So many posters have twins! And given it can be easy to forget from one thread to the next whether you've had a multiple birth, I wondered if a general twin register might be helpful. Feel free to have a good rummage around at home to see if you have any.

@Einsteinsings

I have teen twins. But it’s one of the details I sometimes change to make less identifiable. So, for example, I might say I have dc age 12 and 14 but actually they 13 year old twins. Unless it’s a post specifically about the challenges of multiples, I don’t understand why people seem to get so worked up about it
I like that idea - using ages that you can average out to the truth. Nice!

I will use that if I ever have twins in the family (I can't myself as I am old and all my eggs are dried up), and I want to post something that might be outing.

Oh, for the list. No twins, and don't know twins (not for 50 years, anyhow - there was a set where I worked once).

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/05/2021 07:23

I am a twin.
Does that count?

I expect it does Twitcher because you also know a twin - your sibling. So you can go on the "yes" list.

MuchTooTired · 30/05/2021 07:24

I have one set of b/g twins. Please pop me on the register as a mother of twins, and I wish to be noted in the sub section of the register titled NEVER HAVING ANOTHER BABY AGAIN JUST IN CASE I HAVE ANOTHER MULTIPLE BIRTH.

I do not wish to rummage around at home, as I’m scared I might find another set that I forgot I had.

I don’t think twins are that unusual, in my school year we had about 5 sets of twins and a set of triplets out of a couple of hundred kids. Obviously I know a fair few sets of twins from twin group, but I’ve not met another mum of ivf twins as yet.

Anycrispsleft · 30/05/2021 07:24

I have twins. It gets right on my nerves, this Mumsnet "twins=troll" thing. Every now and again I see a thread where some poor woman with twin babies, who hasn't slept more than about 40 minutes at a stretch for the last 5 months, posts an AIBU about someone being arsey about her big buggy or whatever (some people are absolute cunts) and just wants a wee bit of support and all the get is "YABVU, it was your decision to have so many kids" and "Twins. Yeah right OP is it half term?" It's just horrible. If you think it's a troll, there's always the option not to answer, that way if you're wrong you won't just have trash talked a distressed and exhausted mother of young babies.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/05/2021 07:25

@WutheredOut

In our village there are three sets of twins living within 9 houses of each other - and another set at school. It isn’t that uncommon here!
Mmmm . . .

Is your milkman a twin?

Is his name Pat Mustard?

cptartapp · 30/05/2021 07:26

My 49 year old friend has two sets of twins. One set aged 18 and the other set two years old!

Puntastic · 30/05/2021 07:27

I tend to just believe people who say they have twins 🤷

But some people on MN do seem to have a pathological fear of being duped by Internet randoms.

Nbnbnb · 30/05/2021 07:29

I have twins in their twenties.

I'm unsure what the hype is. It was never a 'thing' back then.

DeadButDelicious · 30/05/2021 07:29

I think there are a set of twins at DD's nursery (they could just be two kids that really look a like for all I know, COVID has meant that it's drop and run at the gate rather than hang around and get to know people so I cannot be sure) I went to school with a set of identical twins but I do not currently know any twins, anyone with twins or have twins myself.

This is the most times I have ever said the word twins.

Twins. Grin

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 30/05/2021 07:31

Loads of twins round here.
2 sets in DS2's class and one set in DS1's.
And 2 sets in my extended family.
I don't have any though.

MrMucker · 30/05/2021 07:33

I'm twin fluid. Anything else is oppression.

SkedaddIe · 30/05/2021 07:34
@SkedaddIe

I thought that when I had my twins which are ivf babies by the way as I lost both tubes to ectopic pregnancies but at my hospital out of over a dozen twin mums I saw during pregnancy mine were the only ivf ones and all the people who stop to talk to me in the shops who are also twin mums I've still not met any who are via ivf
That is surprising I'd have expected it to be the other way around.

BestIsWest · 30/05/2021 07:35

Identical twin cousins here. My dad used to say ‘There are twins in the family, you know’ every time someone got pregnant.

Todayissunny · 30/05/2021 07:35

Roger Federer has two sets of twins.
My brother has twins..
So do I. Athough I tend to forget they are twins these days. They are just my boys.
I have never seen RF's twins in RL , so should I really believe it is true?

Hellodarknessmyoldpal · 30/05/2021 07:38

Right i think i need to keep my own notes now. So many strange rules on MN so ill put down posters who claim to have twins = liars. (I am joking, I would just believe people who say they have twins).

But for your own records, i have no twins, i am not a twin but always thought being a twin would be cool so feel free to mark me down as one. My friend has twins and my DH uncles are twins. SmileSmile

Girlwhowearsglasses · 30/05/2021 07:38

I have teenage ID twin boys. To put it mildly I felt I really needed parenting forums for support so I can imagine there are more of us...

I have lots of friends with twins but probably because I joined a twin club plus friends introduced me to other twin mums when mine were tiny. It's a unique experience!

ClairKingston · 30/05/2021 07:38

What a strange concept (inventing twins for the purposes of writing on a forum such as MN!) but my suspicions are now aroused and they weren't before. Inventing non existing children is a weird thought but the word on the street is that there is a young couple somewhere in the Manchester region who claim they have not twins but QUADS! Yet no-one has actually seen them.
Curioser and curioser.

Agreed. It’s all very twatty and not in the spirit.
cravingmilkshake · 30/05/2021 07:46

I'm pregnant with twins currently ...

Ilikecheeseontoast · 30/05/2021 07:48

Twin mum here plus a singleton. Weird that people would lie!

ClairKingston · 30/05/2021 07:53

@Ilikecheeseontoast

I agree but lots of people lie a lot. They must get some kind of pleasure or satisfaction from it. I was telling my 127 year old grandma this only the other day and she said nobody told lies when she was a child because if found out they got beaten with sticks and tarred and feathered in front of the whole village.

vdbfamily · 30/05/2021 07:55

I always wanted to have twins and we have twins ' in the family' so those must both merit a listing somewhere I hope??

Darkbrownistheriver · 30/05/2021 07:58

I know a couple who have two sets of twins under 5. One pair are identical, the other fraternal. No IVF and no strong family history of twins (although there are some a couple of generations back).

meetthewildes · 30/05/2021 08:00

I have two sets of twins. They are definitely (loudly) real. 😂

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 30/05/2021 08:05

I don't have twins but I am one. Does that count?
