got one of the kimono-sleeve robes in a different pattern in the winter sale and that is also lovely.

I'd rather pay £75 than £125 though. But at least Toast is cheaper than Liberty:

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/07/2021 15:54

Looks at own 9.99 pjs

But yes do it. Treat yourself

cooldarkroom · 06/07/2021 15:54

I say you should buy them if it makes you happy.
But let's be honest, Toast are having a laugh a minute, it's a total rip off for basic Pyjamas, I could run them up in minutes, no flies, no buttons, no shape, no pleats, no french seams.... Come on, You know its a mug's purchase

Oh dear god those reversible dressing gowns are divine!
Fairyliz · 06/07/2021 16:06

£125!!
They are made in India, I wonder how much the Indian workers get out of that?
I would want to know how much Toast pay their workers first.

iguanadonna · 06/07/2021 16:06

I bought the blue nightie and gown in the sale. They're utterly gorgeous. Fabric so much higher quality than anything else I own. PP was right - I did need another nightie for when nightie 1 is in the wash; it arrived today.

Today will find out how well they wash. I can't be ironing nighties.

Meraas · 06/07/2021 16:07

@SirenSays

Have you checked charity shops, they look very old fashioned and a bit bargain bin to me tbh. I wouldn't have them if they were free but as Marie kondo says if they bring you joy...
Hmm

I'm from South Asia, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to fabrics. That cotton is not bargain basement.

HappyGoLuckyLuLu · 06/07/2021 16:07

I have been coveting these toast jammies:

www.toa.st/collections/womens-nightwear/products/lotus-floral-cap-sleeve-pyjamas-dark-teal

But just can't justify the price, will ask for them as a pressie next chance I get I think

Meraas · 06/07/2021 16:08

sorry meant to do Shock face not Hmm

dottiedodah · 06/07/2021 16:08

Hit the button Girl ! You are entitled to the PJs .£125.00 worked out over the year works out at about £2.40 PW. cheap at half the price I think .Just think how luxurious you will feel .!

Brogues · 06/07/2021 16:09

Yes you can. Go for it.

PoorPawsPickPawpaws · 06/07/2021 16:11

Good pyjamas are the crack cocaine of the middle aged. And like a drug pusher, I whisper "Go on, try them..." in your ear....

TheCrowening · 06/07/2021 16:13

Do it. They’ll last and they’re lovely.

The links on this thread make me feel a bit glad I’m fat, otherwise I’d be skint.

GlutenFreeGingerCake · 06/07/2021 16:14

These look beautiful the PJs and the robes. I love the description too louche for Bertie Wooster.
