New neighbours - bbqing multiple times a day

We have new neighbours. They're brand new so I have limited data on which to base my AIBU on. But here goes.

They bbq'd their dinner last night. Which I didn't care less about, it was the evening meaning my washing was in, and it's a weekend. Fine.

But today, they bbq'd their lunch, and are now back out their bbqing their sodding dinner.

AIBU in thinking this is a bit much? My house smells of acrid meat. Plus they seem to shout at each other rather than talk.

Cooker isn't plumbed in yet.

TweedyPuu · 14/06/2021 18:24

Sounds like they're waiting for their cooker to be delivered or set up.

PracticingPerson · 14/06/2021 18:24

Oh dear, annoying.

Maybe they have not had a garden for a bit and have missed bbq-ing, and hopefully it's a one week wonder?

Well maybe. Let's hope. But, really I doubt this! It's a rental

Of course yabu. It's up to them if they wish to BBQ every meal of every day. What do you seriously expect to say to them regarding this? They're within the confines of their own property. As MN always says: if you don't want neighbours go and live rurally.

Hope so. They're so bloody loud too!

We did this when our cooker went on the blink. Better than take away, especially with the cost of moving.

I didn't say anything about saying something to them!

You don't fine it even slightly anti-social?

Nohomemadecandles · 14/06/2021 18:28

Gosh. Every other thread is the fun hoovers this last few days!
Maybe give them longer than 36 hours...

Comefromaway · 14/06/2021 18:29

Sounds like a great idea this weather. I still don’t have a cooker (kitchen refurb delayed) & we use an indoor griddle but barbecue sounds a fab idea.

ClaudiaWankleman · 14/06/2021 18:30

My house smells of acrid meat.

Hyperbole of the day.

I don't find it anti-social. Even in my tiny garden, with waist high fence, I have never once been bothered by smoke from the two neighbours' coal BBQs. It is a phenomenon only known to Mumsnet.

BlackeyedSusan · 14/06/2021 18:30

Ex is rental and had no cooker

Oly4 · 14/06/2021 18:31

It’s summer, they are BBQing. How lovely! I don’t find it antisocial at all

MaybeCrazy2 · 14/06/2021 18:32

Why would you not bbq all meals when it’s hot? That’s what summer is all about!

bbqalldaylong · 14/06/2021 18:32

They're bbqing onions now and playing Beyoncé loudly.

Pretty sure this is a bad sign.

OP posts:
Nohomemadecandles · 14/06/2021 18:33

Beyoncé maybe but the barbecue's fine

bbqalldaylong · 14/06/2021 18:33

**My house smells of acrid meat.

Hyperbole of the day**

Nothing hyperbolic about it, it's true. Husband agrees and he's a carnivore

OP posts:
MaybeCrazy2 · 14/06/2021 18:33

Yes, it’s a bad sign they have moved in next to a fun sponge!!

Lighten up!

Ok. Basically, 'fuck everyone else'

It’s two days so far. Come back if it goes on for a week.

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 14/06/2021 18:35

If your going to complain about people cooking and eating in their own bloody garden op suggest you need to move somewhere with no neighbours Hmm

Does it annoy you when you walk passed food venues and smell it?

There's so many threads on here lately moaning about neighbours because they're actually outside in their own gardens enjoying the nice weather Shock

Get a bloody life

bbqalldaylong · 14/06/2021 18:36

That's probably fair.
OP posts:
romdowa · 14/06/2021 18:38

People using their gardens during day light hours! Oh the horror 🤣🤣 if they were cooking the meat with the windows and doors open you would still smell it. So even if they stop bbqing , you'll still have an issue

Summersun2020 · 14/06/2021 18:38

Op: Aibu?
Everyone: yes
Op: no I’m not.
Get a life op, they can bbq what they like. Also being in a rental means nothing, I’ve always rented and never lived in a property with a cooker already installed.

StarryStarrySocks · 14/06/2021 18:39

I agree with you OP, I would be annoyed too. Who the fuck has a barbecue with music playing on a Monday night?!
