Surely you would have cameras in a Government building and surely pointing it at doorways between different areas or departments isn't a bad idea.
It looks like a screenshot of a cctv security camera monitor.

A friend in America posted this article on Facebook and it seems to sum up the current state of Britain perfectly: eand.co/britain-is-the-worlds-newest-failed-state-ac460fa3e77a

Odisia · 03/07/2021 07:35

Notjustacigar hardly a balanced article. Whilst I agree with much of it, there's nothing about the good things happening. Our politicians may be failing us, but many of the people of Britain are doing great things. Working hard in the NHS, volunteering in vaccination centres etc etc. We're hardly just the 'little people' this article talks about. I'm proud to live in the most vibrant, multicultural city in the world, one that Americans love to visit. We are more than just 'Brits'.

Weebleweeble · 03/07/2021 07:46

Haha, yeah we Brits need to model ourselves on that great nation across the water - everyone's equal, no covid, no school shootings etcetcetc

Exactly! What a ridiculous article I can't quite believe it was linked Grin

Yes but unfortunately, quite a bit of it is true, the corruption in Govt now is shocking. Gove was found guilty in court last week. Hancock the Hypocrite/PPE contracts. Johnson marking government homework & that of his ministers - Patel, Jenrick plus his own misdemeanors.

Plus so much of the NHS is already privatised.

Unfortunately, modelling ourselves on the USA has been a British obsession for decades now.

Roussette · 03/07/2021 08:43

That article! No country likes criticism from another country, the US really doesn't, but unfortunately in this case, they've hit the nail on the end with some of it.

The article is brutal, uncompromising, incorrect in parts, correct in parts.

Contracts for cronies, yes
One rule for us, different rules for Ministers, yes
The NHS, privatisation by stealthy
Channel 4 I hope not
GB News, will die off as quickly as it started. It is cheap, nasty, and unprofessional.

What the article says about Brexit and its supporters is spot on.....Nationalism.

I bet Johnson is desperate for England to win tonight... he wants the feelgood factor in the country, hence him stood on the giant St Georges flag at Downing Street.

I can see why it would hit a nerve with a Brexit voting Tory. If only it was ridiculous, some of it is exactly what many of us have been saying on this thread.
Peregrina · 03/07/2021 09:30

Oh boy! If England win tonight, Johnson will be - "waffle , waffle, piffle, couldn't have done it without me boys". If they lose, he will be a bit quiet.

I can't help think that this Gove/Vine announcement has come on a convenient day, to hide the fact that the Tories did not win the by election they were confident of. Their candidate was deemed the Invisible Man apparently.

Weebleweeble · 03/07/2021 09:31

Yes, but who is saying it ? Ordinary voters or an American crusader??

Blossomtoes · 03/07/2021 09:38

Both.
SueSaid · 03/07/2021 09:49

'can see why it would hit a nerve with a Brexit voting Tory'

I'm neither? As I keep on saying I'll happily vote Labour if they ever get their arses in gear but in 2019 Red Jezza was not remotely electable. Which I think you probably know..

I just don't think anyone in the US should be lecturing us. They've had Trump as president fgs, now they have someone who can hardly string a sentence together. Tbh they should concentrate on the far more serious matter of their shocking gun crime rather than looking at our ministers caught breaking SD rules 🙄.

SueSaid · 03/07/2021 09:51

'bet Johnson is desperate for England to win tonight... he wants the feelgood factor in the country, hence him stood on the giant St Georges flag at Downing Street.'

And what, pray tell, is wrong with that?!

Peregrina · 03/07/2021 09:56

Nothing wrong with him wanting England to win, but we know how much he will big it up.

BTW - who are they playing? I am not a football fan, as you may have guessed.

SueSaid · 03/07/2021 10:05

'bet Johnson is desperate for England to win tonight... he wants the feelgood factor in the country, hence him stood on the giant St Georges flag at Downing Street.'

Also, would you say the same if Sturgeon did this if (if they'd got through) or Wales, France etc? What is wrong with supporting your country and being proud and patriotic! St George's flag does not equal the national front y'know.

The Ukraine peregrina. I'm not a fan either tbh although I do like Southgate he seems to have a bit of integrity and isn't an arrogant arse like we see so many of in footie.

Roussette · 03/07/2021 10:08

And what, pray tell, is wrong with that?!

Because everything he does is to cover up something else and he will cash in on any victory. Just like he and little Matty Hancock did with the vaccination programme, anyone would think they administered every vaccine personally, and MH saying he's busy saving lives...
Anyone with any sense knows their game

Roussette · 03/07/2021 10:10

BJ is incapable of answering any questions at PMQ without going back to the vaccination record. He even did it when questioned by Starmer on the appalling rape conviction record
We know their game

Peregrina · 03/07/2021 10:23

St George's flag does not equal the national front y'know.

But unfortunately for many it has become associated with them or EDL or football hooligans generally.

Turned out that Matt Hancock was not busy saving lives, but saving his own skin.

Notonthestairs · 03/07/2021 10:27

I don't like politicians using sport as cover for their failings.

I also don't believe for a moment Johnson watches football through choice so his support doesn't ring true.

You put it so much better than me! Yes yes yes to this. Of course when being interviewed and asked what score you hope for or whatever, answer in the right way.
But Johnson stood on that big flag ewwwwww

Here is Boris watching football.... a must see! 😂😂

the80sweregreat · 03/07/2021 11:03

Boris J must be more of a rugby fan I would imagine ?
Kate looked so much happier at the tennis yesterday than she did at Wembley on Tuesday.

Football is still seen as a ' working class' game even though the entire England team individuals are all richer than Boris is ( probably)

No one watches 90 minutes of football perched on a dining table…
Notonthestairs · 03/07/2021 11:12

I guess they were being very careful not to show what their very expensively decorated living room looks like.

LittleBearPad · 03/07/2021 11:15

True. Or the decorating stuff as all the very expensive wallpaper is rehung after falling off the walls

Piglet89 · 03/07/2021 12:46

Johnson's near-constant appearances at factories and various "ordinary" workplaces - do me a favour. Middle of a raging pandemic and every other day, he's bumbling around the country, messing about in overalls, acting the goat, having a laugh. Doing what he's more comfortable doing, rather than an actual day of graft (at that stage, attending various committee meetings deciding what to do next to navigate through the crisis).

Man's a complete waste of space.
