To splash out on pyjamas so expensive and louche they would make Bertie Worcester wince?

My historic pyjama choices have very much erred on the sensible side. Think and M and S two pack, polkadot and tartan (I draw the line at Disney characters, but only just).

Anyway, my business has had a hard but miraculously good year, considering. And I'm 43, so my mum can't tell me what to do anymore (well, she can and she does, but I'll not seek her frugal advice). And we finally have a grown up house, with older children, so no more sofas to buy or boobs to leek.

Surely in these circumstances, I can justify spending £125 on a pair of Toast pyjamas? Beautiful floral Indian cotton. Loose, light, probably smell of myrrh. I am reasonably confident they will make me feel like, at least, a dowager Duchess, and at best The Pursuit of Love's Linda in her very prime. I'm a hardworking woman with almost no other vices (almost...)

I spend a good deal of my life pyjama'd up. Surely this is a better use of the cash than a million other things I could use it for?

My finger has been hovering over the 'order' button all afternoon. Please someone, tell me I can.

Best thread in ages 😂

You MUST make the purchase

Blossomtoes · 06/07/2021 14:56

Obviously not in the same league as Toast or Liberty but I’ve had this for years and wafting about in it makes me feel like a 50s film-star.

You are a very bad person ... those dressing gowns 😍
IfWishesWereKisses · 06/07/2021 15:04

Ooft, but too expensive for me! I am working myself up to buying myself a pair of these once I can justify the cost…and then a kimono or two!

Cyberjammies

I have these ones & a matching robe Smile

IntermittentParps · 06/07/2021 15:05

YANBU. DO IT.

My personal PJ downfall is not Toast but Desmond & Dempsey, as dangled in front of our noses on this thread by others, but I totally get the principle.

MaskingForIt · 06/07/2021 15:08

Do it. I haven’t bought expensive pyjamas but I have spent rather a lot of money on Liberty fabric and made my own.

Ooohhh I love their throwovers!

Vetyveriohohoh · 06/07/2021 15:12

I absolutely INSIST that you do. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly your mother trolling you on MN ;)

IntermittentParps · 06/07/2021 15:13

Is Nigella's Venice dressing gown from the same place? I loved that.

IntermittentParps · 06/07/2021 15:14

As the Paris one, sorry.

Oh yes, you absolutely must buy them!

I have a pair of pyjamas plus matching robe from White Suff that I got a few years ago. I love them so much I bought a special hook for the back of the bedroom door just to hang the robe on.

Have you checked charity shops, they look very old fashioned and a bit bargain bin to me tbh. I wouldn't have them if they were free but as Marie kondo says if they bring you joy...

Oh my!! These are gorgeous. Waaaay out my price range but I will dream of floating around in one of them looking all wistful and ethereal. Might write my debut novel in it or float around looking at my art work. Or, you know just lounge, dahling.

I do like the fact that some of them are reversible so really you're getting 2 for one. Bargain!

OllyBJolly · 06/07/2021 15:25

I was directed towards this company by the lovely posters on here www.loveyawn.com/collections/pyjama-sets

Now proud owner of the most luxurious PJs ever. Might have to buy a second set!

FusionChefGeoff · 06/07/2021 15:25

Oh phew - I was seriously worried then that I would also fall in love and have to go through a similar exercise to justify said purchase. However, the colours aren't quite me.

However, in your case I absolutely would.

Hope they are everything you dreamed they would be.

GurlwiththeCurl · 06/07/2021 15:27

I would be careful with Toast. I ordered pyjamas from them months ago and they still haven’t arrived. The conversations I have had with them have been complicated and unhelpful. In fact, I’m going to try again tomorrow to get the one thing that hasn’t been cancelled by them.

I feel really reluctant to order anything from them again.

mintylovely · 06/07/2021 15:31

These are amazing and ethically produced: powellcraftboutique.com/collections/ladies-pyjamas

Whitney168 · 06/07/2021 15:32

Every time this Shibumi website is brought up, I end up dithering for days - I so want one ...

For a premium product, they are spectacularly unhelpful with measurements though - if it says a length, I can't see it. I am between sizes, and couldn't get any measurements out of them. (Would dither between L and XL - wouldn't want it too small, but the XL size range is huge and I don't want to be swamped either.)

If I ever pass by their store, I am sure I will be lost.

ResilienceWanker · 06/07/2021 15:33

Yessssss. Do it!

I bought the dressing gown in the blue in the sale a few weeks ago, along with some other things. The other things went back, but the beautiful wafty, yet substantial gown stayed with me, even though way more ££££ than I should have spent. Bizarrely, toast refunded me for the entire order. Being honest and upstanding I fessed up Halo and asked them how to pay them back. And just today they replied to say there's no way of doing that, so I should just keep it Grin So freeeeeeeee loveliness. Well done me.

But also, I am using it in covid convalescence, so swings and roundabouts.

Doesn't smell of myhrr though, unfortunately (or it didn't when I could smell anything).
