I care but I don't think many people do. Sure everyone lies sometimes but not in the way he does, systematically and without care. He's an exceptionally unpleasant character but I don't think many people see past the silly hair and funny one liners (he does have a memorable turn of phrase, I'll give him that). The whole sordid story of his premiership will all come out one day but he'll be long gone by then and raking it in elsewhere.
I agree about most people not seeing past the silly hair etc, but why are so few people concerned about his lack of conviction with regard to leave/remain, where he didn't come out for either side until he saw which way the wind was blowing? The single biggest political and economic issue of my lifetime, and he still couldn't manage to say what he believed was best for the country.
And as for his sexual incontinence, serial infidelities etc, they are unspeakable. How any woman can support a man whose moral compass is so gone awry that he's off impregnating his mistress while his wife, the mother of 4 of his 6 (or is it 7?) children, is undergoing treatment for cancer?
This speaks volumes about the man's callousness, selfishness and utter lack of any sort of morality or consideration for others.
I don't expect politicians to be perfect. I don't expect higher standards of behaviour from them than I expect of myself. I'm not a hypocrite. But I do expect a bit of basic human decency and that they will not accept gifts or favours that could influence them when it comes to making decisions of national, even international, importance.
And if the warning given to my friend, who temped at the Spectator when he worked there, about never getting into a taxi or lift alone with him had any substance behind it, he has no respect for women's bodily autonomy, either.
