It's all kicking off on ours! A local counsellor has put up access only signs on local roads that people use to avoid the massive traffic jams on the one main road out of the village. If you don't use the local roads you can be sitting in traffic for 45 mins.

This morning villagers sat in the street to stop people using the road, it's split the community! Grin up in arms they are!

What's happening in yours ?

People up in arms about the local farm starting up an animal crematorium facility. They cant get their heads around the difference between legitimate planning concerns and the NIMBY comments.

And lots of ring doorbell footage of amazon drivers mounting the kerbs.

I live very near a brand new estate where everyone thinks they own the whole village because they paid a lot for their house.

Birdkin · 30/06/2021 08:04

Outrage about cycle lanes.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 30/06/2021 08:05

Multiple dogs on the loose, confusion about bin collections ( its the same day every week ) and terrible home made things for sale

  • no one does anything for our community, we are the forgotten community, why can't we have an ASDA
  • next to legitimate posts by community activists who are genuinely trying and running events and meetings that no one attends.
  • bitching about electric scooters/ cyclists
  • why did no one tell us about the new estate?!
  • posts about engaging with plans for new estate and community feedback
  • frothing at the mouth about travellers
  • ignoring the mess left by anyone else who's not a traveller
  • casual racism
Drivingmeupthewall · 30/06/2021 08:31

Someone’s found a budgie, someone else moaned about a rude customer at McDonalds speaking to a staff member like shit (cue trillions of posters saying you could of said it to his face instead of posting on here’ 😑) and lots of others have shat their pants at the persistent rumour about Home Bargains coming to the area. It’s been a mixture of horror shatting and delight shatting. I live in an area of extreme opposites, where wealth and poverty, all brush up unhappily next to one another.

The usual dog shit
Helicopter
Big bangs
Hope the people in the overturned car are ok
Is the pop up vaccination centre doing Pfizer or Astra Zeneca
Thanking the person in the white Range Rover for pulling out
Offering nasty looking desserts for sale
This morning it’s all about the duck in someone’s garden. Is it a baby? Has it had its wings clipped?
Would the rspca collect it?

IntermittentParps · 30/06/2021 09:25

I hardly look at mine at the mo. It's all about road closures/changing the roads and parking so they're less bike-friendly, or more bike-friendly, or there's less parking, or more parking, or…zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Except when someone finds a cat that they think is lost/abandoned (but almost always turns out to be just, you know, being a cat: roaming its territory, or looking for a mug to feed it), when it goes SERIOUSLY batshit and is quite entertaining.

MargaretThursday · 30/06/2021 09:39

We've had a load of "found a homing pigeon". Apparently there was a weather phenomenon which meant homing pigeons got confused. Several people found them in their gardens and put up a picture of "does anyone know whose this is?"
How people recognise them as their own is beyond me, they all look identifiable, and none of the finders wanted to go close enough to read the ring on their leg.

Pottedpalm · 30/06/2021 09:53

Well done, OP! This thread has given me so many laughs.
Bolognese Incident wins it for me.
Oh, and we have yet more Fly Tipping today. And more random Irish looking men in vans cruising the village to steal dogs…, allegedly.

SpringLoadedJizz · 30/06/2021 10:02

Every couple of days we seem to have another "does anyone recognise this cat, it was really hungry so I think it's a stray and I've been feeding it" followed by an irate owner commenting that their cat has barely been at home, and it's often a cat on a special diet or needing medication.

Then a bunch of "can anyone recommend a removal company/tradesperson" which gets asked almost daily and they could easily search to see the previous recommendations.

IntermittentParps · 30/06/2021 10:09

SpringLoadedJizz, I think you live in my manor Grin

TBF about tradesperson ones, they often do get 'updated' as in someone recommends them, someone else uses them and finds them to be rubbish so they post their own opinion, etc etc,

AdoptedBumpkin · 30/06/2021 10:14

I have no idea, as I'm not a member of any local FB groups. I simply don't wish to risk unwittingly offending someone (or worse still, numerous people) I don't know, who I might then bump into. I live in a sparsely populated area so this is a real possibility.

