It's all kicking off on ours! A local counsellor has put up access only signs on local roads that people use to avoid the massive traffic jams on the one main road out of the village. If you don't use the local roads you can be sitting in traffic for 45 mins.

This morning villagers sat in the street to stop people using the road, it's split the community! Grin up in arms they are!

What's happening in yours ?

Someone shared an image of a local criminal and someone commented "He looks German." Very strange folk round here.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 29/06/2021 20:43

I don’t know, I got blocked for calling the admin a disingenuous cunt.

NiceCardigan · 29/06/2021 20:45

As well as the lost dogs, cats and parcels ours has lots of stuff about the vaccine centre - when is it open? Are they doing drop ins? What if I can’t find my nhs number? What is the parking like? etc etc

Pr1mus · 29/06/2021 20:45

I clicked on this threat to mention the £9 donuts but somebody beat me to it. Oh the memes though 😂

Pr1mus · 29/06/2021 20:45

*thread sorry

Firevixen · 29/06/2021 20:46

Lol @ Megan markle stealing a bench 😂😂

On ours, lots of people complaining that the council have not been cutting the grass verges (for wildlife) and that it's making the town look shabby!

There has also been a bolognese incident. Apparently a bunch of youths have been throwing bolognese through open windows at night, ruining everyone's curtains and making old men fall out of bed in shock.

victorioussponges · 29/06/2021 20:46

A guy has posted an ad for children parties under the name Magic Mike...several people have pointed out that this is not ideal...only for him to huff that he started trading many years before the film Grin

NatMoz · 29/06/2021 20:49

There's a missing pet python in my area!

Girlstuff · 29/06/2021 20:49

Im from up north,my partner from down south and we live in the midlands
So between us we are members of 3 local fb groups
His is full of ‘we need a housekeeper/nanny/gardener to start tomorrow-salary is £1,000 a week’ and ‘does anyone know of a cello/violin/piano teacher?my son needs to start immediately’
Mine is ‘anyone know who this is?he stabbed my mate last night’ or ‘these twats nicked my tools out the back of my van last night-name and shame’ (above a grainy picture of some vandal in a hoody)
Our joint one is ‘who’s car is this parked in front of my house-move it or I’ll clamp it (cue a million-‘you can’t if it’s on public road’)’ ‘or ‘has this fallen out of your bin? picture of a scrap of paper if it’s yours, come and claim it immediately’

Amuses me no end

cauliflowerkorma · 29/06/2021 20:50

Travellers watch here. Two camps-honest hardworking people who did a lovely job on my driveway vs police stood at the entrance of all local parks and playing fields as they were 'on the move'. And lots of photos of the rubbish and mess from their last site.

There has been little talk of anything else for a week.

MirandaMarple · 29/06/2021 20:50

Major excitement about the village scarecrow festival this weekend.

Elmrosie · 29/06/2021 20:50

There's a campaign to get drivers to switch off their engines while waiting outside schools for their kids, posts letting people know when the next driving tests are available (mid-November!) plus the usual need a workman/mobile hairdresser posts.

ExamStress2021 · 29/06/2021 20:51

@NatMoz I just posted that. Surely there can’t be 2 and we must be in the same (small) area!

PrettyLittleFlies · 29/06/2021 20:53

Lost a dog
Found a dog
Endless whining about road works
Someone's McDonalds delivery arrived minus a McFlurry, 168 posts of outrage

vampirethriller · 29/06/2021 20:55

Someone is angry about rubbish, someone else is angry with the quality of the local chippy, and someone else is trying to sell bread.

Grainjar · 29/06/2021 20:55

Today someone is selling a wheelchair that's never been used.
Complaints about dangerous motorcycle delivery drivers., who think the rules of the highway don't apply to them.
And a request for people to STOP using a road as though it were Silverstone and use the roundabout properly.
A brown haired youth with a pasty complexion is offering to pave drives and it's a lie that he's doing a neighbour's drive.

Batsy · 29/06/2021 20:56

recommendation requests, lost cats/'please stop feeding my cat' posts.

There's quite a few photos of parcels on doorsteps with 'this is my parcel, but thats not my doorstep, if its yours, dm me" requests.

anti-social behaviour/racing up the village through-road complaints.

posts about sheep being in the lane/escaped the field.

complaints to the local HA about the weeds

and the usual dog poo, and bad parking moans.

NatMoz · 29/06/2021 20:57

@ExamStress2021

I must have missed that. If you're Stockport then yes we're the same area otherwise...people need to keep a close watch on their pet snakes on a nationwide level!!

Kakiweewee · 29/06/2021 21:00

Moaning about GP and dentist appointments.

And talking about the cactus lady.

riotlady · 29/06/2021 21:03

Some absolutely thrilling stuff on mine

Here's a picture of a steam train that went past at the weekend

The council have planted some bulbs

Lost wedding ring/keys/phone

PhillipPhillop · 29/06/2021 21:04

Daily or so it seems - lads riding bikes the wrong way up a one way street. Pedestrians knocked over/injured/scared/outraged. It will kick off because someone knows one of them is Debbie's Charlie. Cue Debbie ranting it's not, he's a good boy, someone saying they have CCTV to prove it, lots of you fucking liar, you're the liar, say that to my face, I know where you live etc. Then 'comments turned off'.
Other than that mainly recommendations for builders, eyelash extensions etc.

riotlady · 29/06/2021 21:05

Oooh there's also a ringed zebra finch (??) on the loose

tapdancingmum · 29/06/2021 21:06

A ring doorbell video of someone having a shit in front of someone's gate 😱 they are trying to find out who did it.

Lots of complaints about the lorries parking on the verges or down a narrow lane where they are building 64 houses. It's carnage at the moment but will be worse when the houses are occupied with the varying amount of cars it will bring.

AliasGrape · 29/06/2021 21:06

Someone wanting to know what the noise was in the field behind the school because it was very loud and sounded like a bouncy castle. Lots of replies telling her it was indeed children on a bouncy castle (school was doing it as a treat for certain/ all pupils apparently).

Lamenting that there is no McDonalds in the village. People horrified at the very idea. Lots of suggestions to move to somewhere that did have a McDonalds if poster was that bothered.

Football is coming home - a number of badly scanning poems to this effect.

Not see any today but the group seems to be mostly dedicated to alerting members to potential dognappers - any vehicle that idles, stops, pulls away or drives slowly in the vicinity of any member of the group is reported as potential dognappers, all vans are definitely dognappers, at least 4 times a week there are increasingly dramatic (and I suspect somewhat embellished) accounts of group members innocently going about their dog walking business when a suspicious van pulls up and various thuggish looking men descend, the other day they were even carrying baseball bats. At the last minute more pedestrians appear or an alarm sounds nearby or a bird flutters its wings or something and the villains are spooked into a hasty retreat without managing to ‘nap a single pooch. None of the people posting about these encounters ever think to take the reg or report to the police.

To my knowledge there have been no actual confirmed cases of dog napping in the area, proving that although the potential ‘nappers are numerous they are shockingly ineffective.
