To splash out on pyjamas so expensive and louche they would make Bertie Worcester wince?

My historic pyjama choices have very much erred on the sensible side. Think and M and S two pack, polkadot and tartan (I draw the line at Disney characters, but only just).

Anyway, my business has had a hard but miraculously good year, considering. And I'm 43, so my mum can't tell me what to do anymore (well, she can and she does, but I'll not seek her frugal advice). And we finally have a grown up house, with older children, so no more sofas to buy or boobs to leek.

Surely in these circumstances, I can justify spending £125 on a pair of Toast pyjamas? Beautiful floral Indian cotton. Loose, light, probably smell of myrrh. I am reasonably confident they will make me feel like, at least, a dowager Duchess, and at best The Pursuit of Love's Linda in her very prime. I'm a hardworking woman with almost no other vices (almost...)

I spend a good deal of my life pyjama'd up. Surely this is a better use of the cash than a million other things I could use it for?

My finger has been hovering over the 'order' button all afternoon. Please someone, tell me I can.

I buy Cyberjammies pyjamas - hardly ever wear them for bed as I usually sleep nude, but they are lovely for lounging about in Smile

SunshineCake · 06/07/2021 14:22

these

SunshineCake · 06/07/2021 14:23

Think that's the wrong link.

DH bought me a pair of liberty silk pj's for Christmas.
I haven't actually been able to bring myself to wear them yet.
But I'm going to dig them out and wear them next week.

Go for it OP.

ScottishNewbie · 06/07/2021 14:25

100% do it!

SirVixofVixHall · 06/07/2021 14:25

Of course you must buy them.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 06/07/2021 14:27

Missing the point of the thread, but it's WOOSTER.

GCAcademic · 06/07/2021 14:28

I have a wonderful collection of Toast nighties (including the one in the fabric you’ve linked to, OP). I love Indian textiles so am a complete sucker for them. They don’t smell of myrrh, though, sorry!

chesirecat99 · 06/07/2021 14:31

@Thewindsofchange

What will you do when they're in the wash? Your other ones will feel so drab in comparison.

You'll need two pairs Grin

The blue version is on sale for £75...
WellTidy · 06/07/2021 14:31

Do it. My taste is more modest, but during the first lockdown I bought three sets of loungewear and three pairs of pyjamas and it was one of the best decisions I made in the whole year. I congratulate myself on it every time I wear them (who’s of pretty much daily).

CrazyCatsAndKittens · 06/07/2021 14:32

Buy one pair and if you love them, buy a second pair. If you buy two and they aren’t comfy, you’ll kick yourself.

Needhelp101 · 06/07/2021 14:33

DO IT, OP.

I used to have some White Company pure silk pyjamas. They were wonderful.

thereisonlyoneofme · 06/07/2021 14:34

Well thanks a bunch. I was quite happy with my M & S sets, please delete thread before I click on links

Beendownthisroadmorethantwice · 06/07/2021 14:34

See the problem with going down this route is that then your bedding will seem drab and boring in compassion.

Next thing you know you’re in a gold plated double king bed with sheets made of 1million thread count Egyptian cotton and pillows made of raw silk.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/07/2021 14:35

Ohhhh I REALLY want one of those gorgeous robes, @DoylyCarte! Sadly - or perhaps luckily for our bank account - I am too Larry even for the largest size. If I manage to lose enough weight, though….

Yes, they’re brilliant quality and have held their shape really well despite my love of tumble drying.

They’ve also gotten softer and softer with every wash- will definitely be buying a third pair!

Bipbopbee · 06/07/2021 14:38

Yes! Do it Wink

tallduckandhandsome · 06/07/2021 14:39

Very pretty but I cannot be doing with all revere and Nehru collars.

I'm loving the Primark Pastel Restore Print Pyjama Shirt, it was £10 in store. So light and summery, like lawn.

IdblowJonSnow · 06/07/2021 14:43

Agree you should enjoy your hard work and treat yourself!
I bought a slightly more expensive pair of pjs than usual and 6 months on I still love them and get a kick out of wearing them.
£35 instead of ten to 20 pounds, I've had frugality drilled into me!!

Wear them, please wear them. I can only imagine how amazing they are.
LeonardLikesThisPost · 06/07/2021 14:46

Ooh I have a Toast dressing gown. Treated myself last summer. It's just cotton, but it's so soft and has this very cool Japanese feel, something about the cut, I think.

Worth every penny for how much enjoyment I get every time I wear it.

ghostyslovesheets · 06/07/2021 14:48

I have lots of Primark PJs and robes - very good quality (not silk!)

I lust after a silk robe from Liberty- my hobby is going in just to touch them!

Backhills · 06/07/2021 14:49

Yes, expensive luxurious pyjamas, absolutely go for it, but can I direct you to Wallace Cotton. I've just bought a summer dressing gown, so soft, so silky, it just feels wonderful.

I think this was the robe site, just to add in extra temptation 😃🦩

Oh @Doyly, I love a kimono. Cashmere and silk, how come I've never seen that site before?
Dozer · 06/07/2021 14:52

Fab thread, but would like more links!

My nightwear is shocking, and not in the right way.
