Surely you would have cameras in a Government building and surely pointing it at doorways between different areas or departments isn't a bad idea.
It looks like a screenshot of a cctv security camera monitor.

Surely it can’t only have been going on six weeks Confused if they’re moving in together etc?!

mrsbyers · 27/06/2021 08:15

Saw the whole video either , my eyes !

PicsInRed · 27/06/2021 08:16

It's just occurred to me - did Hancock have both a financial and personal interest to extend lockdown and then restrictions? I wonder what Whitty and Valance have to say, did they agree with him, or did they have concerns?

It's extremely stark that Hancock's mates were getting rich off covid and he was getting his end away and this set Hancock up for doantions to campaigns and then mate's jobs when he eventually left politics (see: David Cameron).

Did Hancock extend restrictions unnecessarily? That's a question which should be asked.

IheartJKR · 27/06/2021 08:17

I feel so angry in the wives behalf, mostly because he doesn’t seem sorry at all.
From what I can see he regards his wife as a footnote in his life.

Bastard

I agree, I feel so sad for her! Awful man!!

I posted this at the end of the last thread so I'll repeat it here again

I think this is the distraction that pp's were talking about, that hidden cameras were planted in minister's offices. Everybody is salivating over the gory affair details as it's shocking. However, people haven't considered the security implications of hidden cameras in a government office. They're too busy reading the sensationalist headlines.

How many hidden cameras are there? Who is planting them and who is tipping off the press? Some countries like Russia would pay top dollar for footage. I think Hancock's affair was accidentally filmed, the real reason for the camera was to record state state business for an outside agency. Whitehall can't admit a massive security breach like this to the public so Hancock is the fall guy.

I'm sorry but I doubt it. have you seen what's going around you with Delta, bursting bubble, after bursting bubble.

MH is such a sleazy weasel but the vaccine rollout was second to none.
If he has done shady business it must be brought to justice.

Roussette · 27/06/2021 08:23

I don't think the affair is the thing here. I think it's the private Gmail account Hancock uses, to conduct governmental business and award contracts to friends. No record then...

Yes, the affair will have been going on far longer than May, which means that during the brutal winter lockdown he will have broken every rule going.

PicsInRed · 27/06/2021 08:24

The camera wasn't hidden. It was CCTV, trained only on the door, which had been there since before Hancock took the office.

MI5 have said they aren't getting involved.

The "hidden camera" nonsense is the divert. The real news is the corruption. The next news is how severe and serious the corruption was.

Roussette · 27/06/2021 08:26

Absolutely

And the private Gmail account Hancock used. I think there is a lot coming up if it sees the light

GloomyWaters · 27/06/2021 08:28

His wife is now left to pick up the pieces with the kids...wonder if she'll make a statement and keep wearing her wedding rings

He and his OW now have no job and no homes...hope a freeze has been put on his bank account before he starts splashing the cash on a love nest

bonfireheart · 27/06/2021 08:30

He does have a job, he is still getting paid £80k+ to be on bank benches.

prettyvisitor · 27/06/2021 08:30

What?! He's moving in with her? I didn't catch this

Treehaus · 27/06/2021 08:30

I feel for his wife as well. People do fall in love with others (although he's known her since university so has probably always held a flame for her), but its so cowardly and unfair not to have the respect for a spouse to be honest and break things off with them when it first becomes apparent, rather than just wait until you're about to be exposed; vile.

DM link (sorry!) but Michael's card being firmly marked here! Spotted via Marina Hyde - as she says, a lot to unpack.

Regulus · 27/06/2021 08:32

I'm convinced the footage was set up, there is something too hammy about it all.
when this first broke I thought someone had set up MH, but now I wondered if he hasn't orchestrated it all.
Everyone knew his boss thought he was 'fucking useless' even he must have realised that he was incompetent.
This video solves two problems, lets him resign for being a shagger rather than for his role in the death of thousands and cunts for contracts, and deals with leaving his wife and forcing the relationship into the open.
Only thing is I'm not sure I give him credit for being able to organise it

I don't think it is clear is it? Many conflicting stories about hidden cameras. Behind a paywall but the gist is in the title.

He had to go and I have sympathy for both their families.

That said I do agree the spying, leaks and footage selling are concerning in what should be secure government buildings.

C8H10N4O2 · 27/06/2021 08:33

And all those external consultancies and lobby positions for the future. I wouldn't waste a microsecond on sympathy for him.

bonfireheart · 27/06/2021 08:34

It wasn't a hidden camera, it was from someone within who is protected is they say they are a 'whistle-blower', hence no investigation into finding out who they are, because who knows what else they have to reveal.

bonfireheart · 27/06/2021 08:35

Orchestrating this would be idiotic even for him.

TheQueef · 27/06/2021 08:35

Must say it does look like deliberate security footage rather than covert/ clandestine recording.

Scummer was too busy trying to hump a woman at work to consider any recordings being made.
He was thinking with little matt. Angry

PicsInRed · 27/06/2021 08:37

He was thinking with little matt.

His overworked sinew.

LunaNorth · 27/06/2021 08:37

He totally wanted this to happen, even on a subconscious level.

He must have known they were frotting in full view of CCTV. It’s a govt building, FFS.

And being Health Secretary must have been crap, especially when you’re as shit at it as he was.

He’s basically pressed the self-destruct button. Now he’ll skip away and leave his mess behind.

PersonaNonGarter · 27/06/2021 08:38

It WASNT cctv footage. It was hidden in the smoke detector.

He was spied on.