BillThePony · 30/06/2021 10:14

Where I am at the moment

Mainly the hate for the tram line extension that has almost completely messed up the main road and nobody can cross the road.

I don't live in the area but come back to see my dad a lot and I must admit they have a point.

Where I usually live it's always cat found (who are not lost at all)

I don't ever post on any of the local FB groups (apart from when I once found a child's coat in my front garden ti reunite it with it's owner).

I'm a member purely for entertainment value but don't ever get involved.

Gorkastalker · 30/06/2021 11:11

Loads of missing tuxedo cats.

Loads of "can anyone recommend a plasterer / gardener / cleaner" and the same people commenting "yes me, here's my details" EVERY TIME. Just do a search in the group instead of posting again and again!!

DIKateFleming · 30/06/2021 11:47

We’ve got a local roads one too. They’ve gone one better than access signs here.

There’s a small road or track, depending on who you believe, which may or may not be public access, private road, unadopted etc. Someone on the road has put a gate across it to stop people using it as a rat run. Lots of debate and quoting of various clauses of the Highways Act arguing as to whether this is legal/ proportionate/ rational. May or may not be to stop fly tippers - again dispute as to whether it’s a problem on this lane. Don’t quite understand why the local council can’t just clarify the matter, but anyway hours of debate.

Millionsofpeachez · 30/06/2021 11:52

People asking for takeaway menus despite these being published on the restaurant’s website, and the restaurant having a fb page.
Ditto about some temporary road closures, plus we’ve all had a leaflet.
Lager lout behaviour following England’s win
Pretty samey

TheSockMonster · 30/06/2021 12:00

It’s all kicked off on ours!

A local wildlife trust has installed cameras and a Ringo parking paypoint in a nearby beauty spot car park. Members of the trust (who pay £42/year and currently receive just one rather crappy magazine) are complaining there is no discount/exemption for members. As a member myself, I have some sympathy with this! To compound matters, it seems the car park is in a mobile black spot, so the Ringo app cannot be used and lots of disgruntled people are posting they had to go elsewhere.

Bollindger · 30/06/2021 12:11
Someone posted this, because the school are trying to change the school rules.

Guess who won both the gender races at sports day. One child.

Teapotsandtablecloths · 30/06/2021 12:15

@AZFell

Someone bought a 4 pack of doughnuts from Asda, then realised they were charged £9 instead of £1... but only after eating 3 out of the pack. We've had a whole weekend of £9 doughnut memes. It's been very entertaining.
We obviously live in the same place 😂
SaltAndVinegarSandwiches · 30/06/2021 12:39

Last night a woman in the village asked of she could borrow a dishwasher tablet in exchange for money or two dishwasher tablets the next day when the shops opened.

Someone quickly dropped her off the tablet. Then a massive argument ensued because apparently the village is now full of middle class snobs too posh to do their washing up. Original poster then said she's 9 months pregnant and tired and was going to pay for the tablet anyway. Apparently the moaner did all her washing up even when 9 months pregnant with a broken wrist too. The argument continued way beyond the time the dishwasher cycle would have finished.

Yeah the tradesperson one I can understand when it's spaced out. It does get annoying when it's multiple times a day but it seems to go in waves, we won't hear anything for weeks now I bet then 3 in a day. Grin

We have a new drama. Nails in sweets left out for dogs to eat, with photos.

IntermittentParps · 30/06/2021 12:51

Nails in sweets left out for dogs to eat, with photos. Shock

I also dislike when someone says 'can anyone recommend a plumber/cleaner' etc and actual plumbers/cleaners come on and say 'Yes, me, very reliable, great prices' blah blah. We want RECOMMENDATIONS, not you to try to flog us your own services!
