Do you iron all your kids clothes?

Had a 'heated' discussion with DM because she doesn't like the fact that I dont iron my DC2's clothes.

I used to iron DC1's as I had plenty of time on my hands but now with another child, a dog and a partner I just don't see it as an important job anymore.

Their clothes look fine, most things are tumbled and then hung straight up so they don't even look like they need an iron, never have I looked at my kids and thought oh god you can't tell I haven't ironed that and never has anybody beside DM ever mentioned it to me either.

I don't iron anything. I don't own an iron.

Waiting423 · 20/05/2021 17:10

Only school shirts nothing else

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 20/05/2021 17:11

Nope the iron belongs to daddy as far as the kids are concerned Wink

lazee · 20/05/2021 17:12

No iron in my house!
We cope just fine.
Tumble and shake and hang.
Job done

Orangedaisy · 20/05/2021 17:12

I iron school summer dresses, shirts and the occasional party dress. But most of them no.

janlevinson · 20/05/2021 17:13

Pretty much iron none of them.
My dm is like this too. Absolutely appalled that I don't make ironing more of a priority.

Watchingthetelly · 20/05/2021 17:13

I’m pretty into clothes and keep a neat home and garden but ironing a small child’s clothes seems like a wild idea to me. Total waste of time 😂

DrFoxtrot · 20/05/2021 17:14

I can't remember the last thing I ironed.

LittleBearPad · 20/05/2021 17:15

DH irons his shirts - when he wears them, which in the last year has been rare.

The iron has been switched on once in that time for Hama beads.

aiwblam · 20/05/2021 17:16

Don’t iron anything at all for kids.

aiwblam · 20/05/2021 17:16

Or even for me and dh

Ironing is a waste of life.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 20/05/2021 17:16

I also don't own an iron. I've got a steamer for anything really wrinkly, but that's for stuff like my silk shirts and maxi dresses. It would never occur to me to iron DSs clothes. They just get trashed anyway...

Choice4567 · 20/05/2021 17:17

I ironed the things that look properly creased and awful. I get away with not ironing as much as possible. I find the people that are appalled by non-ironing never explain why- what is so bad about it?!

AryaStarkWolf · 20/05/2021 17:17

Literally can't remember the last time I ironed anything

cupsofcoffee · 20/05/2021 17:17

I've never ironed a thing in my life - we don't even own an iron.

Thatisnotwhatisaid · 20/05/2021 17:17

No, we don’t own an ironing board anymore. Still have the iron under the sink but only DH uses it on the rare occasion he needs to wear a full on suit.

Redwinestillfine · 20/05/2021 17:18

Nope. Summer school dressed and PE t shirts that's about it.

AryaStarkWolf · 20/05/2021 17:18

@LittleBearPad

Yeah, my Dh wears shirts for work everyday so he's pretty much the only one who ever uses it
MamaWeasel · 20/05/2021 17:18

My dad used to have appalling eczema, so I would iron his underwear (that directly touched his skin) but no to the rest.

Nowadays (kids grown up) I iron only when sewing. If I have to.

MamaWeasel · 20/05/2021 17:19

That should read "my ds" not dad.

drpet49 · 20/05/2021 17:20

I do. My kids don’t look good in creases.

LST · 20/05/2021 17:20

Nope. Don't iron anything. I sometimes rewash stuff thats creased and I want to wear it as it is less faff than getting the ironing board out.

riotlady · 20/05/2021 17:20

I don’t iron anything. I was reading Peck Peck Peck to my 3yo the other day and one of the pages has an ironing board on it and I had to explain what it was!

SquashMinusIsShit · 20/05/2021 17:21

I don't iron anything. DH used to iron his work shirts but his work attire has moved towards jumpers so no longer irons anything either.

Massive waste of time. When we hang washing up it's pegged on the line or airer.then put away as soon as it is dry so nothing ever looks creased

ladygindiva · 20/05/2021 17:21

I don't iron. I check garments non- ironability before I purchase and I have to really love something to buy it despite it needing ironing. I don't think I've ever ironed a child's garment except for a wedding etc.
