DS 21 sharing a room with us on holiday

Me, DH and DS 21 are going on holiday for a week next month, we have always shared a triple room on holiday, the room has 3 single beds in it. I just wondered recently whether this is not appropriate given that DS is an adult now. DH likes to book a triple room as it is cheaper. DS has never said anything against being in a triple room with us but maybe he doesn't want to complicate matters and just puts up with it.

Really?!

GreyhoundG1rl · 10/06/2021 17:43
Confused
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 10/06/2021 17:43

I think that is odd and would have been deeply uncomfortable with it at his age.

starbrightstarlight8888 · 10/06/2021 17:43

That's weird to share a room with a 21 yo

starbrightstarlight8888 · 10/06/2021 17:44

Why wouldn't ds pay for his own room at 21?

plinkplinkfizzer · 10/06/2021 17:45

That is weird all round , I just can't imagine .

Backtoreality1 · 10/06/2021 17:45

So long as you are just sleeping then really not a problem. Done this many times with my parents....not strange at all!

CherieBabySpliffUp · 10/06/2021 17:45

Weird.

WorraLiberty · 10/06/2021 17:46

Whatever works for the 3 of you. I mean it's only a base to sleep in isn't it?

Laburnam · 10/06/2021 17:46

Don’t think there is any problem with it only inappropriate if marital relations 🤣took place

KingdomScrolls · 10/06/2021 17:47

Sounds a bit joyless

Cassimin · 10/06/2021 17:48

Can’t see the problem.
If you were camping you’d all be in the same tent.

ScarlettDarling · 10/06/2021 17:48

I really don’t understand why people are so set against this. I can’t see how it’s weird if all three of you feel comfortable.

cupsofcoffee · 10/06/2021 17:48

Inappropriate imo.

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 10/06/2021 17:48

At 21 I’d rather have performed an unanaesthetised appendectomy on myself with a coat hanger than go on holiday with my parents but each to their own. Grin

TimeForTeaAndG · 10/06/2021 17:49

As a one night stop off, maybe. For a week no.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 10/06/2021 17:49

Can’t believe you are asking this!

I guess for one night it might be ok - imagining a youth hostel type situation- but I couldn’t imagine it for a whole holiday.

WellTidy · 10/06/2021 17:49

I last went on holiday with my parents when I was 21 (week in Germany over Christmas) and 23 (long weekend in Paris). Each time, we had a room with a double bed (for them) and a single bed (for me). I didn’t think anything of it at the time, probably because I realised that they were paying, they probably couldn’t have afforded to pay for a separate room for me and I wouldn’t have been able to go if I had to pay for a room for myself. It was fine!

SleepingStandingUp · 10/06/2021 17:50

We'll assuming you and DP aren't having sex and no one is masterbating in bed and he's not walking in to see you and DP performing oral, what does it matter? Presume you use the bathroom for privacy

PennyDreadful66 · 10/06/2021 17:50

I don't think it's inappropriate as such as you're only sleeping in the same room but I wouldn't have wanted to at 21

Frazzled2207 · 10/06/2021 17:50

I shared hotel rooms with my dad several times in my twenties. Not that odd IMO.

LaurieFairyCake · 10/06/2021 17:50

Well no sex for you or him

Not much of a holiday ConfusedGrin

drawerofwater · 10/06/2021 17:50

that’s weird yeh. I’d have been deeply uncomfortable sharing a room with my parents past about 12. I’m sure there will be plenty of posters saying ‘well in other countries families share one room!’ but that’s not what most people in the UK are used to, or have grown up with

Summertime21 · 10/06/2021 17:51

If you're all happy with sharing then it's fine

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 10/06/2021 17:51

Jinx!
