So many posters have twins! And given it can be easy to forget from one thread to the next whether you've had a multiple birth, I wondered if a general twin register might be helpful. Feel free to have a good rummage around at home to see if you have any.

I find it weird when people decide that a poster is lying when they say they have twins.

I know 3 people, who all know each other from work who all had twins within 18 months of each other and another that had triplets.

nowlook · 30/05/2021 06:33

Can I put you down as a "no twins but knows twins"? My sister has twins, but I feel like a liar even writing that down Grin

I don't have twins but in my friendship group one woman has twins. She's a twin herself (if MN believes me!)

Asbolutely · 30/05/2021 06:36

My son has 4 sets of twins in his class Shock so I can see how it must be pretty common! There do seem to be a lot of MN, but I don't find that I doubt the truth of it usually. I often name change, and sometimes i turn one if my children into twins, just for anonymity ;)

Einsteinsings · 30/05/2021 06:38

I have teen twins. But it’s one of the details I sometimes change to make less identifiable. So, for example, I might say I have dc age 12 and 14 but actually they 13 year old twins. Unless it’s a post specifically about the challenges of multiples, I don’t understand why people seem to get so worked up about it

andivfmakes3 · 30/05/2021 06:38

Why do you want to know who has twins?
(I have twins)

EmmaGrundyForPM · 30/05/2021 06:39

I feel sorry for posters who really do have twins. I've got two close friends with twins, and our next-door but one neighbours have twins.

I think you can usually tell from the rest of the post whether the twins are real or fictional.

Heneage · 30/05/2021 06:39

Twins. Adults now thank god

You need to correlate with age of mother at conception, body weight of mother at conception of twins, and location, as there was a study somewhere that showed twin births have risen because they are linked to increased mother weight (within healthy BMI) and age, and mothers of twins are more likely to be older and heavier. Hence more likely in Home Counties, I think Surrey has the highest number, and thus among middle class women who tend to eat well. Ie your "typical" MN person.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 30/05/2021 06:40

A MN registry for twins?! Why?

I haven't seen that tbh I think most people know that twins are getting more and more common and just assume twins are IVF twins.
hopingtochangeeachtime · 30/05/2021 06:44

DH is a non identical twin if that counts ?... no twin DC here, he really wanted them, I think they would of finished me off. If anyone has twins I salute you.

DS has twins in his class.

andivfmakes3 · 30/05/2021 06:45

@SkedaddIe

I thought that when I had my twins which are ivf babies by the way as I lost both tubes to ectopic pregnancies but at my hospital out of over a dozen twin mums I saw during pregnancy mine were the only ivf ones and all the people who stop to talk to me in the shops who are also twin mums I've still not met any who are via ivf

My sisters ARE twins. Am I a bigger liar? 😂
Seesawmummadaw · 30/05/2021 06:47

A twin register Grin are you bored?

andivfmakes3 · 30/05/2021 06:47

I feel sorry for posters who really do have twins.

Why?

I'm finding it amazing and actually easier than when I had older daughter

But I lost 7 babies before my twins and almost lost these during birth and so am just ridiculously grateful they are actually here

Terrazzo · 30/05/2021 06:49

Ooh what @Heneage says has struck fear and excitement into my heart 😄 we are TTC, I’m older than I’ve ever been, fat and in Surrey! Yikes! I’ll keep ya posted OP 😂

Peace43 · 30/05/2021 06:49

No twins here

Hm2020 · 30/05/2021 06:50

My ds best friends are twins in his class and my best friend has twins so quite common around me never understood why it was so unbelievable all though I do remember a prolific poster who turned out to be a troll who had a rediculous family set up with two sets of twins but I don’t know if that caused it...

I didn't mean I feel sorry for them.because they have twins rather than a singleton, but because any poster on here who says they have twins is automatically disbelieved. And that must be hard for them if they really do have twins.
TwinMum89 · 30/05/2021 06:53

I have nearly 2 year old b/g twins.

andivfmakes3 · 30/05/2021 06:53

@EmmaGrundyForPM

Ah got you!

I've never noticed that though? Is that a "thing" that people make up having twins/ people don't believe them if they say they do? I'm a lot more active on the infertility and pregnancy threads I guess

TheWitchersWife · 30/05/2021 06:54

I am a twin.
Does that count?

ginoclocksomewhere · 30/05/2021 06:56

No DC personally, but (maternal) aunt & uncle are twins (non identical, obvs), paternal cousins identical are twins, paternal grandfather was a twin (although his twin died as a baby) Maternal second cousins are identical twins. I've always been told I'd be likely to have them, which is one of the reasons I'm terrified to get pregnant! (Unreasonable phobia)

Because twins are frequently added to threads by fantasists. They don't seem able to resist. Therefore posts with twins in the story tend to get viewed suspiciously.
MyOtherProfile · 30/05/2021 06:57

OP I know you SAY you have no twins but have you checked on your previous posts? You could find you do indeed have twins.
