So many posters have twins! And given it can be easy to forget from one thread to the next whether you've had a multiple birth, I wondered if a general twin register might be helpful. Feel free to have a good rummage around at home to see if you have any.

I used to work with a woman who was a twin and had another set of twin siblings less than a year younger than her and her sister. I felt sorry for her poor DM! They would have been born in the early 60s.

ScotsinOz · 31/05/2021 06:43

I have 10 year old twins, one son and one daughter. In their kindy class they were one of 5 sets of twins. Besides my children, there were 2 sets of identical boy twins, 1 set of identical girl twins and 1 set of fraternal girl twins. Each set of identical twins had names that were the same for each child, except for one letter (for example Amel and Amal).

I thought twins - especially identical twins - were more rare than they actually are, but Kindy showed me how common they were.

@Oneborneverydecade 👋 I’m not really in the right headspace for bootcamp right now.😔 but I’m wishing you all well!💐

@Ninkanink 😚

I really wanted twins. My pregnancy was horrific and there was no way I was going through it again.

Yet, here I am. Five years after the first. Pregnant and hating it again.

nowlook · 31/05/2021 12:14

@PastMyBestBeforeDate

I have no twins. I cannot water-ski either. I think that was the thread where a twin faker jumped the shark years ago.
Indeed. For one particular poster, a single set of twins wasn't enough. I think they'd have carried on until they ran out of implausible Greek Gods' names Grin

It is however shit for all those with actual twins and especially those of you who have lost/been the survivor in a twin pregnancy Flowers.

And now, if you'll excuse me, I need to conceive Zeus and Poseidon while Aphrodite and Hermes are napping.

I had twins after 3 singles. They are now at university so they are huge twins but they were certainly very cute babies. Mine was just luck - not IVF. I was 36 when they were born. I think between 35 and 40 the chance of twins increases - body's last chance of fertility. Mine are non identical boys. The UK has a twin increase because of IVF.

I know one man whose wife had a 3 year old, then had twins who were 1 and amazingly they then conceived twins again. He could not believe it poor chap! Luck of the draw I suppose.

montysma1 · 31/05/2021 14:39

Twins 12.
I think they are definitely real. Had no idea MN didn't believe in twins.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 31/05/2021 14:44

I genuinely know someone who has twin boys and twin girls. She is an awesome mum and copes brilliantly with them.

I always wanted twins not sure why.

DieSchottin93 · 31/05/2021 20:14

There were 5 sets of twins in my year at secondary school.

I think it’s principally the OP.
Boomclaps · 31/05/2021 21:17

There are loads of twins! I am a twin and there were 4 sets of us in my single form entry primary school year. And then 9 sets at high school, and a twin on her own who’s sister lived half an hour away like in the Lindsay Lohan movie

There are also 3 sets in our baby group

TheMagicDeckchair · 31/05/2021 21:23

I think I might qualify for the twins register.

I have one month old boy/boy fraternal twins.
My dad is an identical twin. My paternal grandfather was a fraternal twin. My maternal grandfather was an ID twin. DH’s aunts are ID twins.

Or I could be lying! Has anyone mentioned Elon Musk’s full house of twins and triplets?

bruffin · 31/05/2021 21:33

I once worked in an office of about 25 people of which 3 were a twin, all fraternal.

AreYouSiriusLupin · 01/06/2021 09:27

I have b/g twins Grin

Surlyburd · 01/06/2021 10:07

Twins are really common nowadays. There are 7 sets across my youngest dds year group at school. Maybe triplets are the new twins Confused. You are right though. People do lie about multiples.

somethingischasingme · 01/06/2021 18:25

My brothers are twins and one of them has bg twins. My aunts and uncles on both sides are twins too. Put me for 4 sets. Or 5 if you count step parents brother and sister too? I've looked at home and I don't have twins. But I do need to declutter do will let you know if I find any rogue twins...

DotsandCo · 01/06/2021 18:33

I don't have twins...but I have THREE sets in my class! Two identical sets (one girl set, one boy set) and one set of fraternal. So I've scored the twin hat trick I feel 🙌

My girl set are identifiable only because mum very kindly ties their hair differently each day - which works only when I remember which one has a ponytail and which one is wearing plaits 🤦‍♀️ 🤣

The boys...well I'm still working on that 🤷‍♀️

DotsandCo · 01/06/2021 18:43

Also, when I was in hospital having my first baby, there was a young woman in the bed opposite me in having twins...she was only 25 and these were her 5/6th babies! She had 4 DC already at home, all under 6 and this was an 'accidental pregnancy'. She didn't find out she was pregnant until she was 7 months and then the scan revealed twins...imagine that! 25 years old, 4 children under 6 and then finding out you were having twins 😱

This was 30 years ago now...I still wonder about her occasionally when I see large families.

Spaceprincess · 02/06/2021 08:43

I've got a pair. They are 20 now.

SadieCow · 04/06/2021 17:25

I think Roger Federer and Mrs Federer need to get in this thread Grin

Cocomarine · 04/06/2021 17:43

I’m so late to this but as it’s been bumped...

@nowlook my aunt is godmother to a woman who had two sets of twins 15 months apart. This is the honest to goodness truth. Can I have a column?

TheSoapyFrog · 04/06/2021 17:59

I have twins. I've never experienced not being believed though.

Sparklingbrook · 04/06/2021 19:31

You have to have posted some unbelievable goady old cobblers though, and then drop the twins in. Presumably you haven't done that. Grin
sunflowerdaisies · 04/06/2021 23:28

There are 13 sets of twins at my children's 1 class intake, they both have two sets in their classes. More than 10% of the children at the school are twins!
