To be really surprised at the amount of “naice” middle class people who apparantly do coke?

I see this on mumsnet often that coke use is rife in middle class circles. I’ve never been offered coke on a night out, or seen any of my friends do it: and none of them have ever mentioned doing it.

Aibu to be so naive not to realise it is so widespread

Same, OP. I am never offered it but hear about loads of people using it regularly. Apparently it's quite normal

Smartiepants79 · 29/05/2021 22:21

I would be considered naice and middle class. Never, ever come across this.

PipersOrange · 29/05/2021 22:24

I'm probably considered both. Do it frequently. Is that what you wanted to hear?

Lemonwoe · 29/05/2021 22:24

I’m now wondering if my friends are all doing it behind my back lol (mind you, I’ve never been vocally anti drugs, I just couldn’t care less what other folks do).

@PipersOrange. Not really, I’m just curious about how true it is: it’s not something that I’m aware of in real life: only ever hear about it on mumsnet

I know friends who do it, I loathe the fact that they bang on about artisan bread and all that rubbish, organic this sustainable that and yet they are helping to fund one of the most despicable trades on earth.

Why do people always put 'naice' on here? Hate that silly word.

TropicalFairyCake · 29/05/2021 22:26

Absolutely. I was shocked when I read it on mn . I wonder if it's more an overlap woth the type of people that use forums rather than so many irl... I hope...

Do you call them out on it? Agree re “naice”.

@Mygardenisanightmare because we know it annoys you Wink

I’ve never come across it (Manchester) but have heard it’s much more commonplace in London compared to the rest of the country (from friends that live in London)

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 29/05/2021 22:29

I know a Yoga instructor who bangs on about vegan living who takes Coke.

I hate the stuff, people on Coke are sooooo BORING.

Lemonwoe · 29/05/2021 22:30

@Chihuahuacat I live in a city in Scotland: and rarely hear of people using it: some younger folk at work once (very indiscreet about it).

I've never done it, never been offered any, don't have any friends that I'm aware have used it. My neighbour sells it though, so if ever I wanted to try it, it would be easy to get hold of some. (Before anyone says I should be reporting him, he's only just got out of prison so I think the police are very well aware of him already)

I’m in Greater Manchester and coke use if pretty rife in the town in from and others I frequent and has been for years. Not that I know about middle class circles as I’m working class. Drugs don’t interest me or my friendship group but it is pretty commonplace.

I'm a 37 yo boring data analyst. Wouldn't say no to a line if I came across a nice dealer tbh Grin

Me and DH used to enjoy a weekend a month with a bottle of prosecco.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 29/05/2021 22:39

People on mn seem to bang on about this. Having done a quickie straw poll among good friends, siblings and cousins, all very middle/upper middle class, none of us know anyone doing coke.

I'm not sure it's as widespread as it's made out to be.

TO12T39FRQ · 29/05/2021 22:39

nothing really surprises me anymore

ShoutingBirb · 29/05/2021 22:39

(Cambridge btw)

Thatswatshesaid · 29/05/2021 22:40

When you know what to look for you see it more. People going to the toilet in groups. Talking a lot or boring self indulgent bollocks. Being able to party all night.
It’s very normal in some circles not so much in others.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 29/05/2021 22:41

People going to the toilet in groups.

Women often go to the bathroom in 2s & 3s, for a gossip/sort hair/reapply makeup!!

Out of curiosity, why do you do it? I just can't see the appeal.
NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 29/05/2021 22:44

Why do people always put 'naice' on here? Hate that silly word.

Because it's clear, brief and widely understood - it has a specific meaning on here that there isn't another easy/quick way to convey. Why obfuscate things when you can communicate in a way you know others will understand?

agreed 🌸

SweatyBetty20 · 29/05/2021 22:48

I’m in Manchester - saw it a lot when I worked in the media but now I’m a civil servant I don’t see it at all.

Alternista · 29/05/2021 22:48

Never done it, never been offered it and wouldn’t know what to do if I was!

I sort of feel like I’ve missed out…
