My theory is that voters don't care.

Yabu - I care
Yanbu - I don't care

No, they all lie regardless of which party they are

harridan50 · 28/04/2021 07:26

Right now at this moment no. We need to get out of this mess without backstabbing political drama, And I cannot stand him

CovidCorvid · 28/04/2021 07:27

Yes I care a lot. He’s not fit to be prime minister.

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 28/04/2021 07:28

Not really to be honest. I think it’s a bit like Trump — people know full well, but they price it in when they vote for him/his party because it gets them what they want.

EssentialHummus · 28/04/2021 07:28

It’s not exactly the lying, more the (correct?) assumption that it won’t sway voters / that people can be distracted by a shiny bauble or bit of good news waved at them / that everything can be made to go away with a bit of spin. Maddening.

lllllllllll · 28/04/2021 07:28

No, I can’t see that he’s done much wrong, other than try to secure a deal with Dyson quickly to get more ventilators for the UK. It all seems like a massive storm in a teacup!

SmidgenofaPigeon · 28/04/2021 07:29

Yes. Unfortunately I don’t think the way him and Carrie Antionette carry on will change much in terms of voting next time round. It’s not like there’s much in the way of credible opposition.

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 28/04/2021 07:30

To clarify my post — I do care, personally, but I didn’t vote Tory last election. My theory is that most/many Tory voters don’t care (or don’t care enough to swing their vote another way).

Brefugee · 28/04/2021 07:30

No, they all lie regardless of which party they are

there is "we'll reduce tax" in a manifesto and then not doing it for pragmatic or practical reasons

then there is Johnson telling provable and often pointless lies to make himself look better or whatever. It is a whole different ball game and the fact that people don't care just makes me relieved i don't live in the UK any more.

Nappyvalley15 · 28/04/2021 07:30

Yes regarding money. It makes me wonder who might be buying favours from him and why.

Plus his constant lying sets a very low bar for politics in this country. I don't want that to be normal here.

LittleBookOfKalms · 28/04/2021 07:31

@Kendodd Your theory would seem correct so far.

I depair of living in a country where people see nothing wrong with the man elected to lead us being incapable of lying in bed straight. We really are a nation of idiotsSad

Gunpowder · 28/04/2021 07:31

Yes nappyvalley! Exactly.

Rillington · 28/04/2021 07:32

He was never ever fit to be a prime minister. He's a bumbling fool. I don't believe a word he says.

Igmum · 28/04/2021 07:32

Yes. Absolutely I care. We are very fortunate in that UK politics has traditionally not been corrupt. This public lying, the open chumocracy, the pork barrel politics are vile and are destroying our system. I could almost forgive the Dyson case given the context, though it does not reflect well on either. But the rest? There can be no excuse

LittleBookOfKalms · 28/04/2021 07:32

@Brefugee The whole 'all politicians lie' argument makes me want to smash my head on a wall until I lose consciousness.

Mooda · 28/04/2021 07:32

I care but I don't think many people do. Sure everyone lies sometimes but not in the way he does, systematically and without care. He's an exceptionally unpleasant character but I don't think many people see past the silly hair and funny one liners (he does have a memorable turn of phrase, I'll give him that). The whole sordid story of his premiership will all come out one day but he'll be long gone by then and raking it in elsewhere.

Overdueanamechange · 28/04/2021 07:32

No I don't care. I'm more interested in actions than words behind closed doors. I'm not interested in how much his flat cost to refurb, as long as the tax payer doesn't have to pay it. I don't care what deal he made with Dyson to get life saving equipment. I'm not interested in who he snagged on the family sofa.

BoomBoomsCousin · 28/04/2021 07:32

I care, but it seems fairly clear lots of voters don’t, and, more importantly given how he becomes PM (rather than just an MP) Most Conservative MPs and party member don’t care much either.

longwayoff · 28/04/2021 07:32

He's an utter disgrace and embarrassment. I hope to see him booted out of No 10 ASAP. But I'll probably be disappointed.

Sparklingbrook · 28/04/2021 07:33

Is this about the wallpaper? I am a bit Shock at £800 a roll.

Not voted as I care about AIBU being used as a poll all the time.

Synthesiser · 28/04/2021 07:34

I care. I assume a lot of voters don't as they have the same standards themselves

Mxflamingnoravera · 28/04/2021 07:34

Yes I do, he bullshits everything. His behaviour shows a flagrant disregard for honesty, decency and he is a racist and misogynist. He lies, blusters and fucks his way through life and is now getting away with doing it to the country. Vile man.

Hospitalexpert · 28/04/2021 07:35

Depends what about.
Personal stuff, not that bothered.
Who paid for refurbishment of his home slightly due to influence, but all really rich people can have influence on any prime minister- it was not the tax payer
Brexit, particularly the lies about how NI would be affected
What happened with Covid and lies about PPE

Both dreadful - care very much about that

MarcelinesMa · 28/04/2021 07:36

I care a lot. It’s another example of why he’s not fit to be prime minister and is a massive embarrassment generally.

But I don’t vote Tory anyway and never have and it seems far too many of their voters don’t give a shit.
